Zelda Megathread

I think some remakes need a remake like Resident Evil 3 Remake and Final Fantasy 7 Remake lolol.
The original FF7 is fine. And RE with fixed camera was good for horror.

These "remakes" are either an in universe reboot/sequel or just a reimagining with using an older game as a basis than remakes imo.

This is how I imagine the remake of Zelda Ocarina of Time in Unreal Engine 5.
It really has that "Nintendo hire this man" vibe going on.

That and the over-abundance of bloom.

i just look at it like an interactive cg movie of OOT. :) like if this were some sort of VR experience

I think of most of the games I play as a sort of "Interactive Story" with Choose Your Own Adventure plot decisions and a versatile main character to use

I bought the DLC and restarted Breath of the Wild on Master Mode. I'd played the game a few years ago and got maybe a quarter of the way through. Really digging this playthrough, every fight so far requires some planning due to limited resources. Playing on Switch 2 so the loading times are thankfully pretty quick after one of my many defeats.

I love me some Zelda. What's everyone's opinion on the randomizer craze? I think it's pretty brilliant
i haven't done a zelda randomizer, but i saw peanutbuttergamer and space hamster play a wind waker randomizer. it was brutal. there was about 42 videos and it's halfway through when they finally get 1 sub weapon that allows them to actually make some progress. they found every dungeon entrance and several side quests up to that point, but nothing until they found the megaton hammer. then it was mostly smooth sailing from there.

That's why I like it. The way Zelda is designed makes randomizers crazy. It's really perfect, and answers up to that criticism I see it often sometimes get

yeah, it was pretty hilarious. you could hear the loss of hope in their voices while they looked for something that would allow for progress.
i've tried a pikmin 2 randomizer. that was terrifying. it differed quite a bit from don shnack and prodigious sp's playthrough; especially worser submerged castle. which might have been a good thing.
at least i could see the level. i think the version that i played was a newer one.

I've only ever played Zelda randomizer, but it seems like everything has one now

yeah, it is slowly happening. mario, zelda, pikmin, i think metroid has a couple. nearly every pokemon game has one. i played some of the pokemon randomizers. got a shiny pikachu in a firered playthrough. one of about 3 shinies that i've ever encountered.

Man, the only official shiny I ever caught was a Magikarp. Keep in mind you get a free Gyarados one

i don't recall the last time when i played gold if i caught the shiny gyarados. i got a shiny corpish in omega ruby and, i'm drawing a blank on the other one.

Well I never evolved it. I just kept it as a trophy

i think i read somewhere that shiny pokemon are supposed to the best base stats that a pokemon could have for that species. if you did evolve it, it should be a very powerful gyarados.

My very powerful Gyarados named "Why"

I don't like it.

Sorry, as much as it could sound fun there's a reason why Nintendo crafted well the items you could get so it wouldn't softlock you.

Sure, randomizers could make it so you won't ever get stuck but honestly I don't want to see quarter hearts sitting in place of rupees or something like that.

Randomizers are much better for a Metroid game imo.

I never finished Zelda 2.
i tried to play Zelda 2. i think i found the first dungeon, but i never beat it. i wasn't quite into the game like i thought i would be. I'll have to try again at some point.
I've done the game with a guide, maps and the built-in rewinds from the NSO.

Yes, it could be considered cheating but I want to keep my sanity (or at least what's left of it).

I'll play the enhanced remaster soon

i hadn't heard of a zelda 2 pc port. i'll have to check that out too.

My favorite Zelda is a link to the past
I have not played far in many others
