Why do people still use Kega Fusion for emulating Sega Genesis games?

I may be one of the fossils Clippy outed himself as, and I never use it. It sounds pretty bad in comparison to the easy alternatives like BlastEm or Genesis Plus GX, and I think that's already an excellent reason to drop it. IIRC even on Windows 10, it had problems going full screen till you fiddled with compatibility settings.

I also barely play any SEGA games so that helps.
It's actually got basically 100% functionality of all genesis games, the problem with it is mainly with the sega cd, it's 32x support is still one of the best.
That and the compatibility issue it has in windows 11 because of it's age, though that can be fixed.

Yes it's not as dominant as it used to be, but it's proof of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", it just works.

We've used it forever and it works. I won't stop using it until it stops working, basically. The last time I changed an emulator it was probably when I moved to Duckstation, and that's because it was just so blatantly better than the previous PSX emulators in every way that it couldn't be denied. Better compatibility, more options, no plugins to fiddle with, just the obvious definitive Playstation 1 emulator. Every console should have one like it.

I figure its the same reason people like me still occasionally go back to ZSNES. It was one of the first to get it right, and it's held up over these years. Fusion is ten times more accurate to its system than ZSNES is to SNES though. Just kinda similar with how they have fancy guis and they've been around forever. And like some others have stated. Once you get used to one program it's hard to switch unless there is a really good reason to.

ZSNES is probably more about the GUI, there's no other reason to go back to zsnes but it's gui is completely unique in comparison to others.

As i said kega fusion just works and has near 100% compatibility, so there's no reason for alot of people to jump from familiarity especially if they don't care about the sega cd support, which is the biggest problem it would have for most people, especially since both ares and retroarch have usability problems for alot of us, some of us dislike blast em for various reasons, same with picodrive.

What's wrong with the Sega CD support anyway? It's worked fine with every Sega CD game I've ever thrown at it. You just have to turn on the Perfect Synchro option (some games freeze without it).

Audio can desync, i never experienced it personally but it apparently can happen especially in FMV games.

Every time someone uses Kega Fusion. Just use, https://github.com/jsgroth/jgenesis/releases/tag/v0.10.1
