Also, yeah it's the closest one in terms of gameplay to God of War, so it's my pick for a "clone". But does that make it better than the GoW games of the Greek era? Nah, but it's an awesome game nonetheless, i wish they gave us more coop in these kind of games, it's awesome.
i feel like a few of those games aren't trying to copy GoW.
specifically no more heroes. i love that game and it would be my pick to answer your question, but as far as im aware all NMHs has in common with GoW is that they're both really bloody action games.
I meant in terms of similar attitude and having a villain protagonist with a bad attitude. Also, action command finishers, but a different variety. NMH and MW are complete clones and do their own thing, but it's pretty clear where Suda and Platinum got some of their inspirations from. More Jack with MadWorld especially.
Get it right. I never once called Gungrave a hack n slash. Other than Jyuji from Gungrave Overdose, but he's really the only sword focused character in one game, so he really does not count much. I said Gungrave part of the stylish action genre, except it is more shooter focused. You can have a stylish action game be a third person shooter. Though in GORE, Grave and Bunji gets increased melee focused moves that can be upgraded.
Vanquish is stylish action 3rd person shooter, and most people have no issue saying this. Evil West is an over-the-shoulder brawler/shooter hybrid. Next time, don't put words in my mouth. Especially when I never said that to begin with.
