What's a game everyone loves but you don't like it?

i have tried but cannot get into Monster Hunter and have to simply accept there will come a time every now and then my friends all get their spare time eaten up by the newest one or decide to go back and replay an older entry they still like more

Persona 4 because it suffers the most from "preaching a message and then showing a completely different one." I also dislike P5 for that reason, but P4's characters just never captivated me, either. I tried to like it, but I just don't see any charm.
I am intrigued, I do like P5R a lot (90hrs), and liked P4 while I played it (about 10 hours only)..
I do like to understand the games from other people's perspectives, because I barely jumped into them..
I am also playing P2-IS and I really do like Social Sims, as I say I am new to the genre...

So I am intrigued, not opposed, by your comment.. would you care to elaborate on that?
I want to gain the widest perspective possible to fully appreciate the genre, with its pros and cons.

Persona 4's message, whether you think it's to be yourself or to not suppress your true desires, is undercut by its trend of not really allowing that, instead having everyone submit to society. Either it's never explored despite being something pretty core to the character (given how early you are, Chie is the first instance of this, and likely the only you've seen so far aside from maybe the Devil slink), or wraps up with a convenient "I guess I wanted what was expected of me after all!" The ones who don't do that are the villains.

With P5, it's less egregiously bad, but it has more of a sort of anti-rebellion undertone in it. I can't really describe it because I didn't hate P5 enough to vividly remember why I dislike it, like I do with P4. But I remember that during my Royal playthrough, with Kaneshiro and Makoto, the game kinda felt like it sided with Kaneshiro? That he was right, and Makoto is only worth the value of her labour. That she's worthless as she is, and if she needs to kill herself to be useful, then she should do that. I stopped immediately after realizing that, and so I can't point to any reason in specific as to why that is. If you choose not to believe me for that reason, I'd completely understand.

No, you a right.
I call them SA simulators because slimey monsters want to hug you, bite you, lick you, and consume you in both games, and you can barely run away from them, like in PTSD nightmares.
The metaphors I mention only add to the mystic of the horror of assault.

I am surprised tho, you don't see the sexual abuse elements in all the deform bodies in SH with their BDSM mutilations and devices, they look like Sexual Serial Killer victims, all of them.
Also do not forget the restrooms in the schools, and the janitor, SA is prevalent as a theme of abuse, among other forms of abuse (such as religious torture and cults).

Resident Evil feels much less sexual, if at all, but my experience with the game was the same, it felt like my PTSD nightmares. LOL
I see them, it's just that I think you're basing your whole view of SH on SH2, but yeah, all team silent games have some sexual references on them, calling all that assault, like I said, only applies to 2. To be fair they said it's about sex and death. And pretty much everything is about that on those games.

Has anyone ever done a re-translation rom for it?
I am unsure.

Probably not a super hot take here, but I've tried on multiple occasions to play the FF7 Remake and just can't get into it. I like the original, but the Remake's slow pacing and iffy combat turns me off each time I try.

I haven't tried Rebirth, I can't get through the first one to even get there.
The story is the biggest hurdle for me. It's just... kinda garbage.

X is better. So is Rockman and Forte.

Turns out Cloud isn't suffering Mako poisoning. It's more like an addiction, some kinda subtle social commentary on drugs.

That and the fact Cloud isn't actually his name. Just some edgey crap he picked for himself.

FF7's the victim of many translation errors, but this isn't one of them. It's actually 'addiction' in Crisis Core that's the mistranslation. 中毒 is the word, and it can mean both addiction and poisoning. Overdose would also make sense. Even without going to confirmation from outside sources, we can know it's not addiction because... addiction is never what's portrayed in the game. Cloud is never fiending for mako or showing a desire to get mako into his body. At his worst, he's almost insensate.

The matter gets more muddled when Dirge of Cerberus introduces the DG soldiers or whatever who actually are distinctly addicted to mako, lol. So mako seems to definitely be a thing you can get addicted to, but Cloud only ever regards it passively.

Have read more about FF7 than any human should but have never heard this claim about his name before.

neways I PLAYED witcher 3 recently. I played with a mod that made a noble effort to make the gameplay better. And it worked for a little bit...
I think... the open world really did the game's story a disservice. There are some nice setpieces and some interesting bits of scenario writing, but it is just bogged down in so, so much pointless crap. So much that they couldn't even conclude all the threads that were set up in the previous games.

Sorry fellow Mega Man fans, I don't see what's so "BEST MEGA MAN EVAR" about this one. The music is amazing and the game itself is decent but I don't like how the game straight up gives up on any level design after the maverick stages. Also not too big on the story either.

it's because it has the greatest voice acting ever

Sonic CD.
I really appreciate how the JP and US soundtracks are both unique and distinct from each other, and the stages have some of the most beautiful aesthetics for a Sonic game; however, they are unfortunately ruined by what is likely the worst level design in a classic Sonic game yet.

