Doom on PS1/PSX and CS 1.6 back in the day

Call of Duty: Finest Hour and Call of Duty: Big Red One on the PlayStation 2. They released a double pack of both games back in 2007-ish and I remember it was a Christmas present from my dad. Loved those games and would love to revisit them one day but they're probably mediocre and I don't wanna taint my childhood memories lol.

GoldenEye was my introduction I believe. But I didn't actually like the genre until Perfect Dark. For me it is superior in just about every way. I

know there are people who prefer GoldenEye and I respect that, but the multi-player in PD to me was better.

Goldeneye is easier to tackle as a FPS but I agree that Perfect Dark refined it simply with the ability to change clothing or knock a character without killing them which make more sense for a spy themed FPS.

For me I start playing FPS on these games:

Which game introduced you to the FPS genre?

For me it was Doom 2.

My older brother brought it home and it blew my mind.

I knew nothing about the game or the genre.

From then on i started playing the first Doom, Wolfenstein and all the ones that came after (Heretic, Blood, DukeNukem 3D, Quake....)

Similar for but for me it was Doom 1 for the Ps1 that he owned which we played on my Ps2 back then.

My first owned one was a War game ps2 which my ma returned don't remember thename of it and afterward the one I played often Star Wars Battlefront 2 (Ps2) which is the goat.

Counter Strike 1.6 then Half-Life for obvious reasons.
But I didn't learn to like the genre until I got my hands on Quake.

This is so ridiculous, but I think for me it was the DOOM parody in the Simpsons game Virtual Springfield (1997). You play as Apu, apparently it was called APOOM.

Lol, but anyway other than that it was probably GoldenEye or the original Medal of Honor.

I think the first ever fps game I've ever played was the one on ps2, I don't know the title (either call of duty or medal of honor), I played it with my cousin on his ps2 in split screen.

Also I spent hundreds of hours on point blank. That game turn me into internet cafe regular in my teenage years

Of course it is.

It's in first person view.
It has shooting with guns.

I also played Doom 2 but I was not that invested in it more into Doom 1,

later on I Played Star Wars Battlefront 2 on my Ps2.
Also I played Doom on my Ps2 I could not safe but that was not a problem since you could not safe in Doom anyway and had to rely on passwords .

I'm surprised because the consensus is that the first had a better level design. I do kinda prefer the second game too (despite some mediocre maps).
