Done Spoiler Tags for Risqué Images

What do you think of adding spoiler tags to generally NSFW content?

There has been a gradually growing number of generally NSFW images that have been posted on profile walls and elsewhere in the last few months, and it was recently suggested by a number of Users that lewd or sexually explicit art and imagery be covered by spoiler tags to hide this type of content from Users who do not wish to see it.

RGT has a wide age demographic, and some of these images aren't suitable for younger audiences, and many other Users simply do not wish to see this kind of content when browsing the forums or recommending the site to others.

We have tried to be more relaxed about Rule #7. The general rule of thumb being "if you'd see it down at the beach, then it's fine". But of course, people will still try to push the envelope as to what they can get away with.
On the other hand, these images are often impressive displays or artistry and creativity, and they have their audience.

What are your feelings on the idea?

If I’m may, add an idea to the mix.
If you're going to have an NSFW area, maybe it should be by invite only, since we have underage users here. It probably needs some form of age validation...

Password-protected, +18, with certain longevity/level restrictions and no guarantee of entry even if requirements are fulfilled (mod discretion).

A forum I hang out in has a "Crack Whores" section that works exactly on those rules... And works very well indeed.

I honestly don't believe Spike gave the okay for this. Against this kind of thing in the past, as he has been, I don't think it'll last very long, as it will eventually end up being a porn thread.

At the same time, though, this was posted as a SUGGESTION that just so happens to have been made by a member of the staff team — that's quite a different beast from blatant overstepping.

I was never implying that it was made without spikes say so.

Again, it’s just the way I worded it, that’s all. Doing something like this without spikes say so, would be a fast track to getting kicked off the mod team, first and foremost. Again, it just amazes me that he gave it the okay, that's all.

He's been a hypocrite since day one, honestly its nothing special. Notice how he criticize something if the mass agrees and then when it does happen he jumps in cause everyone else is doing it? There is a term for it, but my mind is slipping

This whole subject’s kinda really important to me, so I sorta want to weigh in.

I know the thread’s already been made, so really this is just for posterity. That thread has already devolved into an adorable shitpost and it’s beautiful in its own way.



I work in translation. Unfortunately, since my works contain some nudity, the whole “NONNA THIS 18PLUS CRAP IN MY HOUSE” is always lurking on my shoulder. Even some of the conversations I’ve had on this site make me a little nervous as to whether or not I’ve warranted being banned off the face of the forum (which, again, I’m so grateful that the mods here seem willing to talk things out and permanent bans aren’t actually a thing, so, thanks.)



I’ve been banned off of Facebook for less than what has been posted in the risque art thread. It got to the point where I’m always worried that any time I make an off the cuff lewd remark even without visual representation that I’m going to get punted. As a result, up until I more or less gave up bothering to reach out to other people, I was spending some time in the darkest corners of the internet. It’s not a good place to be – not necessarily because there is a lot of extreme content, but also because the people there have incredibly violent opinions. I don’t really want to elucidate on this, I’ll leave that to your imagination. It doesn’t take long for someone who is already a walking tickbox of minority characteristics to start feeling even more subhuman than she’s already forced to. It seems I might be a little too soft for one side of the world, and too vile for another side of the world. (well, people have lots of different opinions, and there's room for nuance, but it's a little easier in this case to chop it into two distinct camps for me, yeah.)


So to sum up simply, while the new thread isn’t necessarily a place that I’d expect to be able to talk about much of anything, I definetely wanted to say thank you to everyone here for taking another step to helping an idiot like me feel at least a touch more human. Maybe not the thread for a vent but it’s out there, so thank you for coming to my stray rant.

Damn i feel bad for you, i've also worked on few 18+ translation project so i know how it feels like somone can just came and judge me.

I don't care if someone is a "gooner" if they're kind and thoughtful, really. I mean look at my gosh darn writing style, it's a wall. If people can engage me on s ome level like this, then I like them. I'm a simple human.

I've met a few incredibly kind, thoughtful gentlemen in very strange places. Had a guy who's never played a game take my project in its untranslated Japanese since he's native for a spin. Getting to hear all about his adventures since it's a slice of life romance RPG was hilarious. Like, a guy who managed to not say anything weird or creepy even in the circumstances was...well a new experience. Not like I'd have held it against him in that case even if he did but whatever. XD.

To be clear - all of my current projects feature NSFW elements, but everything is handled in an incredibly thoughtful way, even when things might be a little silly. I don't feel uncomfortable actually sharing my work among my family, and my wife's actually translating one of my projects into Italian as well. She's far less okay with this stuff than I am, she gets uncomfortable easy, and yet there was something out there that suited her tastes perfectly.

What I'm trying to say is that there IS stuff out there that people shouldn't necessarily have to be afraid of sharing or feel ashamed of. (Again, I guess we're gonna need to put a whole bucket of nuance on this because there are always limits to all things, but hey.)

I generally would be in favor of NSFW images but not outright pornographic content,as long as it is flagged as a spoiler and stated as Nsfw for people who wanna Ignore that they can ignore it.

I get why people want NSFW images but I also believe we should not force it down peoples throats who don't like it.

And of course there is also always the danger of the slippery slope.
