Remakes\Enhanced Ports you'd actually want

Gun.Smoke. How Capcom initially funded Red Dead Revolver, then handed it over to Rockstar at some point, watched Red Dead become huge (which didn't happen until Redemption, mind you) and never once went, "man, we got another cowboy game too, what if we did something with that" still blows my mind.

I also want a rerelease of the first PSO, I don't even need the visuals updated or anything. I would probably prefer if they weren't. All I ask for is right stick camera control.

Homeworld Cataclysm deserves the remaster treatment the other games had, its such a shame that the source code was lost and Gearbox doesn't want to recreate it, hell it took ages to get Gearbox to accept Cataclysm as canon.

A decent remake of Before Crisis, the lost FFVII mobile game that never got an English release, would be cool. There's a fan remake but it was made by one amateur guy in rpgmaker and it shows, the battles especially look a lot worse than in the original. This is pre-gacha games and all this trash.

Xenogears and Xenosaga I~III and also golden sun would be cool
Xenogears +1000!!

Also, Chrono Cross could use a beautiful, but *faithful* remake.
Dino Crisis, Parasite Eve...

Final Fantasy V and VI could really use nice remakes too. I'd be happy with something like the FFIII remake for the PSP, nothing too fancy ::eggmanlaugh

The first Mother, the Begginings (Rimshot) of the saga deserves to be refreshed and modernized, i know about Encore, but knowing Them, i am waiting for the cancellation news T-T

It would have to be an unfinished game or a game that was severely limited by technical issues or bugs for me to get behind a remake project. Someone mentioned Xenogears, that sounds like a perfect project for a remake if they can complete disk 2 in their full vision.

The problem with remakes is that the experience is ultimately changed in ways that make it fundamentally different. At that point, it isn't reflective of the original game, so what's the point of retreading an old story that's slightly altered and edited for modern sensibilities?

This is gonna get playfully off-topic, but I'd kinda argue that Disc 2 is already basically complete? Experiencing the story in a more decompressed form would be better than just having a narrator tell us what happened, of course, but I think less would be more here. Part of the reason the game feels unfinished is because people new to managing a project couldn't edit Xenogears down to what mattered. I'm not saying I know exactly what that should be, but I'm tempted to say all of the bits and pieces of different time periods should have just been hints and veiled references.

(Short version, I'd cut Esmeralda and that entire subplot, and shorten up Grahf and Krelians backstories a ton. Also, maybe just fucking lose Grahf entirely. I think ID already serves a lot of the same function in the story, and Grahf feels like a hat on a hat in terms of Fei's many, many secret origins. Like ohmygod this man has too many secret origins, he's like Wolverine).

the first PE is getting a remake, was announced not that long ago, but I do hope we get part 2 as well. Part 3 I can live without
Speaking of games that got a remake for the first game but not the second, Pac Man World 2 and Croc 2 needs remakes honestly probably more then the first games. But the removal of the tank controls for Croc 1 was a W.

Those are all fair points and that brings me to another reason why I think remakes suck. The people who remake these games sometimes are disconnected to the original vision and get far too precious about them. I'm sure if modern day Square Enix tried to remake Xenogears, they'd just leave every superfluous scene and expand it to twice the length while also missing the overall thematic point of the story. I'm sure they would also leave all the annoying platforming sections because they have to be authentic to the original.

While I'm usually biased against the idea of remakes, I tend to prefer them when they play it straight, instead of adding all kinds of crazy additions.
Honestly I usually play the original games on the original hardware via a real machine or emulation. But i always like the options of remakes.

Okay but if the Tower of Babel section becomes "lol we have flying robots" and you just skip all that shit, I'll pay $80 right now.

I would think xenogears for definite, fully completed and given the FF7 rebirth treatment. For xenosaga 2 that would need to be completely overhauled, xenosaga 1 could be retooled and reskinned and three just a graphical overhaul.

I think megaman X7 and X8 definitely need a re do, they suck

Primal was such a beautiful game (to me, at least). A great game from Studio Cambridge.
I think it also was quite underestimated, back in 2003.
It would deserve a remake (or maybe a good sequel)... 🤩

Too bad FF7R barely followed the original intent of the game...
