Where are my Arcade shmup fans at?

Despite its name this thread isn't strictly about arcade shooters right?

I appreciate the SNES but I think the Mega Drive and PC Engine are the consoles for shmups.

I'm still confused about why they haven't ported it to PC nor the Switch.

I still find it interesting how the PS2 port got canned in favour of the 360 because of one transition towards the end that would've made the console lag.

The DS "semi spin-off" was also cool to see.

I play this on my handhelds my gaming PC build has the arcade version too.

Someday I'll get an arcade focused machine.

Either way I still find Ketsui Death Label worth trying because it's more of a training simulator.

I miss the era of superplay DVDs

One of my favs Capcom's Carrier Air Wing. Starring Sean Connery! (probably) lol

That's cool Sean Connery had a game.

I have always liked these old school SHMUPS but I'm ass at them. One my favorites is Gradius III on the SNES even though I've never made it past the second level. Giga Wing comes to mind the soundtrack is bangin' especially the boss theme. My earliest memories of playing the genre are with Varth: Operation Thunderstorm, which stood out because Ryu makes a cameo as a collectible item that increases your points I think.

I've always wanted to emulate Raiden III and IV but I've never figured it out.

Yes, i like STG as well, i even met one of Raiden's developer in TGS a year ago, the old one, he is retired recently.

And since I'm gamedev, naturally, i developed STG as well. It was small game, leaning to easy beginner STG.

I was thinking to buy arcade in my studio, but i think other owners wont let me as budget reasoning : ))

I want to build small arcade tbh, because my place is not big. Still need to find the correct reason : ))

Raiden III is easy on PCSX2

A little remaster on this with mega drive graphics and sound would be nice.

I want to try Gallop and R-Type Leo even if they're technically not mainline R-Type games.

Do you have any thoughts on these?

Raiden DX
Sorcer Striker
Dragon Blaze
Dimahoo
Same! Same! Same!
Parodius Da!
R Type

I've been shuffling around with these for some time. I recommend those for classic shmups.

I think my favorite shmup to this day is Dodonpachi DOJ/Reincarnation. Because I have played almost every shmup out there. And I still play this one and I haven't gotten burned out on it. I personally like black label. But I do enjoy the switch version and the recreated soundtracks.

I would like to see live wire or digital river port this game to the switch. But M2 shotriggers would be my preference. But I'm sure the switch is going to be at least 4 frames of input lag. But I will still continue to play it on my pc with retroarch.
