Unpopular Music Opinions

Screamo isn't metal

wdym with "average experimental music fan"? most ones I know or have seen on the internet can appreciete free/avant-jazz
I’ve had the opposite experience at least irl. Like half the people I meet who say they like expiremental music just like death grips or JPEG mafia which is fine it just makes me chuckle a bit when imagining them listening to like “ father, the son and the Holy Ghost” by John Coltrane or whatever

Amen break is the most overrated drum sample ever
Overrated? Not really, I still like hearing it as long as the sample is creatively done.

Overused? Yes, absolutely but are there samples as iconic for drum 'n bass and Jungle?

On the other hand I really wish I could like reggae a bit more.

And my unpopular opinion of the day is that music being sad/slow sounding doesn't necessarily makes it much better than happier/more energetic one.

I think Bob Dylan is a bit overrated,
Oh he’s an absolutely terrible performer and not even himself would doubt that, but as a songwriter he is unmatched in his genre. His body of work when filtered through better singers/musicians is incredible.

the response for Forever Howlong has been so exhausting I hate Windmill Scene fans all they do is fight over the most unimportant bullshit

I don't think there's any truly bad music, it's just not for me. I know it's not a shocking opinion to have but I haven't seen anyone else with it.

Black Country, New Road - "For the First Time" is much better than "Ants from Up There"

Discovered through gta vc, forever ago and still remains as one of my favorite bands today:Depeche Mode.

"Syntetizers...because you don't know your a musician...until you try one"-A Jab at the Synt Pop trend in the 80s by a classic rock station radio host

Radiohead is rather mediocre. The Bends was their last good album.

Ehhh...

I can hardly call "4′33″ music.
Although it's quite bullshitty i'd say it's more of a "performance" or conceptual art. I read somewhere that the content of the "piece" is all the ambience and little noises we notice after being a while in silence.

Something like Warhol's Empire or the Paint Drying film

This is the kind of thing our friends would play at a jam session while wasted as fuck thinking we're the next Pink Floyd until we listen to the audios the next day (????)

That’s what I was told when learning about it a long while ago.

That's why I'm not too harsh about it, I appreciate people trying to push the limits of artistic expression, no matter how high or low quality/effort it may be perceived.

So I guess saying I kinda "get" 4'33 is a hot take hehe

My only issue about "artistic expressions" is that we cannot be sure if they're done by misunderstood geniuses or truly opportunistic talentless hacks that only managed to communicate and sell their "concepts" well.

Composing isn't easy and breaking out is even less.
