RE2 bosses are very memorable despite not being all that difficult. The G parasite was effective in particular, due to the set-up it got and the sounds it made.

It's an unwinnable fight, but it's always stayed with me even having first played it 20+ years ago.

I think the boss in his own mode is easy but during the True Arena's Final Four you have to be more careful because of ressource management.

Meta Knightmare's Galacta Knight is a pushover but is lethal in TA.

I think I might be misinterpreting the topic a bit, but in the case of non-challenging bosses that went hard af:
Both of the final bosses for Sonic Adventure. They were an overblown mini-games masquerading as the final boss, but you were Super Sonic with rad music fighting massive giant monsters that the game spent the past 20 hours building up to, so I can't see it through anything other than rose tinted lenses (especially Perfect Chaos, which didn't age well, and I always remember it being better than it is).
I always saw it as a showcase how Super Sonic is actually strong so that even Kaiju and S-rank threats aren't that hard when he's turning into that.

I do agree that it gets a bit old when the big monster betrays Eggman, Sonic turns super at the last moment, beats the boss and saves the day yet it was also a way to let the player not struggle too hard in the finale.

Colors' last boss is easy because the Doctor is struggling to keep up as the entire station is crumbling more than it being a weapon of mass destruction.

I think that the only actually hard final boss in Sonic was from 2.

Other Ganon on this thread, Ganondorf of Wind Waker

The battle is rather easy, no special gimmick or puzzle battle, just a swash duel between a kid with no fate that CHOSE to save the world and a man that broke after losing it all, Lore aside the battle is easly the extremest take on "Battle in the Rain" trope usage and the music is a banger, the best battle of the fallen hero's timeline and a proper golden brooch to Ganondorf's reign

I came into this thread to post that but then I remembered pretty much all of Conker's boss battles are ridiculous and memorable but also kind of suck so here's the big bollocked boiler, which might be less memorable but I feel like it's equally as ridiculous and probably a more annoying and lousy boss battle.

Monsoon after you've understood how parry works (or just the battle against Ray at the start of the game since it's a tutorial).

The context of the scene, the music and expression Tatsuya's fury is incredible, for one of the easiest battles in the Kurohyou duology.

Oh that one is amazing as well!

Mighty poo is just an incredible boss, but it is true that all Conker bosses are memorable AF

the Cave man, Drakula, Alien. All amazing!

Delarin from The Frog for Whom the Bell Tolls isn't really difficult at all and barely even qualifies as more than a cutscene, but everything about the "fight" is just so funny that I just don't care (especially when the game's entire "combat" system is just getting into a cartoon dust-cloud when you touch an enemy and things being completely automated, so it's not like "fighting" Delarin clashes with the rest of the game.) Like the game jerks around your expectations SO MUCH throughout the fight and it's amazing.

This thread is just making me remember how absurd they all were.
Buga the nut was another one that was probably more memorable than an actual good boss.

Also, I came across this pretty great metal cover of the Great Mighty Poo the other day that's actually pretty good.

WA2_Lord_Blazer_tittle.webp

He himself is absolute chump for a final boss much like most other JRPG bosses (you literally can't lose this fight no matter what) but boy the buildup to that fight + ending is epic af.

Bizarrely, almost every DS1 boss. My biggest struggle was never the fights, it was the tail weapons.
Presentation in DS1 is without a match, easily my favorite anything from fromsoft.

This god damn sumbitch right here. Surprised he hasn't been mentioned yet.
When I beat the fucker then the screen came on, true form? Ah shit....

I honestly forgot about him. I only beat the game the one time.

Most Kirby final bosses in normal gameplay are not challenging.

However when it's a True Arena variant it's a different story.
Agreed!

On my fourth or fifth replay of MGS 3 and I've really come to appreciate The End, probably one of my favorite bosses in the series and one of my favorite bosses of all time. In a lot of games I like to keep a save right before a moment I really like, in MGS 3 I have saves for: The End's fight, the ladder right after The End (lol), and The Boss' fight.

It really feels like a Hunter vs Hunter duel in a dense jungle, this fight can take a WHILE for new players, so long that Kojima made The End just straight up die of old age if you save mid-fight and come back after a week or so. You can even pick him off earlier than usual by sniping him after a certain cutscene with a hidden SVD you can find early on in the game. But The End is too much fun to fight for me to skip unless I was trying to beat the game as fast as possible for a rank or something.

In my most recent replay of the game I forgot to pick up the thermal goggles (probably the most useful tool for fighting The End) in Sokolov's room like a total doofus. So I just rawdogged the fight by keeping low and looking out for the glare of his sniper lens, which looks deceptively similar to the glare of the sun if you aren't perceptive enough. After nearly an hour of stalking this old man and holding him up three times to get his camo, I took him out in my favorite way, a stamina kill by blowing cigarette smoke on that geezer (using the cig spray is my favorite way to take out all the bosses really, it helps that I always go for stamina kills to get their camo after their fights).

I'm not even joking the only similar experience to The End's boss fight in gaming I've had was playing old hunting games, or more specifically Deer Hunter II. Those games aren't afraid to keep you around for a while before you even find anything, which makes it even more exciting when you do; They tend to have really calming ambiance as well, I enjoyed that game a lot more than I thought I would.

All in all, I really appreciate The End and think a lot of games could use a similar approach designing their bosses.

(and a long ass ladder as a reward for beating them)

Oh yeah! I love the battle against The End. I also really love how you can skip the whole fight just by skipping a whole week on your console or PC, and he ends up dying of old age, or how you can kill The End much earlier in the game when he’s in a wheelchair.

I gotta say, I failed to appreciate MGS3 the first time playing through, so seeing your appreciation makes me appreciate it even more! I had always used the exploits to skip past battles since I'm impatient. If I had to pick a favorite? I'd say the Joy was intimidatingly awesome.

She's definitely a high point of the game and the series as a whole, the setting, the soundtrack, the time limit, and focus on CQC (with her disassembling your guns if you get too close) are all SUPER cool, I like how if you time and press the CQC button right after she grabs you you can actually counter her grab/throw attacks; She's probably tied for first place with The End, depends on my mood lol.
