Your entry into the world of FPS?

Wolfenstein 3D

There weren't a lot of computers around back then, but the ones I did come across at school or whatever always seemed to have Wolfenstein on them somehow. Almost like it was preinstalled.

Doom on GBA, I love those crispy bits

The Adobe Flash port of Doom 1 that I used to boot up on my school’s crummy chromebooks via those “unblocked games” sites back in high school.

My knowledge of fps games up until then was that they were all multiplayer focused slop where children scream slurs at you through their headsets, but that game showed me how the genre can have actual level design, well implemented game mechanics and enemy variety, strategy, etc.

My dearest FPS genre reduced to Valorant BS!!!! lol

I used to watch my dad play DOOM, Redneck Rampage and other FPSes but I never liked them myself.

Then I got older and discovered Fallout. I first tried Fallout 3 before New Vegas came out, and I loved the grocery store level. Then I got older and tried New Vegas and that was what really got me into the game.

I forgot about it, and didn't play it again for like 10 years. Then I remembered the game and downloaded it to my laptop, and played it a whole bunch before my computer was eventually stolen.

Several years later, I got a new computer, and began to really get into the game, loading it with mods like QoL and other improvements, as well as (mostly) lore-friendly mods that fit well into the game's environment. I spent over a year modding the game every day until I had tons of mods to enhance the game into something beyond anything I'd ever played. Keep in mind when I say "modding" I don't mean "playing" the game; trying to achieve the perfect mod setup, I still haven't been able to beat Fallout New Vegas. Maybe someday.

Probably Goldeneye and Half-Life but I was quite bad at it. I've also tried Doom SNES and Doom 64 through emulation but couldn't go far.

It was a bit later when I was finally decent (and discovered source ports for Doom) that I truly enjoyed the genre.

I'm pretty sure it was Duke Nukem 3d but I can't remember if I played Doom first or not. Either way Duke 3d left more of an impression on me.
I played Doom but I didn't really appreciate it until I revisited in the 2000s, and now I still play it pretty frequently. Believe it or not I found it quite scary when it came out. Particularly the Imps.

This was my first PC game and my first FPS. People complain about the controls, but i beat this game when i was 6-7. This game is awesome.
6DOF is coming back now. Descent is great, awesome soundtrack.

Well, if there're people who are scared of Resident Evil, it's no surprise that someone is scared of Doom.

A cousin of me let us have for a month his N64, the only game it had was Goldeneye007, the first one we owned was Medal Of Honor Underground, man, Me, my big bro and the first boyfriend of my sis played the heck of it in the Semana de Posada

Halo: Combat Evolved. I'm surprised I'm the only one who seems to have played that one first, given that it was literally the reason most people who had Xboxes bought them for, until Halo 2 came out.
