I genuinely wish Sega, Sega of all the major companies, would stop printing things with Limited Run. Multibillion dollar company can't even figure out how to print their own games anymore 🙄
Yep, I used to be glad to see LRG versions of indie games that never saw any physical release until I saw what those actually were...

I’ll be sticking to the original Generations, thank you.
And they've delisted it on Steam...

I got a code for the game for free and I already got some Sonic toys so I was never buy this.

250 dollars? How much was that giant Sonic toy in the Sonic Mania special edition again?

I wish Limited Run a wonderful bankrupt
Here's a close second.

I stopped buying from these guys years ago. I always did get my games on time, but I already heard about the horror stories between 2021-2024. The only exception was when I did pre order Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered for PS5. It was nothing more than a means to an end. I actually did get my game on time. The day after it released digitally.

That was 70 USD when it was dropped and that looked better than any of the limited run games statues of Sonic and Shadow.

Honestly these sorts of things are exactly why I've never gone in for any of these over-blown special editions in the first place.

I can't remember a single friend who was actually still pleased with their purchase of them 1 year down the line. In most cases, they just tended to sell the figurine anyway to buy more games instead.

Either way, this isn't a shock. Why would they bother putting in loads of effort when people will by the stuff anyway?

Embarrassing. LRG is a mess. I don't buy many of these CE's and LE's that come with a bunch of tchotchkes. The games themselves take up too much space as is.

I'll probably redo Sonic 1 Forever, Sonic 2 Absolute and perhaps Sonic 3D in 2D this year.

I need to check if there are new romhacks for Sonic on the Genesis but it seems that fangames have become the new way of making fanmade content since roms have technical limits.

I need to check SAGE stuff yet I'm a bit less fan of unfinished tech demos and non-Sonic games.

Don't think I posted on this thread before, so I'll say...
Anyone like Sonic Rush Adventure? I feel this game is overlooked immensely and I do overall prefer it over the original, ngl.

I think that there are several reasons:

Not hearing Naganuma's iconic OST made people like the ambience less.
The fact it came after Sonic 2006 and Sonic and the Secret Ring made people less inclined to buy a new Sonic game
Zelda Phantom Hourglass made it seem like it tried to rip off Zelda (although both are just sea themed game but are absolutely not the same).
Robotnik isn't the main antagonist of the game but that weird robot that looks like him.

But I wish they kept the Sol Dimension as such and never made that whole "Blaze's World is actually the future" twist the Sonic Team did... Too bad we'll probably never go there ever again pretty much like why we'll never go back on Little Planet nor Planet Wisp...

Wow... LRG bad again at it.

I would say I want them to just bankrupt at this point, but if it weren't for them most of the physical games we have these days wouldnt exists. It would be the perfect excuse to force everyone to move to digital licenses.

Noseless derpy Shadow seems kind of funny.

Glad to know Im not the only one that notice it. Yeah he looks funny lol

I ordered the Sonic Adventure poster from LRG before I knew about their reputation for taking multiple ice ages to deliver merch. Anyway, 9 months later I got it in the mail.

Their software team did a pretty incredible job on the Bubsy collection last year. That really had a lot of love poured into it for something that had zero expectations placed upon it by the internet at large. But the physical games / merch side of their business clearly operates out of some dude's garage, and he's always too high to actually work.

Is this a good time to say I fucking love Sonic 1? I had it on Genesis (and later Mega Collection) but I always played 2 and 3 more. I hadn't played it much for a while at the time, but in early 2021 the decomps of the mobile remakes came out and it got me seriously playing the first two games again. Sonic 2 will always be my favorite of the 2D games but I feel like I gained a new appreciation for Sonic 1 and it's only gotten stronger. I actively prefer to play the original Genesis release these days because I feel like "fixing" things like the ground speed cap to match the other games just lessens the uniqueness of Sonic 1. Much like the Adventure games, Sonic 1 encourages you to use rolling by significantly raising your speed cap over your running speed. I like to spend as much time rolling in these games as possible so, as you can imagine, this appeals to me.

I don't even mind Labyrinth Zone that much. I don't think I'd choose to play it by itself but it doesn't piss me off.

Speaking of things the remake "fixes", kids these days will never know the horrors of Sonic 1 spikes.

It's a cool trailer but 0 adventure era gameplay moments? I'm not asking something obscure like 8-bits Sonic nor Segasonic the Hedgehog Arcade game but come on, it's also a part of history.

I'm not talking about Sonic X nor the Sonic Generations display of City Escape but the actual levels from Sonic Adventure 1&2 (and Heroes).

That's a debate about "improving genuine flaws vs respecting fidelity".

Sonic 1 Forever and Sonic 2 Absolute have options to fix or not those thankfully. I'm always for remasters that have customisations like that.

Sonic 1 is an oddball of the series thanks to the early instalment weirdness yet I feel like retroactively putting stuff like spindashes and Super Sonic can be nice to have a fresh experience of the game.

Sonic was made with pinball in mind so this explains that idea. I'd still say that the spin dash was a game changer for the series.

However the instant boost button for Rush and Unleashed onwards was not the best idea since this would trivialise platforming and battling enemies (who are nowadays more like homing attack obstacle than proper foes). Rush and Rush Adventure at least had the air trick system to make it more interesting and you still have to manage the boost meter by keeping those tricks or else you'd lose it entirely.

I don't even mind Labyrinth Zone that much. I don't think I'd choose to play it by itself but it doesn't piss me off.
Labyrinth on the Genesis was laggy so that's its issue.

Speaking of things the remake "fixes", kids these days will never know the horrors of Sonic 1 spikes.
I remember when there was a big debate about it being the intended way of punishing the player or if it was a genuine glitch.

Been a while since I posted in the Sonic thread, but I have to share… the Saturn era of Sonic music is wonderful, unique, and emphasized what Sonic CD started: Sonic music can be any genre, any vibe, and it will always be Sonic. And it will always be amazing.

Saturn Sonic as a whole is sadly forgotten (if not straight up being ignored) by Sega.

When they show anything remotely related to Classic Sonic they mostly reference the Genesis games, the 8-bits and 32-bits ones are having a few mentions.
