Patch info: This unofficial patch translates the complete Tricolore Crise event script: 11,224 unique strings covering 14,995 locations on disc. It also covers 1,175 system-text entries and all 43 identified battle-UI entries. The patch includes in-disc English artwork for the title menu, status and magic screens, Options, and system-message plates, so the translated interface works on compatible Dreamcast hardware as well as emulators. This is a functional completion release. Some replacement artwork prioritizes readability over a perfect visual recreation, and a few non-blocking Japanese branding/splash graphics remain. Japanese name-entry character grids are intentionally retained because they are input tables. Features Complete English […]

Nice to see (yet!) another translation for an obscure Dreamcast game out there!

AI or not, It's better than nothing - which is exactly what we had before this was released.

Many thanks!

"the printing press will destroy writers"
"the tractor will destroy farmers"
"photography will destroy art"
"motion pictures will destroy the theater"
"GC will destroy hand drawn animation"

yo dawg, did you consider those inventions were much lesser than AI? You dumbites have been losing your jobs to tech for centuries.

It's genuinely disappointing every time I see a machine translation go up on this site. Now that I'm seeing actual fan translators being bothered by these it feels wrong to keep silent. The people who put the blood, sweat, tears, and time into fan translations deserve better than to have their work served up alongside this soulless tripe.

Don't you have a search bar in your browser? ::happy-harkinian
Expecting people to have to do additional research [before] downloading something like this is just not a good way to go about it. It would be better to be able to be at least somewhat informed about what you're getting into.

It'd be like looking at an itch.io or Steam entry for a game and it only has the title screen and one or two shots of screens from the menu in the game and then not telling you anything about the game except whatever language it has or something.

I knew about this game the other day when I read about it after seeing it had a translation for it

I tried this on fly cast on an old phone. Runs perfect. If it'll run good on this it'll run good on anything. I always get excited if I see an RPG for dreamcast. That console would have been more than capable of running squaresoft games if it ever had any.

I wish this were a human-made translation, but for people who say this is not remotely legible or they spotted right away that this was AI... You must not have experienced a lot of fan-translations. Especially the ones that translated japanese text literally with no regard for the difference between languages, which even AI doesn't do, ironically enough.
This looks plenty legible for me. Even ai English still beats Engrish!

Read that comment you replied to and try your hardest to understand what it's actually saying.

Needs at least 7 more screenshots in the gallery for this. There's nothing to show what the actual gameplay looks like. This is a turn based jrpg starring a party of three female lead characters with a story revolving around a magic academy. From the description and screenshots alone there's no actual info on what the game is actually like.

You should do like how me and Alma do and put a paragraph or few sentences summarizing the story of the game and what playing it actually feels like. I know it's not a requirement to actually have more than 3 basic screenshots and even leave a description at all by just leaving that automatic starting line the post editor adds, but I think it's a good practice and shows you actually somewhat care about what you're uploading.

It's also nice to have a YouTube video in the description if the translation team made some kind of trailer or teaser for the release. Although I don't know if this translation has one (probably not)

The words "human slop" say a lot about how this person views art and creativity. View attachment 210453
"Human slop" lol. That's new. But yeah, like it's been said before, neither extremes on the ai discussion helps anyone. Ai can be helpful to speed up the process, but it doesn't substitute humans

I think he's just messing with the anti-AI guys lol.
Alot of people like to make comments here calling slop everything made by AI, and getting defensive when they could just ignore this stuff.

It's funny to hear "human slop", obviously said comically, and people getting angry for real lmao.

Just a heads up, this needs to be marked as machine translated https://www.dreamcast-talk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=202922#p202912

The "dreamcast translation kit" is an ai tool kit https://github.com/closedsockets/dreamcast-translation-kit

and there's no mention of an actual translator on the gihub page https://github.com/closedsockets/tricolore-crise-english-patch
Yeah, I played the early segments, and fortunately I was able to tell it was AI from the get go. It feels soulless as hell. (funny that hell actually has a lot more soul than this)

Nice, but, can someone also upload the english patched ZOOL: MAJYŪ CHARMER LEGEND?

I can't find the correct rom for patching.

EDIT: someone already uploaded it as patched in the thread, here: https://workupload.com/file/MUn3m2XnKS6 (uploaded by cocik26761)
New n64 translation, that's something rare to see. If no one uploads this to the repo, i'll get to it later.

A new dreamcast RPG, that's really cool.
So many translation projects that we have no idea exist until they release.

Thanks, I didn't know about that. The github page clearly doesn't mention anything about it.

Description and tags updated to reflect this.

Somebody at Dreamcast-Talk mentioned in the thread that there's someone called Yuvi who is working on a human-made translation, but I couldn't find anything related to add to the post.
