Lest we forget
The war of Elden Ring bosses has begun. Not the strongest, but way harder than Rennala.

Norman's boss battle in Alien Hominid co-starring Tom Fulp's cat, Charlie
There is no frantic battle of gunfire and explosions, just memorizing patterns

The final bosses in Pizza Tower

The first two phases are basic (Aside of Pizzaface's true form as pizzahead) but after beating Pizzahead, you are lead to a fakeout victory, just for him to heal himself, summon the previous bosses and taunt you over it, Peppino at this point is absolutely D O N E with Pizzahead's antics, so he gives the game's most impressive scream and beats the shit out of the bosses, the rest of the battle is less you fighting the bosses and more they fighting you, ,not even Pizzahead is safe, since he literally doesn't take the battle seriously, all you need to do is wait until he opens himself and finish him once and for all

Suffice to say, an epic twist on a Boss Rush since King Dice

this is going to be long but here we go. i am gonna use some non popular examples:
i love when games used to have limited story tellings so they used every aspect to tell their lore. in tekken 1 (yes that tekken 1) heihachi is the final boss, but every character has a sub boss that's a specific counterpart to the character you chose to play (king fights armor king, nina fights anna) and in your brain you think that you're playing as the good guy until you reach the ending and see that may not be the case
This goes all the way until you play as heihachi and the final boss is devil kazuya which makes you wonder if you were ever playing as the good guy in the first place

phantasy star always was heavy on the story aspect, so when pso was heavily focused on the gameplay and the online aspect they had to become creative
the longer you play episode 1 the more you realize how messed up the world you're exploring is, and the bosses are used to only confirm your thoughts that "oh this enemy did take over this"
for the sake of spoilers ill be lowkey but with vol opt i find it cool that you literally have to break every computer screen in order to make him come out and fight him for real in phase 2. and the ost names being "the crazy program" and for phase 2 "you have nowhere to go" can be both said on the boss itself but also the earlier protagonist who had to witness those events by herself alone

fighters impact is a 3d fg that did something similar to tekken 1 with the boss thing. so full spoilers barazock the final boss is extremely disrespectful to martial arts because as a kid his parents were murdered and the murderer took his eyesight. this led him traveling the world and directly targeting martial artists and kidnapping them. His disrespect comes in the form of an ai boss only move that's called x copy, where he can copy whatever attack you hit him with and preform it on you. The novelty of him as a boss to me is the person who messed him up is playable in game as an old man called bernhard who seem like a kind old man until you play as barazock himself and the final boss for barazok is bernhard but in a special boss only costume that not only looks evil with him having a full mask and black clothing, but he has an eye gouging throw now
The story in this game is extremely limited as the game doesn't even have cg endings but i do love the small little things they added in the bosses when they could've totally left it out as just background info for the characters

anyway i guess this extended past bosses but i really love it when games use bosses and gameplay in general to tell a narrative

So many I would have a hard time to pick but a recent kind of boss fight that stuck with me becuse how damn epic it is.

Not sure one would count it as a boss fight but still.

Oh, I’ve a ton!
  1. Roxas is the one who initially taught me to fall in love with KH2’s combat system! One of many phenomenal fights in that game!
  2. The Chef in DR2 deserves a mention, and the entirety of DR1 and DR2’s boss line-up, so many good picks that it’s not easy to narrow it down to just one, so I picked him for helping discover Celldweller, which easily became one of my favorites. Also does a fantastic job of capturing the themes of DR and how an apocalypse turns everything insane, as well as DR’s strange mishmash of insanity and mundanity, not often you find games where a boss is a regular ol chef.
  3. In persona 5, it’s super challenging picking a fight without going into spoilers, so I’m going into a deliberately early pick. Madarame in my eyes was both a great insight into P5’s themes about how every corrupt person still retains some form of humanity, but also the fact it was a banging boss battle in merciless mode which is a phenomenal way to experience the game, especially on NG with minimum grind.
  4. In dark souls 1, it is incredibly challenging to not once again, highlight the entire game, because trying to narrow down one pick would be a disservice to the nuances of the game design and how each boss is just one part of a larger image, both narratively and mechanically. Not to mention, how atmospheric a lot of the fights are. O&S would be an easy no.1 pick, but it’s too obvious, so I’m going with the Prince of the Dark Sun himself! It’s got a little bit of everything. Great lore, great atmosphere and music, even an actually useful covenant! Gasp!
  5. I feel gta iv is another game where it’s tricky picking a boss, but this time it’s moreso cuz gameplay wise they got a lot less going on and narrative wise, they don’t really talk a lot in gameplay, all their important stuff is said way earlier, but this has both a fantastic set piece with jumping out of a crashing plane, but you also indirectly get revenge for Niko. It’s weird how the dlc ended on such a positive note compared to how grim the main game of gta iv is, but I welcome it.

One among many... HIM — the boss of Conde Petie in FFIX: Hilgigars!

I used to go nuts over his cocky swagger, that pea-green color like some bargain-bin Hulk, those straps across his big ol’ belly, his sly look, and those hilariously goofy moves! I remember it was damn near impossible to steal all his items with Zidane... Even now, I find him absolutely adorable — definitely one of my all-time favorite bosses!

Here’s one of his pathetic SigM (HipHop)...just like all the others: with his big ol’ butt, Hilgigars squashes the poor unlucky victim.

Sin of Odio from Live A Live Remake, which I believe wasn't in the original game. The music is so good and I still listen to it on repeat to this day, one of my favourite OSTs. I love the design of this boss, it's so cool, and the story behind it. It was thrilling when the characters from the other chapters also came to fight as a one big finale. What elevated this fight further was when Oersted broke free and landed the last strike, freeing himself from his hate. So good from start to finish, LAL is actually an underrated gem.

Dante Vs Vergil in DMC 3

The final fight of Yakuza PS2

The vast majority of Ninja Gaiden Sigma bosses!

And the Julius boss fight in Castlevania Aria Of Sorrow

.......take 4 hour to kill this monsters. I would first get teleport option then go to paint world.

Main problem isn't smough! No he is fine, but when that ornstein skip whole area and one shot you it become really hard! I still not sure which of bonfire woukd be better choice to get to this boss?

Does the character neck stay attached?

Even our President of the Republic, Mattarella, pretty much has no neck. His head is just kind of stuck right onto his torso. And yet… he’s incredibly sexy.

Possibly Mega Satan in Tboi, besides the music is great the battle is intense, this mf invokes the seven deadly sins, four horsemen of the apocalypse (plus one) and two fallen angels.
And also the Great Gideon, is like a greed wave in greed mode (fight against various enemies) and the boss can be defeated in one hit by the Chaos Card leaving a crawled space below itself

Any of the main late game bosses from Dualliste onwards in Clair Obscur were a lot of fun. Golgra's music is really nice.

I really enjoyed fighting Donkey Kong in the Punch-Out remake for the Wii.

Anakin vs. Obi-Wan on Mustafar in Lego Star Wars is iconic. I l loved that you could choose any character, switch, and fight them as the boss.

Earthbound - Giygas

Radiant Silvergun - pretty much every boss but
the Giant Evangelion-like mech at the end is definitely a stand out

Silent Hill 2 Remake - The new Abstract Daddy boss fight is such an incredible set piece

Ginga Fukei Densetsu Sapphire - The whole game is basically one awesome boss fight after another

Sin & Punishment - The first boss, the crab armour, is easy but has an awesome design, once again pretty much all of the bosses in this game rule.
