Speaking of Digimon World 3, I'd like a remake of Digimon World 2 that replaces the traditional JRPG battles with a fast-paced dungeon-crawling roguelike system in the vein of Chunsoft's Mystery Dungeon series. DW2 is already structured like a turn-based dungeon-crawler, where every action is determined by the progression of tiles that you move across, but for some ungodly reason, random battles send you to the Final Fantasy dimension where you have to play out the most bog-standard JRPG fights imaginable. Just take all that shit out and let me battle on the overworld, darn you...! ?
Digimon World 1 and 3 are great games with cult fanbases, but 2 only gets a cursory mention as a game that people briefly played using their emulator's fast-forward function. I have a conspiracy theory that the only reason 2 has standard JRPG encounters is to reuse the polygonal Digimon models from 1, which were reused again in 3 and Digital Card Battle. Bandai, those devils, must have had some deal where they could just keep plugging in those same stupid models again and again into out-of-the-box game mechanics, and it hurts DW2 most of all.
Digimon are made for the Mystery Dungeon format, even moreso than Pokemon... and they could have had it first!
