NDS Toughts on the Nintendo DS

GBA is better

But I do really like the games that actually use the two screens like the sonic games

Yeah, 2D games aged better (unless they used pre rendered 3D models, oops).

I don't mind if the screen is used for stats to give more breath to the main one.

t's not a matter of aging, I never liked the ds's 3d as a kid, just found it ugly and the textures they used were too desaturated, it didnt have the charm of the ps1; hard to put into words

Sure the inventory's neat, I just like it a lot when the two screams are used in tandem, it's just cool and unique

Simple thread, I want to hear what RGT has to say about the console. I'll be up front, I'm writing a article on the DS and I want to hear what the people think about the handheld, it will help me to write a more concise article.

The Nintendo DS is hands down the greatest console in history. Not only that it was Nintendo's most innovative times with their IPs, the same can be said for other companies, aswell.

It had a bunch of spinoff bangers that are better than any other spinoff on future Nintendo systems,

The Nintendo DS was used as a nice alternative to phones back in the 2000s with Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection,

Sprite artists that didnt grasp with the new polygons of the DS still cooked with their pixel art (I can name a thousand games that have wonderful art, even niche titles),

GBA compatible with the Phat DS and Lite which is the second best Nintendo console imho,

And the multiplayer games are incredible, and I wished to find ways to play others with them again if Netplay for DS exists.

Don't forget... They took inspirations in this:

It's practically undeniable that the DS has an excellent game library, but I'm going to use my critical side for this post. In my opinion the design of the console is not that good, I would prefer it to be a single screen console, like the PSP. Although it is cool to have a flippable screen, the quality is quite lacking. I've had two DSs in my life, the "classic" (I don't remember its name, but I assume it's the lite) and the XL. Both of them didn't have a very comfortable grip for me. Not like the PSP. But despite everything I said, it's still a great console with great games that I love to play even today. I still hope to be able to make an emulation of it that's ideal for my taste, solving my issue with the double screen, and having a good time playing stuff like Pokemon Black, Ace Attorney, Shin Megami Tensei, etc.

Nintendo's handheld systems and the Pokémon franchise are practically synonymous with one another. And the DS was a Pokémon fan's dream handheld. Generation 4 and 5 are commonly regarded as the peak of the series, at least nowadays.

The dual-slot functionality present in early DS models was also technically impressive, in my opinion; it was a unique solution to the differing dimensions of the two cartridge types, and served as a means for generational connectivity between GBA and DS titles. Few titles made use of the feature, but it's still a very interesting technology, allowing for things like rumble in select DS titles, or transferring Pokémon from generation 3 to generation 4.

Even though I had a GB and GBA growing up, I played more DS than both of them merely because I had more money to spend at that point. I finally had a job and some money to waste. Electroplankton was a favorite oddity of mine. I used to carry my DS around everywhere I went as a teen in my Atreyu man bag ?.

I loved the DS but it's also a sour spot in my gaming history. I had a DS Lite with a bad hinge and mine snapped. In aggravation rather than wait until I could another one or fix it, I just sold all my games for it. I regretted that down the line when I got a New 3DS XL and I didn't have those games anymore(not to mention how many of them jumped up in price)
