What's a game everyone loves but you don't like it?

Final Fantasy series, can't connect with any of the ones I played(I to XII), I always end up leaving them unfinished and with a bad taste of excessive grinding, an almost irrational aversion, with the more "realistic" art style and more simple i End up more bored than when I started to play them.

I can gush about God Hand all I want, but nothing beats going outside with your friends and beating each other to a bloody pulp with sticks.

Who needs Street Fighter when you can slap your friend's fingers until they are red?

YES I love FF8 I was just singing its battle theme , the GF system allow all summons to be useful solving a long standing problem like in FF4 of FF5 or FF6 or 7 and even 9 had summons like shiva , ifrit and ramuh get weaker overtime , FF8 solves this problem which is one of the best things the game made.

The junction system replaces the usual equipment system but allows for so much customization I for example went tanky squall with big reliance on shiva as a summon and my damage , in disc 4 I switched to speed focused and high melee damage not to mention the fact that the gunblade has this unique interaction where you can fire it using R1 causing more damage when I realized I can deal more damage like this in disc 4 (yes quistis telling me at the first fight went over my head as I read R1 as L1 instead) it was a huge discovery.

Not to mention the battle preparation animation that syncs with the music so well basically "its time to kick ass" FF8 is when square really went a mile ahead in terms of animation , and a solution to a problem in 7 that is the limit break replacing attack command in 7 it was a big problem I ran into and 8 solves this by just making it a swipe to the right like so simple but so effective.

Speaking of limit breaks FF8 has a unique mechanic for each character limit break , as squall you have this bar that you need to press R1 to deal more damage and I think the special move can be casted if you do something idk what it is honestly I just think its not randomly casted , with zell limit break bringing back blitz from FF6 thing is you can auto the moves he does but he deals less damage so it becomes this fun puzzle where you gotta memorize the moves just like FF6 gets you into that master martial artist vibe.

Oh and I can't forget irvine limit break such a dopamine hit when he locks and loads and unleashes fiery fury upon the enemy with unique ammo types honestly I think irvine stats wise is meh but his strength comes from his limit break like the ex turk from FF7.

Not to mention the junk shop making fighting not only to level up but to get better weapons and the better the gunblade the better the unique special attack is with anime tier camera movement and animation far as I got was the twin lance and cutting trigger I didn't get the others.

The draw system was said to get tedious but devs foresaw this and made a refining mechanic it makes playing cards actually has an impact on the game other than just a mini game for the LOLZ.

But bro it gets better ever felt annoyed by constant random encounters when you are trying to solve some puzzle or go into an early dungeon cuz you forgot something? The game remedies this by for the first time ever in the series introducing a halving encounter rate and making no encounters at all a possible option this keeps the pace fast and in dungeons like the odin one prevents you from running into tonberry you want to get to a place fast? Just put in no encounters and you will get there , want to fight but not too much? Half encounters!

Oh and another thing previous games had enemies with a set level that never changes , FF8 introduced dynamic difficulty how high of a level you adjusts enemy levels too , this keeps enemies capable of fighting back although one thing this system doesn't change is health save for enemies in Ultimecia castle.

Speaking of Ultimecia castle its the best end zone I seen in FF game so far , the game forces you to go out of your comfort zone by locking everything you have depended on leaving you with melee attack only , some will get mad at this and call it BS but I see it as a good test of the player capabilities and how well he can handle himself when handicapped , filled with puzzles that are honestly pretty challenging and a great looking design add on it a theme that is very reminiscent of FF6 dancing mad final stage how do I know its reminiscent of that particular stage? Both have similar build up and other things I can't fully recall right now.

Oh and characters are very likeable and a great story , and the sorceress introduction deserves an award man easily top tier in introducing the villain by a gigantic parade , oh and before I forget can we talk about SEED system? You raise it by Doing tests with questions about various gameplay things and I think some story ones too its a good way of testing how well informed you are about gameplay stuff

And finally music come on man this doesn't even need me to talk about it , idk why but I know and everyone knows FF is always excellent in music but I have to bring it up I just have to.

Alright enough about FF8 , what's a game I don't like but everyone does? I would say Resident evil 1 because its a mid game no in fact a below average game , and WarCraft 2 because its gameplay is outdated.

I might get banned but the ps1 FF7.
I love 8 and above tho...

FF7 is overrated, but the localization probably is heavily to blame for that.

As for overrated old beloved title?

Dark Cloud. Easily Level 5's weakest title and the sequel improved on it in every way.

There's always been some healthy skepticism on FFVII in the fanbase. I remember looking at the previews of FFVII and not being super excited about it at first glance. The hype and CGI cutscenes eventually won everyone over, but I think most Final Fantasy fans who aren't specifically FF7 fans can admit that there are some serious flaws with the game.
Same happened to me with IX and VI but I love VII and VIII

Is your profile picture meant to be the troll face if you squint? LOL.

What changed with the localization, or at least some of big things? I've never seen someone talk about this with 7.
Zack's motivations, the whole deal with Jenohava and Sephiroth was a lot better explained.

Turns out Cloud isn't suffering Mako poisoning. It's more like an addiction, some kinda subtle social commentary on drugs.

A lot of context was lost in the eng translation, sadly.

That and the fact Cloud isn't actually his name. Just some edgey crap he picked for himself.
