I absolutely love the pre-rendered look of SMRPG, it has aged surprisingly well unlike some other titles that did similar stuff. I wouldn't mind pre-rendered visuals being back in vogue...You're probably right. Even if someone hacked in Luigi in place of Mallow it would be a start, but pf course thst would imply changing a lot of text, too.
SMRPG is one of the few games that use pre rendered sprites tyat actually looks good, IMO.

To be fair, Pokemon turned into something massive so fast that it's no surprise that many of us got into the genre without even knowing about RPGs in first place.Pokemon Yellow on the Game Boy Color, its what seriously got me into RPGs.
I realize Pokemon is a bit of a standard one lol.
Ohh nice, Mystic Quest it's kind of special to me becuase it was the Final Fantasy that made me want to play more of the series, I didn't finshed it but I might give it a shot sometime. I also think that it's a good option to recomend to someone who wants to play an RPG for the first time since its easy to learn how to play and progress.Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest.
Say what you will of the story or gameplay, but the game had amazing music.
Yo, I'm a MM+ owner too! Crystalis is an amazing title that I didn't expect being mentioned here since it's kind of a hidden gem in my circle. I've heard that the GBC versión has some improvements to make the gameplay more dynamic wich sounds fun to try.Not yet, but I might give it a shot sometime on my Miyoo Mini+.
i heard about this one the other day as part of an Ultima retrospective. that's pretty crazy and awesome that you got to play one of the first building blocks to the RPG genre.Getting the feeling I'm the only old man here.
My first RPG was Akalabeth: World of Doom.
EDIT: After seeing how many games people have added, we could push it to more than just...
