That doesn't explain why the colours in Frontiers are dull though.maybe they dumbed it down a bit to match weaker hardware
I don't believe that colour saturation is directly linked to a hardware's power. It's literally a hue slider.maybe they dumbed it down a bit to match weaker hardware
The Wii was much weaker yet Colors looked much brighter too. That doesn't explain why the colours in Frontiers are dull though.
it's sega. they rush everything and half ass it as well. and nowadays, game companies listen to the people who either don't play games or complain that something is too "child-like" aka, it's bright and colorful.I don't believe that colour saturation is directly linked to a hardware's power. Early GBA games being overly bright was meant to compensate for the lack of a backlight but that's it.
Frontiers was meant to have 3 islands until they changed it to 5.

Sega should really, really take notes on Nintendo for the games. Yes people sometimes waited many years for a new entry but they often deliver well. It's Sega. they rush everything and half ass it as well. and nowadays, game companies listen to the people who either don't play games or complain that something is too "child-like" aka, it's bright and colorful.
People complained about Green Hills and colorful levels in the Meta era but at least even Forces had some colours (well, still less than Generations).bland ass colors are easier to pick and slap onto a texture for a character or environment. and since those colors are "realistic" it is appeasing the people who are screaming and yelling because they have nothing going on in their lives and want everything bland and boring.
Aren't both those franchises dead at the moment?
That Golden Axe game worries me because it almost feels like a Unity project by a fan...
looks better than the last time they went 3d. This one actually lets you play as more than one character, it looks fun. That Golden Axe game worries me because it almost feels like a Unity project by a fan...
I forgot they had 3D before.looks better than the last time they went 3d. This one actually lets you play as more than one character, it looks fun.
no, let's derail this and talk about kirby's pinball land for the game boy.I forgot they had 3D before.
But let's go back to Sonic.
Yeah the Golden Axe game does look pretty lame. That Golden Axe game worries me because it almost feels like a Unity project by a fan...
I'd even dare saying that Golden Axe, like Altered Beast, works much better in 2D.Yeah the Golden Axe game does look pretty lame.

I agree. More fan games should have a unique style. Having a unique style really makes a fan game stand out.Maybe I'd sound like I'm complaining but I wish 2D fangames could not always try to replicate Mania's style and overuse that same falling sprite from CD.
Sonic Storm had a really unique feel compared to the rest.I agree. More fan games should have a unique style. Having a unique style really makes a fan game stand out.
I find Sonic to be a bit too bright that's my only comment.I like the Chaotix inspired Knuckles sprite in Mania.
