I've never done a clean run of Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines, and I kinda like exploring this game and finding bugs for the fun of it, lol. You can skip the whole basement section of the haunted hotel just by jumping over the hole that appears when climbing the stairs at the entrance. And if you max stealth, you can enter boss rooms without activating them, allowing you to position yourself better (Like getting over one of the columns/candelabrum things for the slug Ming Xiao fight) or have some bosses outright T-pose during the whole fight.

In DW2, I would play Yellow Turban Rebellion as Sun Jian, and beeline for Zhang Jiao without harming any other enemies, because I liked the aesthetics of fighting his all-elite unit in his stronghold with just my bodyguards. In DW3, I would play as the faction leader, and wait for the enemy to clear the entire map before doing a runback against the entire army. I'd also play Siege of Hei Fei Castle, Wu's side, with Dian Wei, specifically to duel Xu Zhu on the bridge.

There's a lot of neat scenarios you could create in the older Dynasty Warriors games. The newer ones...not so much. I used to love getting 1000 kos, then watching my armies morale max out and seeing them systematically start moving throughout the map killing everything in sight.

Due to how EXP works in that one, i will ALWAYS reach level 30 in Dragon Quest 1, yup, is doable even without EXP boosters, the game is beatable as soon as you get Healmore, but it feels so good to be unopossed by anything and the game even has a little Easter egg if you talk to the king at Maximum level

Using the clock to stop time in the doppelgänger fight in Castlevania Symphony of The Night.
The fight without it is not even hard, but I still do it just because it's fun :)
Also in SotN, doing the "death skip" at the beginning of the game to get the best gear right from the start is very fun! It's a little complicated, and it needs a little set-up at the start, but I recommend trying if you love the game and likes speedruns.

I do remember seeing my boyfriend use a trick to kill a mega men boss by shooting a charged shot and pausing, so the shot moved way slower, hitting the boss multiple times per shot. He killed him with 3 charged shots, it blew my mind.

i love losing in my rival's first fight in any Pokemon fight, that way i look even more like a novice that raised naturally into Pokemon masterdom

I have ALWAYS won the required blitzball game in Final Fantasy X in all of my playthroughs. I refuse to accept any loss in any video game if winning is an option.

  • My starter has to give the final hit at the Pokemon League Champion Battle.
  • I do the Mew glitch every time I play Pokemon Yellow (which is not that often)
  • Nothing less than normal mode when playing a game (unless easier difficulties are needed to unlock certain things)
  • Always get all the masks, even the optional ones, before entering the Moon in Majora
  • Bowser main in any game that lets me play as him
  • I tend to default to being a "good person" in games like Skyrim where you have some sort of options on what kind of person your character can be, I struggle a lot with some more "evil" choices.
  • Speaking of Skyrim, if I'm doing the main quest I cut all dialogue with Delphine the moment "Season Unending" ends (lol), "Paarthurnax" will never appear in my questlog.
  • In any game that I feel I can 100% before the final boss, I do it

There's others maybe but these are all I can remember right now

I deeply resent games that don't show health bars for their bosses... It's actually the ONE flaw I found on Dragon Quest IX.
I've been brute-forcing through Silksong and have been suffering because of this lol. Some people call them a cheat for whatever reason, but they make me way less anxious when present.

I probably couldn't handle the added stress if something like Elden Ring or Dark Souls didn't have boss health bars. Plus, those games usually make for a cool spectacle with the boss health bar reveal and it helps keep you encouraged when you die knowing exactly how much closer you're getting to finally beating them.

I literally had that thought when playing DQ XI yesterday hehe I guess it at least changes the colour of the boss' name when they're getting closer to defeat, but it still adds more stress not having a better idea of their remaining health ::sailor-embarrassed

Yeah, I find it almost trollish on the part of the developers -- the bosses know how much health YOU have.

not properly health bar, but loved the dynamic bar system into Last Remnant

also the bosses stats starting to flash red

i like the gag that they did in tears of the kingdom with the health bar showing up for ganondorf like it normal does and then it keeps going until it hits the edge of the screen.
health bars are very important, since they help keep track of your progress in battles. and can help with other things as well.
in ff5, the beastmaster job can act like a pokemon trainer and catch monsters to use later as a one time spell. you even catch them like pokemon; by lowering their hp. goblins use the flare spell, which deals a good amount of damage.
they have 16 hit points.
it was nerve wracking to try and catch one without knowing how much hp it had left.

I didn't know that was a thing in totk 😂
But I had that in my ROMhack! It happened to Boomer Kuwanger's life bar and got a good laugh out of many people who played it.
:loldog

It can be both a good and bad things.

Some games don't have a lifebar for enemies nor bosses yet are still good.

yeah, it happens only during his boss fight, and it's meant to show that he is now taking the fight seriously.
most of the time game devs don't put in that much effort to do unusual things with the interface or with typical stuff like having character acknowledge healing items. they do that in final fantasy 5 during a story sequence; the main cast of characters try to save one of the party members, using potions, cure spells and a phoenix down to no avail. that scene always stuck out to me more because of that.

Like, if at that point he reached through the screen and started to try to strangle me, I would definitely take the fight more seriously at that point 🤣
