Pixel Trivia!

Stronghold?
No. Seeing as this is the third wrong guess here's a hint. It's a Settlers clone. The only units you control directly are your soldiers. Peasants and builders are basically AI-controlled but you can influence them indirectly.

I've got it!

Medieval Fantasy RTS #473!
Well yes but actually no. It got a GOG rerelease and a fan remake so I was sure it's popular enough not to stump everyone.

I see a yes there...!

But seriously, that's actually a pretty big hint. Is it that Knights and Merchants thing I see on there?

Keep walkin’ pal, you didn’t see nuttn’!

It looks like it's been over a day, anyone want to jump in with a new puzzle?
I have to go to bed, but I’ll post this.
Hopefully not too easy and you’ll be on it till I wake up!

Well yeah we'll be on it still, it's a blurry closeup of a seagull!

...an N64 game, maybe? Pilotwings?

Doesn't look like much of anything to me so yeah, I'll leave it to others.

Wave Race 64........................................................................................................................?
I am now awake, and Gorse is the winner!

(Sorry for the blur, it was a small image)

Yeeeeeah, baby! I had N64 in my head because of what ATenderLad posted, and I have a photographic knowledge of all seagulls in video games, so there wasn't much room for error. GORSE RULES

Next up...

I'm going to need the full name of this game, formatted exactly as it is on the cover, for your answer to count. Aside from the helpful message I've added, the image above has not been edited in any way. It's a commercially-released game for console, PC, handheld, mobile, and/or arcade, yadda yadda. Hint at 24 hours, answer at 48.

I have quite literally never even heard of this game referred to by anyone on the internet before, but I completed it with the best ending in late 2021. GOOD LUCK !!

Only one reply!? I'll take that as proof I chose a strong game, and not because everyone hates me. If this gets solved again by another user who's obviously cheating, my little head will pop like a grape.

HINT TIME:
  • It is indeed a rhythm game.
  • It was released after the year 2000, and before the year 2007.
  • It's a game that came out on a home console and/or a handheld, not a port of anything from an arcade.
  • It's a game specifically based on a certain subculture that was popular around the turn of the millennium.
  • The game was released officially in all major territories: Japan, America, and the EU.
I can't give any hints beyond that without giving away the game. Keep at it, soldiers! ::winkfelix

The art style feels really familiar but I’m wracking my brain here… Getting gal/gyaru vibes from the girl, but I doubt that’s the subculture in question if it was released worldwide.

@Gorse (tagging only because my post will auto merge and it doesn’t always send notifications then)

The answer is ’Superstar Dance Club #1 Hits!!!’

Holy shit you were right, finding information on this was really hard. It probably doesn’t help that the western box art looks super ugly and the ultra generic name, which makes you shrug it off, because the style in the actual game is awesome.

Great clues, by the way. They were perfect and cryptic enough for moivating some actual digging.
Was I correct in guessing the subculture? Or were you looking for nightclubs or para para (which I think is a gyaru adjacent thing) in general?

Sorry for double posting, I just want to wait with an image until my answer is validated, since Gorse wanted the exact title on the box, which I think I provided but I’m not 100% sure since it’s so generic (and likely different in Japan?).
