Patch info: This unofficial patch translates the complete Tricolore Crise event script: 11,224 unique strings covering 14,995 locations on disc. It also covers 1,175 system-text entries and all 43 identified battle-UI entries. The patch includes in-disc English artwork for the title menu, status and magic screens, Options, and system-message plates, so the translated interface works on compatible Dreamcast hardware as well as emulators. This is a functional completion release. Some replacement artwork prioritizes readability over a perfect visual recreation, and a few non-blocking Japanese branding/splash graphics remain. Japanese name-entry character grids are intentionally retained because they are input tables. Features Complete English […]

What do you mean "massaging my ego"? If you're not going to throw a proper argument my way and critique my points (which I'm all for), then how else do you expect me to respond? Lets be real and rational about this instead of throwing cheap smears like this, the internet has more than enough of that already.
who are you and why should i care if you suck at reading comprehension?

Lol. The localizers, the people PAID to do translations of these games, should be the ones earning your ire. Had they done their jobs properly in the first place, you wouldn't have people salivating over even the *worst* fan translations to come out. Certainly, this game didn't have one to begin with, but the point still stands, and will continue standing long after these clown turds lose their jobs to AI.
Why would you blame 'localizers' for work they never got the chance to do? If a game was too niche to warrant a translation, that's unfortunate but much more of a wider issue than just blaming the people who would have happily done the work.

i thought we were here to play & preserve games; and it just feels like it's become more about massaging the ego of terminally online weirdo's like @GoodGods around here lately.

i dont really know what your particular beef with professional localization is, but i also can't imagine caring. some of us grew up on the magic that folks like ted woosley were able to cram into mere kilobytes of space, and literally none of that has a thing to do with the arduous labor of love the actual fan translation community puts into often text heavy games literally decades after publishers decided they weren't "commercially viable"

feel free to tip localizers with thankfully more knowledge & perspective than you, and take the axe you have to grind about loli censoring or vagina bones or whatever else it is back to the discord channel of your choice, it's got nothing to do with this

Figures you can't critique my actual point. You'd rather bleed your heart out for those whom lack the drive to succeed where AI has failed. No-one wants AI to become the standard, but that's where the industry is headed because western human translators have failed to provide in it's place. We now have people willing to pour in untenable amounts of their life into making the best translation they can, but if they give up because someone else took the easy route, then they never should have bothered in the first place.

It's unfortunate this person chose to give up, but I'm not throwing a pity party for Him or Her in this context.
*eyes are glazing over* sorry bud im not engaging further to make you feel better about yourself; you'll have to do your own masturbation this time.

Enjoy eating up that slop, hog

People who say MTLs are "inoffensive" or "better than nothing" seriously need to be educated on the subject. It's ridiculous, and the curators aren't helping by uploading these, talking about how they're not promoting an agenda is laughable, you clearly are and it's easy to see with how you're handling the situation.
Deeply disappointed with the site as of late. I guess it was to be expected because of that whole fiasco with Spike's AI usage in a Twitter post recently and how he doubled down on it later.
I'm glad someone's said it..because at risk of offending a few people here; It's felt pretty depressing; where checking the site used to be something I looked forward to; now if I see a new translation now, I feel a ping of dread... idk; I'd say more but I was/am already kind of afraid of being yelled at or called a 'luddite' for having my own opinion on the direction things have been heading for rgt. It feels like an increasingly unwelcome opinion to have at times...and that's not the whole site and that's not the whole community; which is sad because there's a lot I do like here...idk, i dont have to play these; just depressing a bit

"But this is the type of stuff that makes real people who spent many months and years working to make the best translation possible quit. Because people like this are putting out a bad translation with zero care given to the propriety, or even attempting to do it right."
So because someone did it poorly, using AI/mtl, that means those whom actually put in time and effort should just give up? Shouldn't this incentivize these *real* translators to put their best foot forward in SPITE of this *AI slop*, to prove they have the gumption and drive to succeed where this one fails? The original fantl's behind Princess Crown sat on their asses for 12 years before someone else came along and did it in a fraction of the time, despite the original fantl's pissing and moaning about it? It sounds like THIS *translator* is just being another pissy bitch.
You slop-loving hogs are absolutely destroying this scene and this hobby.

While I am reluctant to comment on a sloplation, since this one has had a real translation in progress possibly die as a result, this particularly one is worse than usual. Apparently the names in this LLM shit weren't even correct until they were told by someone else. So the quality on this one is going to be particularly low, if glancing at the text in handful of screenshots didn't make that obvious.

Some quotes from the BlueSky account of the person on the fan-translation scene who was working on a REAL translation of this game:

"I have been working on this game with a real proper translation for quite some time now. This whole thing has just been a slap to my face for all the time and effort I've put into making something great for this great game. This person gives zero F's about this game; they just chose it because."

"It's clear as day based off the post they have made and images they have shown; they don't know anything about it. They did not even bother to use the right character names for characters until I pointed it out. That they clearly don't care. Sorry im a little peeved about it"

Nice to see (yet!) another translation for an obscure Dreamcast game out there!

AI or not, It's better than nothing - which is exactly what we had before this was released.

Many thanks!
Except the person who was working on a proper translation of this is now quitting. So we're left with just the slop.

what the luddites say will happen if we play machine translated roms:
Arnold Schwarzenegger Terminator GIF by Filmin

"the printing press will destroy writers"
"the tractor will destroy farmers"
"photography will destroy art"
"motion pictures will destroy the theater"
"GC will destroy hand drawn animation"

you luddites have been having this same argument for centuries...and lost

get over yourself and let those who waited years to play this in english (like me) do so in peace
yo dawg, did you consider those inventions were much lesser than AI? You dumbites have been losing your jobs to tech for centuries.

It's genuinely disappointing every time I see a machine translation go up on this site. Now that I'm seeing actual fan translators being bothered by these it feels wrong to keep silent. The people who put the blood, sweat, tears, and time into fan translations deserve better than to have their work served up alongside this soulless tripe.

Expecting people to have to do additional research [before] downloading something like this is just not a good way to go about it. It would be better to be able to be at least somewhat informed about what you're getting into.

It'd be like looking at an itch.io or Steam entry for a game and it only has the title screen and one or two shots of screens from the menu in the game and then not telling you anything about the game except whatever language it has or something.

I knew about this game the other day when I read about it after seeing it had a translation for it

I tried this on fly cast on an old phone. Runs perfect. If it'll run good on this it'll run good on anything. I always get excited if I see an RPG for dreamcast. That console would have been more than capable of running squaresoft games if it ever had any.

I wish this were a human-made translation, but for people who say this is not remotely legible or they spotted right away that this was AI... You must not have experienced a lot of fan-translations. Especially the ones that translated japanese text literally with no regard for the difference between languages, which even AI doesn't do, ironically enough.
This looks plenty legible for me. Even ai English still beats Engrish!

Read that comment you replied to and try your hardest to understand what it's actually saying.

Needs at least 7 more screenshots in the gallery for this. There's nothing to show what the actual gameplay looks like. This is a turn based jrpg starring a party of three female lead characters with a story revolving around a magic academy. From the description and screenshots alone there's no actual info on what the game is actually like.

You should do like how me and Alma do and put a paragraph or few sentences summarizing the story of the game and what playing it actually feels like. I know it's not a requirement to actually have more than 3 basic screenshots and even leave a description at all by just leaving that automatic starting line the post editor adds, but I think it's a good practice and shows you actually somewhat care about what you're uploading.

It's also nice to have a YouTube video in the description if the translation team made some kind of trailer or teaser for the release. Although I don't know if this translation has one (probably not)
