I'd be curious if the second Mario movie will get a more complex story (I'm not asking any deep story, just something that goes beyond what the first has offered already).

I'm just a bit apprehensive about the syndrome of "sequel is actually a remake of the first plotwise" and how they could also use Galaxy more as nostalgia baiting (since it's probably the most popular game in the franchise next to Super Mario 64, Super Mario Bros 3 and Super Mario World).

The first trailer for the new Super Mario Galaxy Movie is up. With our first look of Rosalina and Bowser Jr.

Ok but I would be happy to see a Zelda movie.
As long as it´s animated I would be happy. But as we know the so called planned one is live action trash. If it´s not cancled.

Im loooking foward to this mario movie as the last animated one was rely good. And this one looks to be nice a well. And I do like Rosalina and I take her any day of peach beach.

I think they want to make a film with real people but that makes me skeptical. They might mess it up again, so an animated film would be better.

Mad Max Mario?!

On the other hand
I think they've revealed Rosalina too soon. Yes, I know she would come in but at least we should've gotten a glimpse in another trailer before release.

The first movie was enjoyable, capturing the essence of the original, but something still felt a bit off. I wish they had made a film where the characters looked like they do in the games, with the actual voice actors. The dialogue might be more limited, but I think it would work.

Ok but I would be happy to see a Zelda movie.
That would be sick. The same thing I mentioned above goes for Zelda. It would be a bold move, but it could definitely succeed. Perhaps both could be done as a short film, if necessary.

I hope they make it as an animation or something similar to the Mario movie.

Looks lovely, just like the first one.::peacemario

I also like The Neverending Story and The Black Cauldron.
I recently rewatched The Black Cauldron and unfortunately it does not age well. You can tell they were pressed for time making it and the ending feels VERY rushed, almost comically so. Its a shame creative projects have budgets and deadlines, as I often wonder how amazing media could be without those restrictions.

That said, I agree that an animated Zelda movie would allow for a better fictional world than any live action movie could do, yet that is not the case here and we are getting a live action Zelda movie. So I expect a very grounded movie with some fun set pieces that, ironically, will heavily rely on CG animated special effects.

The real test is going to be the writing. In between the fun set pieces, its the writing thats going to keep the moving from being boring. I worry that a lot of dialog will take place while Link and Zelda are traversing through Hyrule and I just don't know how intersting you can make that in a 90+minute film.

If we had something akin to The Neverending Story and The Dark Crystal, it could look so unique that it would really stand out from any modern movie this decade (so far). But that is a pipe dream and I simply see this movie heavily relying on blue screen backdrops and CG animated special effects. I hope to be wrong. We all will find out soon enough!

Oh, goodie. Two action chicks. What's the point of Mario & Luigi again?
Did you have the same reaction when you found out Samus was a woman? Or when Peach was a playable character in SMB 2?

I bet if James Cameron's ALIENS came out today with no changes, just released today, these same people would be hating on the movie simply because the star of that action movie is Ellen Ripley. They would spam memes of her being unattractive and all kinds of other shit.

Did you not see the new poster where they are at the Sand Kingdom wearing ponchos?
Yes. And.

Excuse me while I provide a decades' worth of electricity to New York City with the power of my eyerolls.

No, I did not have the same reaction. You know why? Ellen and Samus were the stars of their respective media, while Peach has had equal billing with the Mario Bros. (by and large - Super Princess Peach was about rescuing Mario and retrieving her vibra-err..."Vibe Wand").
Now, regarding the actual trailer, instead of other media entirely. What did we all see? Peach going parody-action Charlie's Angel against a vastly superior numerical force in a manner that even Kim Possible would groan at the absurdity of. Rosalina one-shotting a boss as though she were yawning. If these two are so powerful and such capable action-girls, then what even is the point of the Mario and Luigi being in their own movie?
Yes, I fully expect that if the respective scenes had gone on one second longer they would show the two being captured, blah-blah-blah. But that's not how it was portrayed in the trailer.

Why the fuck Nintendo doesn't just take off Super Mario World and All-Stars from their Switch Online service, and put the one that has Both, wouldn't it save more room?

It has updated sprites for Luigi for God's sake

Actually I think that All Stars + World has some glitches and personally I prefer having 8 save slots for both rather than being dependent on 4 for the whole package.

Furthermore Luigi is barely relevant for that game and I'd rather have Mario Advance with World and 3 over that.

Yeah well aside from you I wonder how many people would agree and would rather save some additional space for other ROMs, also what about it was glitchy? I've heard it before about that cart but never had any problem with it myself, also you'd be surprised how many Luigi appreciators would rather have the new updated sprites over a Mario re-palette.

lol fair enough. I can see the desire to have Peach portrayed in her traditional role as the damsel in distress if you were expecting the movie to stay faithful to the original concepts of the game, but Nintendo has been slowly moving her away from that trope in an obvious attempt to cater to more female buyers, I mean fans ;)

That said, is it really that big of a deal that the character is evolving to a more prominent role? What exactly is the issue of these characters being more resourceful and demonstrating that?

As for the trailer being female character focused, I'm sure they have plenty of data that shows the well established and overall positive view of Mario as a character in general, but they may see data that shows the average audience don't know much about Peach other than she is the character Mario always saves. Its very likely younger female audiences, who have already been exposed to more stronger female characters over the last decade, may not be as interested in Peach if she was portrayed in the traditional damsel in distress. This is all speculation of course, but its clear that the trailer is focused on capturing more female audience attention.

Posing questions like "well why even have the Mario Bros if she is so powerful?" is rather silly when looking at the movie as a whole. Its a fictional world, why not? They don't have to explain anything in such granularity because its never meant to be taken that way.
