THAT'S RIGHT!!!
Superstar Dance Club #1 Hits!!! (known in Japan as LovePara) was a budget rhythm game released during the waning days of the PS1 that, inexplicably, got a full-scale translation across all major markets. Tonberry, you're not far off – the subculture I was referring to was para-para, though it's so closely interlinked with turn-of-the-millennium Japanese culture that saying gyaru was essentially correct. (It's from the same genus of stuff as Tokyo gothic lolita street fashion and Super Milk-Chan, I guess – totally a favourite period in Japan's pop-cultural history for me!) This is the only non-arcade para-para game I can think of, but I'd love to see a lot more.

Despite being marketed towards ten-year-old girls, the game is fucking TOUGH! It is not an easy game whatsoever – it's kind of like a mix of DDR and Parappa the Rapper, but you need to be dead-on precise to get anywhere in it, and progressing in the game requires a lot of replying old stages to earn in-game currency. I consider myself quite strong at rhythm games, but the timing in SDC#1!!! requires a lot of getting used to. It's got some really excellent character art and catchy music, though! And it's completely unknown on the western internet – no Wikipedia page or anything, just some scattered GameFAQs guides and a TCRF page.

If the game used the protagonist, Suzy, more in its promotional materials, there's no doubt in my mind it would be quite popular on today's 'net, because people are shallow morons who'll give anything a chance as long as it's got a buggering anime girl attached to it. I just think everyone's scared off by the cover and have never actually seen any gameplay. I first discovered the game on CD Romance years and years ago, and had a fun time playing it through. If you're interested in the game, no need to fire up Mednafen – it's literally on Steam. I wonder if the game will ever get a big boost of popularity with the kids, like everything obscure I like does. OH WELL

My apologies for making you wait, everyone. @Tonberry – YER UP!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alright, sports fans. Here's my next submission!
If I remember correctly, this game had varying titles in different countries, and naturally, if it's a series I want the specific number (If it has one!).

i am farting as you read this.jpg

The only elements covered up are the character and some stats.

It’s definitely some form of European PC platformer… if it’s not Zool, then maybe one of the Oscar games? Or a James Pond sequel?

You shouldn’t trust XenForo with your private parts.

Socket? Pretty sure that's wrong but the other guesses put me in the Sega Genesis mindset.
That is also incorrect!
There goes three guesses already. Do you guys want to mull it over some more or would you like clues?

Just to be clear: It is an officially-, commercially-released game, right? That's really all the hint I need.
It is indeed. I played it a lot as a kid.

It's been a while, so I think I'll drop some clues:
  • It's a game of the "European PC game" variety.
  • It's part of a series of games, some of which are in different genres.
  • The entire series can nowadays be officially downloaded as freeware, but back in the day you had to buy it (I actually didn't know of this until today).
  • It has a built-in level editor.

Ugh, I've seen this before. The main character is a walking yellow blob iirc. It was called blooby or bloopy or something to that effect. You sure chose a moment to dislodge a forgotten memory of mine.

This is so insanely close that I feel that I have to count it as correct because you're right on the money phonetically, you just kind of anglo-ified the word.

The right answer is BLUPI! I feel like I have to give you the credit because Blupi is just Bloopy in French.
Where I'm from, it's known as Eggbert, or specifically Speedy Eggbert. My screenshot is from Speedy Eggbert 2, but when I dug a bit I noticed that the graphics/assets are identical, so my rule about which numbered title it is doesn't apply since they're pretty much indistinguishable.

I remember spending an entire summer playing this with a friend, making dumbass levels for each other to beat.

Interestingly, it seems to still have some sort of online community, as there are tons of speedruns and custom level showcases and the like when you search for it.

Turns out that searching for "slime blobs volley ball" was quite effective! Turns out yours isn't alone in the "category" :ROFLMAO:

So, my turn:

View attachment 43016

Probably quite easy, but we'll see. Nothing covered, just cropped.
I recognize those soldiers SO much, but I’m drawing a total blank.

Looks like a very mid-2000s Diablo clone but I can't place it. None of the games I can think of match the aesthetic of this screenshot. Granted, a lot of those games blend together and are barely distinguishable by their UI, which you cropped. How could you.

medisinn's call that this might be an MMO is an extremely good shout*, because that cropped map thing or whatever it is in the corner looks mid-2000s online game city. I thought this might have been some kind of fantasy dungeon crawler until I saw the high-tech soldiers... It's not some kind of Avengers or other superhero game, is it? That guy looks like he could be EAGLE-MAN or something.

*Though I hate to say it, but it's definitely not City of Heroes – that game was played from a different camera viewpoint. 🤫

Hmmm...no clue, as per usual. Time for a shot in the dark...City of Heroes?
Nope, but heroes are involved! ::biggrin

Looks like a very mid-2000s
It's from 2006, actually! This is the PSP version, but there are others.

It's not an MMO, but it *is* a superhero game!

I KNEW IT!!!!!! If only I had a better knowledge of superhero properties, I'm sure I could identify that character. The game isn't one of those Spiderman movie tie-in beat 'em 'ups, is it?

WAIT! Is it a Batman Brave and the Bold game!?
