Thoughts on the new Gundam game?

I don't know where people are getting at with this being Canon, but its like all other Gundam content released besides Hathaway, its non-canon or a completely separate OC timeline.

Other than that, im hyped for anything new Gundam game related

Website says something along the lines of "A thrilling new chapter in the Gundam Saga" which might be where they're getting confused. Unless someone stated it was part of the central U.C. timeline, the only thing it's canon to is itself (similar to stuff like Gundam Seed or G-Gundam). And outside of 00, Gundams don't usually go around fighting aliens, because what the fuck else is that scorpion thing supposed to be?

I think this look fairly promising. If they're trying to appeal to westerners by making this Armoured Core/Mech Warrior grit it's working. Though, I kinda wished they kept a more predominant Gundam aesthetic, since if you squint your eyes this thing looks like any generic space armour.

If economy (and physical availability) allows it, I will definitely give it a change, unless they somehow screw it up.

Very little Gundam DNA that I can see, but god the gameplay looks hype so I'm still down to try it. Always nice to see them try something new when adapting a property to a new medium, so something this unique for Gundam is kind of welcome.

That looks AWESOME!!. This is the kind of Gundam game I've been waiting for!.

It's a fresh take, another game original story/timeline is welcomed since like AGE, this franchise needs more of that instead of more gacha/gunpla games that only recycle existing ideas around.
(I'm counting Gundam AGE as a game first, because all things from Level-5 start with the game, then comes the anime, not that it matters because the game is still stuck on 日本語 limbo and Gundam AGE is a weird anecdote by now, this is why another of these is good)

It does need more identity, feels a bit too half Armored Core wannabe and half chinese made mecha which leads to a slight generic feeling that doesn't fully feel like either Gundam or Armored Core.

Other than that I'm 100% in with this because that's the kind of game I care about.

This game might've been inspired by the recent manga Gundam Eight as it has a similar premise though it looks like a Muv-Luv ripoff what with the aliens reducing humanity to near-extinction.

Agreed that was the first thing i thought when watching the trailer. So many games these days really could use some more vivid colours applied to it. Daemon x Machina did a much better job there.

I also currently feel like it's just using brand recognition to boost sales. Nothing feels 'Gundam' here, in the slightest. Devil is in the details with how everyone is throwing Armored Core around when looking at this game which proves my point.

If you said this prior to AC6 coming out you'd be right, but thanks to From Software becoming a high profile studio over the past 15ish years and mecha's consistent rise in popularity worldwide, it sold about as much as the rest of the franchise combined. I've seen certain charts/figures that also reference the series selling more internationally that it does in Japan, but I can't find the data that they cite in said charts so I have no idea how valid any of it is.

Point being, I think AC6 being both a critical and commercial darling speaks volumes to how mecha has an audience if the game is excellent. Its an uphill battle for sure, but I don't think the genre is inherently doomed outside of Japan or anything.

Daemon x Machina not selling well can be chalked up to several factors. Nintendo's audience isn't the type to look at that kind of game on top of it not reviewing the best. The sequel not being marketed as aggressively as it could have been combined with not really feeling like a proper mech game certainly didn't help its chances. I know the trailers making it look like you're just in a powered up suit rather than a towering mech left me fairly disinterested. Then it released and even my fellow friends that also liked the first game didn't pick it up.

That's the exact problem with DxM 2, it just doesn't feel the same as controlling - and especially modifying - a huge mecha. I bought DxM 2 but I lost interest very soon, it should have all the good elements but the presentation is flawed. Areas are huge but dull for instance.

Speaking of this new GUNDAM game, it looks absolutely amazing. I'm a huge sucker for mecha games, and you bet I will try this out - if my PC is still up to the task then. I really like they try something new for a change, fast-paced battle is just what a good mecha game needs.

well my Thoughts is just let fromsoft make a Gundam game because seeing how the hate for New gundam breaker, Mobile suit gundam battle operation 2. Honestly most gundam games I seen has allot of hate or it´s just okey. I rarly see Gundam game that are super loved.

So honestly my Thoughts is that I hope it´s good and pleases the fans.

I think it looks really cool so far. I really love Daemon X Machina Titanic Scion and Armored Core VI, which this has strong vibes of.

Gundam has been around forever so a fresh side of it is welcome to me, just hope there’s a good dose of gundam political drama and not just blow up the alien monsters, though what am o saying I’d play that too lol
