I've done it more than I've seen it from others hehe, what can I say? It's completely normal, he who has never gotten mad at a game knows shit. But there's a difference between throwing insults like a MF and being outright toxic, something who is the later will never be appeased and in that case best is to leave him alone till it passes. You encountered it at one point all of us certainly had a toxic encounter with another player in a game we played online we all know how it looks like and how it feels.
Once you understand that all those insults are just the result of rage, a human emotion, you start seeing things better. When it happens I just try to calm my homies or expect them to draw a line when it happens to me so I don't fuck it up.
If it gets out of bounds well, there's a reason why you can block people in most forums and games, but I'd never do that, unless it's some jackass (uncommon, but they exist) you can always reason with some kind words.
At the end of the day, it all gets resolved with a "nigga calm the fuck down it's just a game" were here to have fun, not stress our asses to the moon

I can't think of a more miserable position in terms of dealing with toxicity than a fucking guild leader in that gamei was a guild leader in wow.

I always wanted to be guild leader... but always relegated that position to a friend out of kindness. Hats off to you for doing one of my childhood dreams

About toxicity WoW certainly attracted that kind of shit on itself, it didn't help that it's mechanics were very predatory so players were always fed up. In that regard FFXI had an advantage over WoW, that albeit still abusive in the player sometimes, it was a nicer game with a very welcoming community, often much more mature... the kind of people who just want to enjoy the moment with homies.
