do wish I could trade digital games I was done with. But that's always been an issue with digital purchases and I don't think it's ever going to be like physical game trades.

By UK law (and GoG and Steam both sell to the UK) digital goods have the same rights as physical media, as in you should be able to trade/sell/loan your purchased goods. They just wave the TOS and say 'you agreed to the license' part, you know the usual EULA that's thousands of pages long that no one reads.

I like Steam, GoG, Epic, Zoom and any service....even itch and gamejolt are nice.

However, between GoG and Epic i'd go with GoG for the lack of DRM and the offline installers.

Fun Fact: If you use one of the offline installers and put it onto a flash drive. You can run the installer on said flash drive and plug it into your Windows 98 and higher PC, granted you need to have a USB 1.0 driver installed on it but it will work. I have Quake 1-3, Diablo and many more on my DOS PC through these means.

Gog vs Epic is not even a contest, lul. one mildly cares about it consumers and products, the other is a frontend for fork knife money.

I love how this is still getting replies lol. Hope you got the game you were asking this question for.

GOG and Steam
Epic Store sucks

GOG. it lets you actually own the games you purchased. Enough said.

GOG is a bit clunky and their catalogue isn't great, but I still prefer them over Epic. Having better games isn't everything when your competition is faster, lighter, has better customer service, and is DRM-free

I wish Gog allowed easier modding and reviews.
As the biggest GOG defender of the forum, I agree! If they added a workshop feature it would be perfect. So many times I had to just drag everything onto the game folder only for it to stop working and had to use the repair feature.

I love GoG and I do buy games there, we all agree with their focus on preservation. But still, the vast majority of my games are still on Steam. Well i'm not gonna buy them again, and Steam has a few advantages that GoG so far has not been able to cover: the mods Workshop system, and Linux support. Hell, I'd buy a lot more games on GoG if they supported Linux directly like Steam does. Thankfully, tools and compatibility layers are being developed to be Steam-agnostic so I'll still be able to install said GoG games anyway.

And E🅱ic can eat my entire ass, lmao. They deserve to burn for what they did to Unreal Tournament.

Gog brought Breath of Fire IV back, and now I am double dipping on games I already own on Steam.

Hopefully they get Breath of Fire III.

GoG: The only platform that allows you to actually own a digital copy of something with no limitations
Epic games Store: A discount Steam with none of the community features nor user reviews that make Steam's DRM Tolerable.

You know, the Epic Game Store delisted games developed by Epic themselves.
Good luck buying any of the single player Unreal games.
That should tell you everything you need to know. But hey, it allows for "Crypto" gaming 🎉

GoG: The only platform that allows you to actually own a digital copy of something with no limitations

You know, after almost a year of discussion with the organizers, GOG refused to mention STOP KILLING GAME in their newsletter. Despite advertising themselves as the new champions of "preservation", they're only selling licences for old Ubisoft games with noCD cracks pre-applied, and wouldnt dare to take a pro-consumer stance by mentionning the action in their weekly FOMO junk mail.

You dont "own" anything on GOG. If you "owned" your games you'd be able to sell them back. You rent your licences just like on any other platforms. The only difference is their games have been cracked for decades now and IP holders are speculating on gullible nostalgics.

I love GOG and it would be my default if Steam didn't have the two decades of development into convenience and UX that it got to get to where it is now. I only have an Epic account to claim the free giveaways and I DO NOT USE THE EPIC LAUNCHER.

The Heroic Games Launcher is a community maintained open source launcher for a few stores, including GOG and Epic. It'll track your time, achievements and cloud saves even, and it's not bloated to hell like the launchers those stores got. As much as I love GOG, Galaxy is terrible and I doubt it's gonna improve much soon as it's in a seemingly perpetual beta.

I would use Gog more if Galaxy would work better for me.
Do go and try the Heroic launcher I mentioned, it may work better for you, and it's platform agnostic so I'd also recommend it to everyone who uses Linux.
