Is Yakuza: Black Flag Gaiden living up to the hype? Been seeing alot of praise thrown at it, not quite as much as Like a Dragon: Like a Dragon but more than Like a Dragon: Ishin!

...Clear as mud
I think so, been enjoying it so far, sure there are some parts that could be better but I feel there are a lot of improvements as well, especially for the pacing.

I've been meaning to sign up to one of your races! I wanna drive the Fred Flintstone car (if that's allowed?)
Doesn't matter if it's real or fictional, as long as it can drive/hover on land.
I'm doing a special Free-For-All race (That's now delayed to next Saturday) where weapons are allowed.
Hope you're ready!

Playing Metroid, running around without the slightest fucking clue what to do, and I've just read that to progress I have to fire 5 missiles at a specific door, that gives no indication it is even being affected by them (I fired 3 rockets at it about an hour ago and nothing happened so I stopped trying cos I only have 10)

Makes me want to eat my own head

Finishing Metroid NES blind years ago is still one of my proudest game accomplishments. Cryptic doesn't begin to describe it.

Nicely done. 😎 I'm annoyed at myself for looking it up, but I'd have been proper sour if I'd wasted even more of my weekend looking for an alternative route, only to find out the solution was something I'd already tried, that yielded no results the first time around....

Just gonna cross my fingers the path forward is clearer from here on out (but I ain't gonna hold my breath)

Random fact- one of my nicer memories with my dad was watching him play ff7 and pointing out what he was fighting in a strategy guide before I could read.
The rules! In a similar vein, you just jogged a memory in me of watching my Dad do the torture sequence in MGS1. He used his ring finger (who tf uses their ring finger to button mash?) 😆

Funnily enough I had a very similar experience with my Mom and FF8. She had me control the battles though, and read the options out loud, basically using it to teach me to read. (We also used other games and non video games too, but still, FF8 was one of the more common games we played.)

also another random fact when I was younger, Yuffie was the first game character I liked ::cirnoshrug

I have very fond memories of getting BADLY lost for hours and hours at a friend's house playing Metroid on NES.
I've obtained the bomb item now, and I think I know just the place to use 'em

Bomb everything! A lot of hidden bombable paths are unmarked.

It's uncle in my case, taught me everything there is to vidya gaming, the most vivid memory I have is him playing Chocobo Dungeon and left all the decision to me while he is doing the control, he explained why such and such magic work/doesn't work, how to read a map etc. He did the same thing for other games too.

...?
At least, everything is fine.