Also, the Spin Dash feels clunkier and somewhat unresponsive at times when compared to later Sonic games, and the "past-future" mechanic was poorly executed; it wasn't fitting for a fast-paced 2D game and overall felt like an unnecessary addition to the game.

Silent Hill.

I hate those Sexual Assault simulators.
Plus tank controls are a thing of nightmares.
OH HELL NO NOT MY BOY HARRY

Idk man i found SH1 to be great besides the voice acting the controls... I found them tolerable , btw resident evil is vegan propaganda not SA simulator you eat herb = healing and good stuff

Zombie love flesh = bad guy the analogy is very easy to see

I thought it was weed, and represented consuming weed to cope with crime and murder.

Breath of the Wild and God of War (2016)

I'm also a Breath of the Wild disliker, but I also still think that the game is incredible and fun and it's one of the best ever.

I just don't really like the story and always thought it was really underwelming. I think having the ability to technically end the game at any time really made for a difficult situation for the writers and I think they didn't do a great job. Everything interesting just ends so abruptly in such an anticlimactic way. ALSO I really dislike that Link canonically wears BLUE now. He doesn't even wear his hat! They took his HAT!

That being said, I am a bigger fan of Tears of the Kingdom. I think it fixed everything I didn't like about BotW.

I just hope they take the series in a different direction though, I feel like we've gotten everything we can out of what they did with those two games now.

I'm a big Mega Man X4 person and I think it's one of the best, but I completely agree with the level design being lackluster.

The bigger sprites makes for less screen space to work so they went all in on action instead. Rarely has anything with vertical scrolling even!

Tears of The Kingdom. I was so pumped for it. Shit is a faulty DLC pack. I heard Nintendo needed every last second they could to program it... So we're just straight up lying nowadays huh? BoTW ver1.2 doesn't even cover it as a joke. More like BoTW Beta. Same exact map? Hello!? Don't talk to me about the added verticality of Hyrule. Sounds like a great idea, Yakuza 4 has my favourite Kamurocho for the same reason. But the sky islands... Oh those 4 or 5 specs of land up there? What sky islands!? There's more gameplay waiting up in the sky in Terraria. As for the depths, there's nothing down there!

My biggest gripe though is the tedium. EVERYTHING takes way longer than it should. It's always resources. Go farm this, oh but you need to always be stocking up on Zonai shit. Weapons, gotta have something on hand at all times to make them do decent damage. Can't just pick up a sword and use it, nope all your weapons have to be some ugly mutation that looks terrible on Link's back. It's faster to just forget about the Zonai arm and just do everything yourself with a big ass stamina ring and a bizzare love for slowly scaling things and battling the same 3 enemies.

Never buying a game full price on release again. I would never anyway but a sequel to a game I loved so much from as reliable a name as Nintendo. I thought it was a gurenteed banger. Nope, the one company I gave slack resorted to copy/paste bullshit too. Nothing is sacred. I learned my lesson. Fuck 'em, and there overpriced Steam Deck. I'm gonna have to hear some really good things about it first and even then, full price? You're out of your mind.

What makes 4 bad?
Obviously I'm not panda, but I couldn't get into 4 either. Everything feels weird, the driving, the walking, the combat, story is basically the same as 3. Style is weird and blurry (graphics). Ran like ass when released on consoles. Just to name a few.

I did not like Undertale.

I thought the shump part was sort of cool but did not like characters, vibe or the story. I felt it lacked subtlety and was sort of preachy too.

Sort of screams "lOoK hOw QuIrKy I aM" to me also.

Also weird how the only two meaningful ways to play the game are to kill every single enemy or not kill any at all.

Undertale inspired my favourite video-game-game-show "Aesthetic or Lazy Visual Design?" Indie games can't afford to look as good as they probably wish, but some you have to wonder. Is it 16-bit because it's just easier and cheaper? Or did they really envision that when they imagined they dream game.

Undertale is very much a textbook LVD. It is NOT a vibe, it's fucking boring. I'd say it looks like dogshit but it hardly looks at all! Gameplay and graphics are just lazy. I don't care if it was only made by one guy, if it's bad, it's bad. It's not like the little box you dodge things in is small because it would block the view of anything. The screen is always at least 85% BLACK! Use that real estate!

Really it's Lets Play fodder before anything. If you've seen someone else play it. You've experienced it.

Should of just made music for other games because that's the only thing Mr. Undertale is good at.
