The file size is due to the music files on mp3. The actual game is 8MB. To play this on retroarch you have to use the core included, a modified genesis plus core, else the game will play a fake low res "mockup". So go to your retroarch cores folder, backup and delete your genesis_plus_gx_libretro.dll and replace it with the one included with the game. After that just load content and find the game .bin.

Download from Repo

Finally, this scam disguised as a game got dumped, in honor of all the people who never got to play it, I bet is not even that good, probably a lame clone of SOR games

I finally managed to get it work on a R36S!
I give the steps:

- Download "R35S ArkOS.rar" from https://archive.org/download/not_paprium_retroarch
- Extract the file.
- Insert your SD to your computer.
- Put "paprium.bin" (the Rom) and the folder "paprium" (with the *.mp3 files) to your "megadrive" folder on the "EASYROMS" partition.
- You need to access the hidden partition (Linux) in order to modifiy the cores.
I personally used this software under my Windows https://www.paragon-software.com/es/home/linuxfs-windows/
- Once on "root" partition, go to "home/ark/.config/retroarch/cores"
- Paste and replace the file "genesis_plus_gx_libretro.so"
- Do the same in the folder "home/ark/.config/retroarch32/cores" (THIS is the step I was missing!).
- Boot the game once, get the 8bit fake game. Restart (select + start). The real game will finally boot!

God Damn!!! this looks complicated to make it work?!?

Does this run on a polymega?

Thanks i got it running on my R36S and R36H android and Pc now woohoo!!!

Hi,
Can you, please, tell me exactly how did you manage to run it on a R36S ?
You download the "R35S ArkOS.rar" and you replaced the *.SO file?
And then, just choosing that emulator and core from the options?
TIA

hey spike can you update and upload the core in there for switch, playstation vita and also ark os they will also update for 3ds coming next..

psp failed testing not working, it seems the hardware not powerful enough.

file is here this include an updated paprium file

Try Total Commander apk, its a file manager. Copy the Android core here in the repo with it to your retroarch core folder, root of your tvbox
The version on google play seems incompatible with my android TV, only my phone shows up, id there an older version or something?

i've tested this and it's surreal seeing this game actually working on an emulator, it's not a masterpiece by all means but it's a decent game despite the kind of people the devs are, my only complaint is that i don't like using retroarch so i hope someone makes it work outside of it

Really I like Retroarch it has so many options.

Check paprium-genesis_plus_gx_libretro_android_all.7z i just added I think there is now.

Do anyone know of a 'genesis_plus_gx_paprium_libretro (Linux 32bit)' file available? I ask because I'm running an arcade cabinet with an Odroid XU4 and that's a 32 bit ARM, not 64.

I also want to know if this rom can be played on an Anbernic console or R36S
I tested on an Anbernic 35XX H running muOS Pixie, it seems to be playable (I did not have a chance to play all the way through and for whatever reason the Original mode does not save my progress) if you swap out the default genesis_plus_gx_libretro.so core file with the one from the Updated Paprium RetroArch Core zip from the one that is labeled "R36S" oddly enough. On muOS, it should be easier to change the *.so files on the SD card with muOS was installed on. I haven't found a way to keep both original and the Paprium core yet but I did back up my original Genesis Plus GX with muOS. I hope the method that haojiezhu found for Windows can work on an Anbernic Linux handheld.

Thanks for the cores. Played through level 1 and it seems pretty mid.

This is misterbuh. Signing out.
Yeah it's pretty ass. Only kinda cool things are you can use Bully as an OTG to keep up the punishment but often the hitboxes aren't right and you whiff the Bully attack while they're knocked down and seamlessly being able to combo and back attack is nice I guess but SOR 2 and 3 are just by far and away better.

Does anyone know if someone is working on a version without the 400+mb of mp3 files?

If you mean proper full emulation, then no. It would require dumping stm32 code for reverse engineering of extra chips which are responsible for decompressing and processing of music date from game's rom.

I have a NOKIA 8000 Android Stream Box (Android TV of some sort) can I use this with it? I tried to install it prior but it broke Genesis Plus GX I had to reinstall RetroArch to fix it, unfortunately after the update to Android 12+ I can no longer access the Apps folder to tweak cores manually.

Here it is a how to install cores for retropie on pi 3 4 and probably 5. It works, in my old retropie without bgm but cause its a very old one (4.5.1)

Para los que tengan Retropie en RPi, acá encontré algo y me funciona (sin la música pero , mi retropie es antiguo)(4.5.1)

Somewhat on topic but to play the game i need to change the core folder to a non root folder and everytime i do it defaults to the default folder and I don't have root access on my phone do I need to reinstall retroarch or what do I need to do here
I do not know. I do not use android version.
But you should have options so you can change it or put this modified core under different name in your core folder. Or use history option to play it. So you do not have to look for files again.

Not exactly. Extra chips are only used to decompress music data and make its quality better as it can be passed through pin connectors on Model 1 and 2 consoles. Graphics and sound effects are handled by a console itself. Plus a rom size is much, much larger than what was used back in the day. Thus more variety in graphical elements.

Although in their defense this game is also the genesis equivalent to a super fx 1&2 game apparently so it does make at least some sense why the game is the way it is.
