Shadow of Collosus, God Hand
It's not a hot take there are a lot of people on the internet who hate the Kingdom Hearts series and make memes making fun of it. I honestly only like the games up to 358/2 Days, after that the series became a real clusterfuck especially in terms of narrative.I might get a lot of hate, but, Kingdom Hearts. I have played it on my PS2, but I just can't get into the combat system and complex story. And Disney with Final Fantasy characters just feels odd to me. When I think of Disney games, I think of the ones Capcom and Sega made which have better gameplay.
Absolutly true . BG3 wasnt overall great . And i agree . The story was very hard to enjoy while the characters are extremly cringe at best (with maybe some slight exceptions) .I honestly think all of Larian's games suffer from cringe, insufferable narration and characters. I'm surprised they don't get called out more on this. I do enjoy the gameplay and freedom of Larian games but the storytelling is very hit or miss. Somehow they've been able to gaslight the community into thinking they have good stories and characters.
Hey man, did you play the first three Paper Mario games? I just want to knowMost Mario games except Sunshine.

Even if they did, I totally get not enjoying them.Hey man, did you play the first three Paper Mario games? I just want to know![]()
Have you played TTYD and SPM?Even if they did, I totally get not enjoying them.
Shock and awe: some people don’t like to play Mario RPG’s for a variety of reasons, most relating to their battle mechanics, but also relating to their world design and map travel.
Took me a LONG TIME to appreciate Paper Mario. I’m happy I got there, but it took nearly a decade.
Yes.Have you played TTYD and SPM?
I Love TTYD and SPM a lot, especially the stories and characters, Can you explain why you prefer 64 over the rest? I know you're going to say that TTYD backtracking is boring or whatever.Yes.
It’s actually those games IN PARTICULAR I’m referring to.
I’m a weirdo who prefers 64 over all others. Second fav is Super.
Feel free to attack me :3
Actually not the case! I just… don’t vibe with the world of TTYD. Characters yes! And plot points yes. But… I didn’t care for Rogue Port as a location and first impressions are everything to me.I Love TTYD and SPM a lot, especially the stories and characters, Can you explain why you prefer 64 over the rest? No but I plan to. They seem fun. I’ll pick up a Thousand Year door when I find it.Hey man, did you play the first three Paper Mario games? I just want to know![]()
Do so! I plan to play TTYD again someday using my modded Wii and playing it with my boyfriend! He helped me through Super, so I know he can make me appreciate TTYD as well!No but I plan to. They seem fun. I’ll pick up a Thousand Year door when I find it.
I've always been much more of a fan of the edgy and subversive writing style of TTYD and SPM over 64, I Love how these two games weren't afraid of breaking the Mario mold and be more weirder and darker than your average Mario game, I love Rogueport as a setting and I really relate to it because I am a middle-class Brazilian who lives in a country where poverty and misery are gigantic. And Rogueport reminds me of favelas where violence and poverty are the norm. I also identify with Vivian's story of her being a victim of abuse and her being a trans woman who was constantly marginalized by her abusive family. And she deciding to leave her abusive family to be with the man she loves.Actually not the case! I just… don’t vibe with the world of TTYD. Characters yes! And plot points yes. When I played Super, I had somebody helping push me through to the fun stuff. Experience is everything. It’s the reason why people love the games they do. Some games just speak to you, y’know?
For 64, I love it’s brighter world and I think it fits the Paper Mario I have in my head. When I think of the grander Mario RPG’s, I think of Mario and Luigi due to their similarity in aesthetic to the normal Mario world. For the Paper series, I like it to be goofy and fun! More storybook like! Super isn’t that way, but it still works because it has this “corrupted computer program” vibe that I really like.

That said, TTYD has WAY BETTER PARTNERS.View attachment 50517
I kinda wish these two games could merge in some way. All the improvements of the sequel, but the tone and vibes of the original.
That’s why my favorite Paper Mario game is Bug Fables :3
I very much want to have the same or similar connection to this game as you do! That goes for all the games I’ve mentioned so far in this thread: I’m sad I don’t love these games like other people, and I’d like to have that adoration. It’s more fun to be happy, usually!I've always been much more of a fan of the edgy and subversive writing style of TTYD and SPM over 64, I Love how these two games weren't afraid of breaking the Mario mold and be more weirder and darker than your average Mario game, I love Rogueport as a setting and I really relate to it because I am a middle-class Brazilian who lives in a country where poverty and misery are gigantic. I also love the whimsical and cozy tone of the first Paper Mario game, and I also love the Mario & Luigi Games and Super Mario RPG, but TTYD and SPM are very important games to me and they are games that mean a lot to me, I really love the messages and themes that these two games have, especially the messages about love and the importance of having relationships and friendships with other people. the importance of loving the world even though it's not perfect and in general loving who you are.I very much want to have the same or similar connection to this game as you do! Kick the can was far firer than this Poke-and-eye-man kids these days playAll video games are overrated. Cops and robbers, hide and seek. Those were real games.
I can gush about God Hand all I want, but nothing beats going outside with your friends and beating each other to a bloody pulp with sticks. All video games are overrated. Cops and robbers, hide and seek. Those were real games.

FF7 is overrated, but the localization probably is heavily to blame for that.
