(Unofficial) RGT Mascot

They are still looking for a sad emoji and a wink emoji.

Not too sure what's the max pixel size for the emotes, but I did a quick recycle of my last thing for a wink in 40x40? There's a still or gif version.

As for sad if you're still looking for suggestions I have Kirby 3's "didn't pick" Chuchu. Or maybe we can look into some other classics for sad emotes.

According to Spike, reaction emojis need to be 32x32.

Yeah, I kinda thought it was around the 30s when I was looking at the duck hunt one. 32x32 is definitely a small canvas haha. It just might be better to find a retro pixel gif after all!

When Lemmings was made they were looking to see if they could make convincing motions and characters within a 8x8, but found they could go as small as 5x5 for animations and movement.

But for non-lemmings, i agree a pixelart is kinda going to be needed, on par with NES or Genesis art.

Resized an anime face and... yeah not a lot to work with.

I could clean it up but not sure if it will be decipherable at this size.

Nah, you guys are both right!
32x32 "anime wink RGT-tan" is possible I'm sure but that would require redrawing. & the Kirby one, yeaaah I don't know, I thought it looked better on the sprite sheet but at it's default size it's honestly a mess. Don't mind me guys!

GIMP may work... but i usually use a combination ImageMagick and Paint. If i need to do something fairly intense yeah GIMP will be the tool of choice right now. Though i miss JASC's Paint Shop Pro...

Man, the poor RGT-fan art thread lol.

you may have to redraw it

It's just the nature of the sprite. Always gotta remember the it wasn't even that small on the actual SNES. We should just ditch Chuchu asap lol. There's plenty of others to find, I'm sure!

Honestly a lot of these SNES sprites just don't read as good in true pixel size.

it's possible. i didn't notice until i zoomed in after opening the pics up in gimp that they had shadowing on them. that could hinder the image quality at such a small size. that's a lot of info to put into a small space.

I did one last redraw in 32x32 but whether or not it reads as RGT-san or even as a wink at all is entirely up to you guys. I rest my case!

At any rate RGT-tan can officially now be displayed on a Dreamcast VMU:
