I still have my old blue vita modded with a few games. I may have to mod it again since im going to purchase bigger memory. Freedom Wars, Wipeout 2048 AND Persona 4 Golden are my favorites.
I miss that era now.
Agreed...I feel like handhelds are too big nowadays and the Vita was the perfect size for one.

Played it, loved it, and consider it a great example of scope on a handheld.
I'm partial to the clean look of the all white.I'm getting my 3rd Vita soon and it'll be my first 2000 model! Torn on which of these colors to go with. I kind of like the tasteful contrast of the black sticks and screen outline on the 2nd one, but the all white is just so clean!
Any opinions?

You kind of have to laugh a bit at the idea of the Steam Deck being a "handheld". I think the Switch 1 was fine because it's thin and light, much like the 3ds models. It's not pocket friendly though or ergonomically friendly. The base Switch model was already quite big by itself.
The SteamDeck, Rog Ally and Switch 2 are going too far...

When someone I knew got a SteamDeck and I held it for the first time, the thought of it being a 'handheld' was confusing as, like you, I think of a Vita, or a 3ds as a handheld. Yes, the Steam Deck is a 'handheld' I guess in theory but holy heck I wouldn't be taking it around outside of a home because it really isn't pocket friendly and is a bit on the heavier side (at least for me).You kind of have to laugh a bit at the idea of the Steam Deck being a "handheld". Retroid Pocket 5s are a really good size for a handheld. Odin2 Portal is on the larger side of things but still not the huge thing that a Steam Deck is. With a good grip, the RP 5 and Odin2 Portal are super comfortable to hold. They can't be beat by any other handheld I've had.
It's not that much heavier than the PSP. The original Vita model is slightly lighter than the original PSP model and the slim Vita is only about an ounce heavier than the 2000 and 3000 PSP models. I tend to like my handhelds with a bit of heft to them though so that's my bias for sure. Definitely agree on the buttons being a bit too small though. I like how they feel in terms of texture and the act of pressing them, but if they were just the tiniest bit bigger it would help some games - particularly fighting games - feel just that much nicer.Personally I am not keen on vita's practical design at all.
It's much heavier then PSP, around 1/3 larger. But for some reason the buttons are placed much higher and are only half as big in size. start/select buttons are so small I have to use nails to press them. And as if it wasn't annoying enough, many games use back-pad as a tool for the missing r2/l2 bumpers.
It's as if the whole thing was designed with a skeleton in mind, with a very long but very thin fingertips. If I had to descibe it, then it's like holding a controller with missing hand grips.
I remember reading on youtube comments about a guy who played his steamdeck on a cafe and the waitress thought that he was controlling a drone from inside, which is pretty funny. When someone I knew got a SteamDeck and I held it for the first time, the thought of it being a 'handheld' was confusing as, like you, I think of a Vita, or a 3ds as a handheld. The RP5 is comfy to hold for me (no grip required) but I've heard many comment that a grip is a game-changer for them. That device is certainly a handheld and thankfully a lot lighter/pocketable. The Flip2 is nice as well but the hinge crack was/is a bit of a disappointment (thankfully Retroid replaced the cracked unit).
