The file size is due to the music files on mp3. The actual game is 8MB. To play this on retroarch you have to use the core included, a modified genesis plus core, else the game will play a fake low res "mockup". So go to your retroarch cores folder, backup and delete your genesis_plus_gx_libretro.dll and replace it with the one included with the game. After that just load content and find the game .bin.

Download from Repo

Hi everyone, has anyone managed to get the game to run on a Miyoo Mini or PSVita? I have the Linux and R35S cores but neither works

Is there any way this can be played on RetroArch for Mac?
Yes. I saw a MacOS version of the core as part of one of the many IA download packs. Don't have a Mac so I haven't tried it myself though.

I tried but failed because I think I did it wrong. But I tried to change the name of the core and my problem was that retroarch would not recommend the core when attempting to start the game. So I deleted my regular core and changed the name back replacing the normal core and it works perfectly.
You need to also duplicate the GenPlusGX info file too and rename the copy to match the new core name you used. The info files tell Retroarch what ROMs the core can load, among many other things.

Tried the new android core. Whenever I try to start it with the mp3 files included, the game freezes up and crashes almost immediately. Without them, it runs fine but with broken audio.
Working on a port of the core for Evercade and the same thing happens. The core apparently preloads ALL of the soundtrack into RAM right after the ROM boots up. In my case I can't get the soundtrack small enough to fit in available RAM but for your android Device you may be able to get away with re-encoding the MP3 files to a much lower bitrate like 64kbps just to see if you can run it with audio at all.

But I already have genesis plus gx, what do I do? It installs on top of it, is there a way to install it as an alt core without ruining genesis plus gx?

tell that to the dev while the game also missing graphics like sexy sax man doesn't appear and also save feature bugged.

also the music in this game repeating and doesn't correct.. seems like emulator i guess.

Because it is still experimental, it is certain that there will be many bugs and what is certain is that in the next month or two, this game will be able to run successfully without any more problems in every system.

I paid for this ages ago, received NOTHING. I finally enjoy it!

Can't wait till this game gets totally "exploited":

• First and foremost, official global Genesis Plus GX support

• I'd love a SEGA CD conversion, just burn and pop that sucker in and enjoy!

• A CHD compressed version so a single file can load normally

• Why not... a regular MD music conversion (sound demake), with all the soundtrack in YM2612 glory!
Yes I hope so too. And chd. With the audio sizes this should have been a sega cd or Saturn or PS1 some shit. Cause it's unfair to be like check out my 2GB sega genesis game guys.

The Android version posted here in the comments works perfectly, but you have to manually install in a retroarch that has never downloaded the core of Genesis Plus GX, this is the big 'trick'.

it probably uses one of the advanced compression algorithms the basic unzip tools don't support to get the 10MB file down to 507kb. I had no issues with extracting it on PC either.

To everyone who can't open the Android core. The file is not corrupt. You have to open it on a PC archival program. I used Linux Mint to extract the file and it extracted perfectly. I'm not sure why but my Android phone would not open it. 7zipper on Android doesn't work either.

This is my first post ever so it's nice to meet you all and thank you all for your hard work.

I mean I beat the first levels barely taking any damages. I tried just standing in the middle of the screen doing nothing, and I don't get attacked. To me, it feels like a crappy game, all style, nothing else.

There are difficulty levels in this game. Also beat'em up games are about mindless fun (easy to pick up and easy to control), but for some reason people think that they should be like fighting games.
I get attacked in this game. Even on sissy difficulty level.
Not to mention you need to play original mode to play all paths to have them unlocked in arcade mode.
By completing the game on hard mode, a paprium difficulty level is unlocked.

As usual, this place is way behind on things.
The upload in the main post is several versions behind.

Here's the latest core https://github.com/RapidEdwin08/Genesis-Plus-GX-Expanded-Rom-Size
You'll have to manually set up msys2 for Windows to get your 64bit .dll core file, or compile on another platform of your choosing (Linux PC, Linux Pi4-5, Android), no precompiled version is available on the github.

I attached the 07-07 build here, including an info file (unique core name, no need to rename anything, works alongside normal genplusgx:
Well, if you think this "place is way behind on things", why don't you become a collaborator and help keep the repository updated? You won't, will you? Then just shut your mouth and appreciate the work done by these people to keep this website running which does a better job at preserving retro gaming than the entirety of gaming industry. If you want to be useful, next time just send the update without your cool edgy empty criticism attached to it.

Can't get the android core zip to open on my phone it keeps say cant extract file so I tried on my laptop and says it corrupted. Than I used an online extract service and it said it was 11 mb than when I opened it it was back to 570 kb it still won't show up on android my files and android retroarch be it regular or plus does any one know if it's problem on my end or the file downloading is damaged or corrupted?
the android core on this site extracted fine for me. the core is ~10.5mb and the zip has a folder in it named arm64-v8a and the core is inside that. compressed the zip is 570kb. it may require decompression with a newer version of 7z than you have on your phone

does anyone know if there is a GitHub or something with the modded core's source? I saw the source packed with other stuff on a site but I'm looking for wherever the source "lives" and as each core update happens that set of source files is current to match.

Dude when I go to load content it doesn't give me an option to use the core for this bin, what am i doing wrong???
are u on android?
on android , u dont need the ddl file!

all u have to do stands right here:

+
in your rom folder u have to put the .bin file AND the folder with all the mps3

have fun!

you probably have retroarch set to restrict content to known working extensions and haven't added an "info file" for the new core listing what extensions it works with. Goto retroarch/info and find the genesis plus gx info file, make a copy of it and rename it to the exact same name as the core you added. then edit the info file in any text editor and change the core's name to reflect that it is for Paprium so inside of retroarch you can tell the difference between the original and modded core.
