PS5 Why the PS5 is the worst PlayStation ever

Ive only just got a steam account i got a ps3 as well with tons of games my ps5 barely gets touched in summer due to the heat coming from the back of it and yes i do have a fan cooler attatched to the back itll be september and darker evenings before i start playing properly again
Been there!. I have a friend who has a PS5 and he has no AC, now we can't play in his room anymore unless weather is cooler than normal. PS5 is basically a heater, he even took off the top cover of the console and I can see the fan, because he told me the console was getting too hot.

It's absurd how we can reach to that point. Not even PS4 Pro got that hot in the past, but it's true it was a little more noisy, maybe because of that didn't get as hot as a PS5.

I can't imagine next gen of consoles, they will be literally air fryers.

Base PS4 had SATA2, which means the SSD would be between 2-3 times faster than a mechanical HDD. But it's not only that, sustained transfer speed is just one of the advantages of SSD's, but the other that clearly goes to the top is the IOPS, which are the operations per second, and that parameter is, to put it simple, something that can have a huge impact in loading performance. A regular HDD has around 200 IOPS, depending on it's rotation speed (RPM), a mediocre SSD nowadays can have easily 50-60K, which is almost 300 times more. It is true that Sony nor the game devs created PS4 games to take full advantage of SSD's, but even so, games load much faster. In many games the loading times are almost halved, and in the worst cases you can have an improvement of 30-40% faster loading.

Even on PS3, the difference isn't marginal, for the last reason I've told you, the IOPS. I have tested also HDD and SSD in my PS3 Slim and Super Slim and there are games that can improve as little as 10-20%, but others can improve up to 40-50%, but not many. Anyways, even putting an SSD to a PS2 has improvements, not about loading games, but about loading assets such as game covers or other info that needs to be loaded as fast as possible. It also helps the PS2 to get cooler and reliability skyrockets as there are no moving parts such as the ones within HDD's.
I never put an SSD in a PS2 before. I have done it on a ps3 and the biggest difference I noticed was the OS was smoother I never really did a side by side comparison tho
PS5 is the first playstation to come with an SSD in stock and that is a big generational leap to most people. Also the tech demo that came with the PS5 is much better than the one with PS4.

PS1>PS2>Ps3>Ps5>PS4 imo

PS2 with an SSD is kind of a "if you have a spare one, just cram into it" :)

But PS5 has a big improvement on loading times because Sony didn't put any effort on improving the PS4's, they already calculated to do this path on purpose. When PS4 was released, SATA3 was on market for 4 long years, but they decided to put SATA2, so they could put SATA3 on a "better model", artificially.

They didn't give the option to the user to buy the console with either 500GB HDD or 250GB SSD, because at that time, it would have costed like 40€ more. If they pushed SSD so hard game loading times would be very close to what PS5 has.

People who say PS4 is a bad console is because they just didn't have a good experience with it, but objectively it's not a bad machine, and it's the first generation that many people, after almost 5 years of releasing the following console, don't think it is necessary to upgrade. That never happened before, and it won't happen with PS6. I bet in less than 3 years people will replace most of their PS5 with a PS6, for obvious reasons.

I am not saying the PS4 is bad (I apologize I should have clarified that while it is in my opinion the worst playstation it is still a very good console) I had a good time with it but it is just my least favorite playstation system including vita and psp.
I mainly play single player games (other than sometimes classic wow or Diablo 2) so the added cost for online play didn't affect me.

No worries, everyone's opinion is understandable. You have your priorities, I have mines. My favourite Sony console is PS2 and I never thought PS4 would reach second position when it was launched. I also like PS1 very much because that was my first RPG-galore console. I played a few when Super Famicom, but with PS1 I was grown up enough to start buying games (and mod my console) on my own, so the quantity of games intensified a lot more.

But I don't know why, the day I saw Nier Automata was a reality and it was going to be launched for PS4 (and PC, but I didn't have a good PC back then) I start to flip out. The day I saw my friend playing the demo at his home I knew that game would become my favourite game of PS4 of all times, then started to get way more interest in the console until I finally bought it second hand in 2019. What is curious is that I was buying PS4 games since 2015 because I planned to have it at the end of its life just super cheap, as I was not very interested on it.

Actually, that would be my plan for PS5 but Sony screwed it so much with the console that I am really reluctant on getting one second hand not even for 100€, as I want a Slim with drive, and I don't know when it will cost that, and only if it is vulnerable for jailbreak, as I plan to use its CPU horsepower for emulation as well.

My main platform is the PC, but recently my father got the ps5. Using it myself, I took pleasure in the simplicity of turning on the console, sitting down, no distractions from notifications and not having to worry about drivers or settings. All set.

Nothing basic weird, but being different from my routine I found it enjoyable. I'm currently playing Death Stranding 2 because unfortunately it's coming later on pc and I didn't want to wait.

I tried the astrobot demo and it's crazy how well they exploited dualsense, I hope other games get that far. Let's just say that not having great titles at least it has this great controller. Too bad I prefer the xbox layout. Next game I'll pick up is Demon Souls, again exclusively. Let's say if I wasn't limited to ps5 I would buy them on pc.

The simplicity and how smooth everything is, is very enjoyable. I recommend Returnal if you haven't tried it!

I knew him by name but had never checked what he was about. I really like creatures or monsters in general. I will look into it, thank you ;)

Sounds like a personal issue. I played Rise of Ronin on Release, had a great time, Armored Core 6 was great on it. Astrobot, FFXVI, everything I bought for PS4 that I got free upgrades on Demons Souls Remake is a good time. And once I pick up Death Stranding 2 itll get used once more. FFVII R2 as well.

Its not the worst playstation ever, its one of the better ones. Gaming landscape is just different.
Youre too young too see how far we've come. Im sorry you missed out on the golden age but in terms of being young and having a console? PS5 is pretty nice. Is it a Gaming PC? Nah but its not trying to be.
id say youre too old and naive mister consoomer 5000

I enjoy the PS5 and don't get the hate that it has gotten. Mine is a bit dusty, but hasn't had any trouble overheating and since I dropped in a SSD, it has plenty of storage space. I like that it can play every PS4 game that I have thrown at it much better than my PS4 slim. My only complaint is that the controller batteries only last about 5 hours before you start getting the warning that the batteries are low.

To be devil's advocate.

Ps5 took away customization even further from PS4 by removing themes (Something they are rectifying sure but there are still less options).
battery life as you said.
small storage space due to skyrocketing game sizes.
push away from physical media.
etc.

I can definitely see why ps5 has so many adversarial entities but I just love astrobot and FFXVI XD.
