Why do people still use Kega Fusion for emulating Sega Genesis games?

While Kega Fusion supports Sega CD emulation, there are notable audio sync issues. Kega is not recommended for CD emulation.

On Windows 8.0 and later, a incompatibility issue (related to DirectDraw support in these operating systems being further deprecated) causes the emulator to drop frames or freeze entirely in the case of Windows 10 and later, when attempting to switch to full-screen mode. However, this can be easily fixed by right-clicking on Fusion.exe > Properties > Compatibility > check "Disable Fullscreen Optimizations.

But Kega Fusion has the most traditional UI, so I can see why people would use Kega Fusion for that.
Because PicoDrive and Genesis Plus GX are essentially RetroArch only. And Ares has a pretty bad UI IMO.
Ares biggest problem isn't it's ui, it's the fact that it's shaders half the time don't work, i'd tolerate ares if the shader engine actually functioned, so for me my choices are kega fusion or retroarch and nothing else.

I just wish someone would pick up where Steve Snake left off and bring Kega Fusion up to code. It deserves to be updated! It deserves to be polished! It hasn't had an update in almost 15 years and yet people still use it!

I say breathe some new life into it!

Its closed-source. No one can update it besides Steve Snake himself.

Unless someone would resort to patching the binary, which is limited and not really worth it.

I only use it to run 32X CD games. Otherwise I have just been using Bizhawk.

Lately I been using emuhawk. IDK how good it is in comparison to other emulators but its a good all in one solution with minimal setup. If I have to spend any more of my life with emulator settings I might go even more crazy. I wish Saturn emulation was better but I know its a difficult system to emulate
