RGT Nostalgia Society #1 - Parasite Eve

I am on Disc 2 now, at the museum. This one is a bit tricky but I got mostly through it. Looking forward to the boss fight. My strategy so far has been upgrading a handgun, using Haste as quick as possible and get as close for criticals

I like the music a lot.

Mmm. If you kept your club, you can steal ammo from bats by clubbing them repeatedly. Because science.

Other than that you may need to dodge and use the energy bullet spell.
I got lucky, one of the segments of the boss gave me some more bullets when I hit it with the club. I also did end up using the energy shot to try an conserve ammo. The machine gun sure does good DPS, but man does it eat through bullets. I'll try and save it for big enemies and maybe start using the grenade launcher more.

oh and question, what's going on with the Warehouse? First time the game branched out. I put a save right before I entered the sewers just in case.

GG. I dont know about the warehouse, didnt remember if I went there in my first playthrough but I guess it's about unlocking the Chrysler "hard dungeon".

What the hell are you guys doing without me? Parasitic behavior from these eves man....

I played it last month good game with few issues being too forgiving on bullet count , lackluster monsters that don't really look scary besides the bear in PE1 and sheeva uhm.

I made a "mini" review going through the game posted it here somewhere...

A good meme about this game would be "square trying not to turn every game they make into an RPG" like they really made a survival horror into an RPG good job square!

And aya walk so damn slowly.

Nice! I still got mine starting day 2, so I'll hold onto it. Is it worth it to boost/upgrade the club? I haven't used it...

you'll find better clubs later on. Only clubs 2 and 3 have the property of stealing items from enemies. That's it's real value.

I was wrong apparently the Warehouse is not directly related to the Chrysler building. It's a side quest with
medium/hard monsters, a nice armor at the beginning and a big weapon at the end.

I dont think so. Some bosses and monster move too fast.

Some see the glass half empty. Others see the glass half full. And then there's Parasite Eve...

Thats why you never store sperm so you don't end up having your sperms used to power up some abhorrent abomination

There was a club? Wha-

I haven't used it during my entire playthrough you are given so much ammo going melee exposes your ass to nasty hits from certain enemies.

You are probably aware of this but in case you don't everytime you go into the police station check the weapons department there is new ammo in the box keep collecting it gives you a nice boost of confidence too.

I personally invested a ton in active time aka agility cuz i didnt know you can invest bonus points into weapons even then being able to respond very fast is a huge plus.

That makes sense, I'll go with that.

Also, wtf? You need this item to mod stuff, but they let you discard it O_o Also why does this item exist in the first place? To piss me off that I need it in my inventory? What were they thinking!?!

Mod permits / trading cards don't matter. If you really need to add more slots on weapons, there's a way to farm trading cards. First time you visit the hospital, after getting the power back in the basement, try to get as much inventory space as you can and find the infinite trading cards spot.

OH! Ok, I see, so it is meant to be an expendable. I thought it was an item you needed in order to just talk to the guy for the service and was unique. Yea, chief gave me another one. Now I feel dumb ::sadkirby But that's not unusual >_<

okay, got to start playing this now.

They made the streets of New York look SO much like Deling City.

I always had it in the back of my head that this was kind of a horror jrpg, and yeah, it super does feel like one. Not because like, there's rat monsters, but because of how quickly everything becomes a nightmare, and like, you're not exactly sure what's real or not at first. Because Aya seems rather stoic and just accepts what is happening without argument, and because, y'know, the game starts out at an Opera. A play. Where fiction is acted out. I actually thought the people catching on fire was some advanced theater sfx at first.

Also, just like a horror game, there's a lot of doors and I CAN NOT figure out where to go. Spent like 20 minutes chasing my tail. Turns out that I don't know how to read (a diary.) game has some very, very sensitive triggers for when you're actually 'activating' something.

Story so far feels like peak "Dude, we heard about these things and they are COOL." I remember stories of spontaneous combustion being so talked up around this time period. I was even pretty interested in them. "And what about... NUCLEIC MEMORY." Game's tone did take a slight hit upon the mitochondria mention though ahahahhahaha. it's like, the one hiccupy 'cell' word they could have chosen. maybe only would have that effect in america.

Aya seems kewl so far.
I'm assuming the little girl isss... young Aya?
Melissa seems like she's having her personality overridden by some evil... cell... hivemind... or something. Not sure. I guess the medicine she was taking was meant to manage that? Will find out later!
I like the guy that picks up Aya at the end of Day 1. I like that whole conversation. Dreamlike tone continues, cause god damn Aya's tone and reaction are super muted considering what just happened.

Feeling dumb trying to comprehend weird nonsensical game systems is an integral part of the jRPG experience for me. But then again, I'm the kind of guy who likes point and clicks.

Ain't she a beauty? Acts twice in a turn, always go first and hit all targets in range ::eggmanlaugh View attachment 79529
Feels amazing once you get the MP5PDW. Loved using it until I got the P90. I just wish there was an auto-target toggle. I had to set a macro to spam X on one of the back buttons on my Steam Deck because the RSI in my right hand was acting up from hitting X so much.

Unfortunately, the Warehouse is a really useless place except to farm ammo and get the stuff obsolete mentioned up above. Farming health items is best done in the museum, floor two, north of the doctor's room. Go up the stairs once you come in the museum. Go north a screen. Go north again, you'll be on a balcony that goes to the left. Go between this screen and the next one over and over. Get some cheeky medicines from pterodactyls.

You are probably aware of this but in case you don't everytime you go into the police station check the weapons department there is new ammo in the box keep collecting it gives you a nice boost of confidence too.
This is true! But after opening the chest 10 times, it'll stay open and no longer refills when going back to the map. Same for the medicine chest in the corner.

Nice! Whenever I next play through the game (probably Christmas or maybe next Christmas) I'll make sure to play through with a pistol.

I've played this game almost once a year since it came out, and I never knew about this! What?!

Also didn't know this was a thing. I need to keep my eyes peeled for next month. Anyone shoot me a reminder? Lol

Yesterday I watched the japanese movie based on the book that the game is a continuation. Apparently they changed the ending cuz the budget wasn't enough

We got the "Love conquers all" ending again. The movie is ruined... XD. I need an abstract of the book now.

Mmm. Using the redump 2 CD version in English from the Repo. Maybe it's a glitch. There's no "chest opening" sound and you can only farm like that while not leaving the hospital. But it worked in my second EX round too, and I was in hardcore mode on Duckstation so it's not a cheat, pinky swear.

Here's a pic of some mitochondria tagged with a green fluorescent protein... Nasty little shits are already around the blue nucleus ready to jump in it seems. I can hear them cackling from here.

I must be doing something wrong, ran out of ammo in central park and had to start clubbing snakes to death to leave ::sadkirby

You need 300 for an OP weapon which is an insane grind on the first playthrough without fast forward on an emulator IMO. But they carry over in your save file for the EX game rounds so every bit help. And you can only unlock the weapon on day 4 but the game will never tell you how much you already gave to the weapon guy. Demon explained an efficient way to farm the junk on Day 3. I dont think it's worth it but I did it anyway today, if you want to skip the grind I can upload my ducksation save file.

Yea, fuck that, I'll just give wayne the junk to get rid of it, just wanted to know if there was another use.

Okay, gonna go back out there with the rifle I guess. I thought the handgun was pretty good, but I'm burning through bullets ::sadkirby I guess you want most damage per bullet?
