scott the woz said the fans of the first game are old, guess I'm a fossil

It's pretty outstanding for being one of the first famicom disk system game, compared to similar computer jrpgs the combat and movement is so snappy and fast paced

Speaking of Zelda 1 it's crazy how the very first game had a non-Disk System re-release under the name "Hyrule Fantasy" in 1994 (merely one year after the release of Link's Awakening):

I think we can retroactively name the first game with that title.

Completely random question but have you tried the side game of Fourswords Adventure (Tetra's Tracker) and the Satellaview games like SNES Zelda 1 and Ancient Stone Tablets?
Yes, as well as the Tingle games. Read all the manga too. I would've gotten TOTK by now but I'm still burned out from playing BotW so much.

totk is just more botw. you aren't missing out on much. besides torturing the koroks.

Someday I should restart the Tingle games because I got only halfway in the first (it's almost a management game).

As for the mangas the last two years I've read almost every volumes (both from Akira Himekawa and the others via a scan site). I've even bought the classic version of ALTTP by Ishinomori as well as the 11 volumes of Twilight Princess as I had every others but that one.

Now my next goal is to read Oath of Lillto/Riruto.

As the Zelda games I have to do Link's Awakening (the classic black 'n white one as I've only done DX and the Switch remake) as well as Fourswords Adventure, TriForce Heroes, Skyward Sword (HD), Wind Waker, Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time.

What is/was the best zelda game in your opinion.
I start: Without any doubt Zelda Majora's Mask. I really liked the location, the story, the 3-day cycle, quests.

Thread merged with the Zelda Megathread to keep things tidy.

Personally, I've always found Wind Waker to be my top title. I just enjoyed the cell-shaded style and the laid-back sailing vibes, combined with it being my first pre-BOTW 3D style of Zelda game, gives it strong nostalgia feelings.

I honestly feel like booting it up again soon for another run through.

A Wind Waker AND a Rayman 2 enjoyer?

I might not have the same attachment to the Zelda series like I do with the Mario series, but Link to the Past is my favorite Zelda game. I've also beaten 1, 2, Four Swords Adventures, Hyrule Warriors (the first one, not Age of Calamity), and Breath of the Wild. I've also played Link's Awakening, and Wind Waker.

I still have to do FSA and TFH as the top down entries but Wind Waker is in my "next 3D game to do" list.

Speaking of Zelda inspired games I'll have to do the non remake version of Wonder Boy III, Monster World IV and maybe Beyond Oasis/Story of Thor.

I might be a bit late on this, but did you guys know that there's a 1/65536 chance of save data corruption every time you save in a GBA Zelda game?
This video explains it amazingly:
Wow, I am so glad I never played a GBA Zelda in that case.

I just started playing Zelda Echos of Wisdom and Im very happy. Combat takes a bit getting used to but Im liking the retro x modern game design and graphics style. After playing BotW and TotK Im happy to play something that feels a bit more like a traditional LoZ game

This is why it's convenient to have emulation for these as you could do savestates in case.

I've finished ALTTP GBA and MC and thankfully I never got that.

This 100% happened to me growing up. Just another day for me at the time since I didn't know better, but its good to know there's reason why this stuff *actually* happened!

Excluding my introduction to the series with Smash Bros Melee (woah spoilers, Sheik is Zelda)

My first Zelda was Wind Waker ::heart
I was extremely lucky to purchase the Wind Waker limited edition in Greece, that comes with Ocarina of time + Master Quest!
I played both so much as a kid with limited access to videogames!
SHAME I never had a GBA CABLE so I could 100% the Statue museum >_>

- I also own Minish Cap and I love it
-Spirit Tracks... and... I'm sorry I replayed this game recently on Emulator and i STILL Hate the Train Gimmick 😩
It improves so much over Spirit Tracks but I hate the damn train!

Emulated
- A Link to the past
- Phantom Hourglass, surprisingly I enjoyed it way more than Spirit Tracks! The ship is just more flexible and it had some neat puzzles (im biased because of my love for Wind Waker)
Too bad it has like 2 soundtracks for caves/dungeons. 💀
-Oracle of seasons

It was always really cool to me how, in 2006, you could technically play the entirety of the mainline Zelda franchise on just the Gamecube, as long as you also had a Gameboy Player, by owning:
  • Wind Waker
  • Twilight Princess
  • Zelda: Collector's Edition (Z1, Z2, OoT, MM)
  • ALttP Advance
  • Minish Cap
  • The three Gameboy Zeldas (LA, Ages, Seasons)

It's surreal indeed but the fact one was a Club Nintendo and the other requires a peripheral may deter some.

On the Wii and Wii U you could basically play almost every Zelda games via the VC right?

The Switch is the first home console that doesn't have every Zelda available on it I think.
