Oh yeah I forgot to mention those two because I still haven't bought them, but they are at the top of my shmup wishlist on Steam! They are really good!

I put off buying Cosmo Dreamer for so long just cos of it's artsyle but played it constantly when I finally did cave in (no pun intended)

I'm tempted to try out some NMK games on MAME - like Gunnail and Thunder Dragon 1 + 2

Still mad that Ketsui isn't on Steam (nor the Switch) yet...
sadly the licensing deal to publish those CAVE games on the Switch ran out (maybe even on Steam too?) and they're no longer available. I ended up downloading PS4 Ketsui and emulating it with ShadPS4, it's running pretty well now. Also got Battle Garegga Rev.2016 that one is such a good port. Just being able to change the very hard to see bullets into a bright color like hot pink makes the game much more readable.

Shooters are dead bro, go back to Japan

Welp, Ubusuna is cancelled, day ruined.

I know that it would end up like that because 14 years of development really shows something fishy was happening yet I still had some slight hope.

Maybe it would've ended up mediocre or not up to expectations as Radiant Silvergun and Ikaruga are great shooters (and the lore of the later is about breaking the cycle of the first game so I could hardly see how to do the third one) but I would've loved to see a prototype so that fans could work upon.

At least Kakuga on the 3DS is an unofficial third entry since it's the same director.

Black feathers rain down from the Sky People.
Their desire for annihilation for those who do not live on the Floats.
All that the surface can do is weep.
That is when Karous comes.

No other shmup does it for me like Karous which first released in arcades and was the very last game to hit the Dreamcast..

Any of Milestone / RS34's impeccable lineup of bullet hells that ooze so much style, i'm shocked it doesn't reek of something fierce if you know what I mean.
From the breakbeat parade of a incredible soundtrack brought to us by Daisuke Nagata & Kou Hayashi, a floorfiller duo who are almost programmed to never make a horrible song in their lives.

The gameplay always resonates to me in a incredible way. Use your Shot, your Sword, or your Shield, all are completely equal and valid playstyles. As your kill count with all three types increases, so does their innate level and their powers transform and become even stronger. The way this game pulls off the idea, it's like magic. I love braving my fears that cower me from approaching the top side of the screen like in other shoot them ups going gung-ho with a sword.

Everyone has their special game in the world, a precious item, be it material or immaterial that feels like they're grasping and holding their heart when they embrace it. Karous is that game to me. One of the videogames I have the closest to my heart. Karous is a magnificent example of what I love.

I'm really glad RS34 is releasing their games on Steam. Milestone works are something else and I hope they release other Radirgy games

Currently playing the first R-Type in the Dimensions pack. Screwing up a lot, but that's the part of the fun ::slime-roll

I hope Devil Blade 2 will get its reboot treatment as well.

I played so many shmups thanks to emulation. Toaplan, Raising, Cave shmups... Oh boy Cave. I wish they released more ports on Steam. I want to see Futari, Espgadula 2, Pink Sweets, Saidaioujou on PC.

As for real hardware, the only ones I got to play in the arcades were Gradius 3 and Zed Blade (the latter has a fantastic OST)

I bless emulation (especially how PS2 and Xbox 360 evolved to be much better) for most of Cave's but I still wish for more PC ports of them.

I cannot choose one console for shmups but the late 16-bits era and the 32-bits (especially the Saturn) had many great games. I feel like the 6th gen is when the genre slowly started to fade out (outside of Arcades).

Playing Daioujou seriously for the first time (Type B - Shotia), stage 3 bringing the heat...
