Which characters do you think will be added in Mario Kart 9

Yes, I thought it was Mario Kart 8 Deluxe at first but I noticed that Mario was in a new kart as well as the race track not being in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, (see the second screenshot below) as Mario Kart 9 was shown at 1:41 in this reveal trailer:

That shot where the characters are facing the camera look so good. I wish the characters were illuminated like that from all camera angles. I never liked that unreal-like visual where they apply a realistic lightning to cartoon characters, which seems to be plaguing every modern game for quite a while now.

Maybe Nintendo will illuminate the characters from all camera angles in Mario Kart 9.

I've mainly been trying to think of then new feature/gimmick that Mario Kart 9 could have, since there's already gliders, driving underwater & anti-gravity parts.

if the amount of racers really is 24 i think theres a good chance for more deep cut characters from the mario franchise. i really want nabbit and king bob-omb!! oh and geno from smrpg would be so great too!

This is a very nerdy thing to wonder about but: will DK's redesign impact the rest of the DK family? They're all Rare designs, after all.

I think the base roster is going to be Mario mainstays and then they're going to add DLC guest characters for movie synergy.

Judging from MK8, Nintendo will most likely make another metal version of an existing character

Besides that, I'm hoping they add more characters outside of Mario such as Captain Falcon and even Kirby, just like how they did with Link and Villager

Well, like Clone in Smash Bros they also take less space and time to create.

Although it's now widely accepted that Metal Mario is a separate version of Mario like Dr. Mario in Melee. Hell, even Smash 64 basically introduced him as a mini-boss.

I still understand why people got upset at Pink Gold Peach and Gold Mario but I think it was mostly, like with baby variants of characters, to give a heavyweight alt for Mario and Peach.

It would've been better if the alt characters were given in a sub-menu like Yoshi's colours.
