GOG for sure. Fingers crossed Metal Gear 4 finally joins the retro lineup.
The preservation programme? I thought only game that already have PC versions were eligible.

From what I understand, GOG has a community engagement campaign that might actually reach the publisher. Again, based on what I've heard, that’s how Breath of Fire IV ended up on PC. Right now, Metal Gear 4 is on GOG’s Dreamlist.

Breath of fire 4 had a pc version from 2004 that barely worked on modern systems, so no as far as i know that's not a example of a successful port.

Indeed, Breath of Fire IV is a fixed up version of the old PC port. There has been no case of GOG putting out an original port or, far as I know, even emulator that's not DOSBox. PS3 games are definitely out of their scope.

Refurbishing an old PC port is way more likely to happen than making a new port. Not saying it won't happen, but I wonder if it is even in consideration. The port would probably be handled by the company that owns it.
Anyway, I'm hoping for more fixed up ports of old games. The Mega Man Legends games would be nice.

I hope so too. Capcom barely does anything with Mega Man these days.

I also got a EGS account but I only got it for Rocket League.
GOG is a preservation effort doubling as a store, the other is just a failed business move to "open" PC market from steam, as they like to think.

GOG has been growing, that for sure it now resembles more a store.

your comparison in a little skewed GOG do not release new games nor is considered as a site to get new releases (although, Sony has released some games from the 8th gen on it)

Epic store needs to go against real market places like steam or god forbid the windows store.
I can't speak more about the Epic Store, never used it, and never will.

Why the comparison?

I just would like it if gog had more games that were on my steam wish list that got delisted.

What a curious way of looking at things, would it not be better to acquire that, that you like as soon as you are able to do so?

Am not criticizing you, it could be money, space on drive or even mood.

I just find it interesting how the human mind works, I am and have been in the same place as you, with many titles waiting to be acquired but always relegated to "maybe on the next sale"

Cheers to that!

I generally like GoG, had funny memories handing usb drives with installers to friends to recommend games. I believe the all in one launcher thing to be kind of boring tho. The EGS feels very unconfortable to me and it makes me angry that no client besides steam knows how to behave when offline

Which one do you think is the better store for PC games?
The epic games store barely counts a software. Here's a story, so one day they offered doom 64 for free, I got it, installed it and... it didn't work. Reinstalled, nope nothing, tried fixes I found online and still nothing. So then I just decided to pirate the game and lo and behold, it worked, first time, without issues... amazing stuff Tim Sweeney how about you fucking make a new unreal tournament game instead of a crappy bloated game engine?

GoG: noDRM and the option to use a Game parallel on multiple Systems is great for me to play Games with my Sons. Steamgames that don't have Local Multiplayer (remote play together) i have to buy 3 times to enjoy it with my Kids, which sucks massive.
Epic's free games are great, but I only ever bought 1 Game on Epic and still regret it. It was Assassins Creed Valhalla, which opens the f*****g Ubisoft Launcher. Also the Game is to big and to boring.

*doesn't say GoG*

Clearly *** is better than Epic. They actually let you keep and use the games you buy on multiple systems, not just tethered to the one PC you got it on. And wow, who would have thought of not making you install their bloated UI to play something on another System?

Both have their perks—GOG is great if you love DRM-free games and classic titles, while Epic Games Store often wins with free game giveaways and newer exclusives. Depends on whether you value ownership freedom or fresh deals more! 🎮

GOG, purely for the DRM-free side and the endless amount of older PC titles, some of which now are being worked on by them to have quality of life improvements to work on modern PCs
