Non-Gaming Hot Takes

I can barely tell the difference between 720 and 1080 unless its a very big screen or a game thats high fidelity
It's like how PS5 vs PS5 Pro comparison video only works when having both side by side with HD and a big screen enabled to make a significant difference.

1080p for movies is still enough for me or else I'd go to cinema to have the full experience™
It makes sense for dipper to do that as a young boy

I think its more how when you're 15 you see 12 year olds as little kids

Nah its still in topic bc zoomers love GF like its the best cartoon ever

hell I remember nostalgia critic saying "Are cartoons now better than ever?!" because of it and steven universe lol

Also ford didnt have enough appearamces
Why was he in the backround so much?
I am almost always annoyed at romance subplots involving a love interest with barely any personality beyond "I'm a woman" in cartoons (even adult ones have a hard time making it interesting).

Some people could also tell that the age gap is problematic (although in a series where both characters are adult I find it silly to say it's bad when they're like 5 years appart even if the younger of the two is in their mid to late twenties).

The actual dark age of animation was when there were only badly animated saturday morning cartoons that only existed to sell toys
Eh, I kinda disagree because a lot of cartoons are selling toys while being good.

TMNT '87 in its first season was a good show. They got some janky and innocent charm but could work. Same with Japanese series.

The harley quinn show is safe edgy trash
At least hazbin hotel has good songs and great animation
Safe Edgy is a novel concept? Harley works better as Joker's second than by herself sadly (if she's not shipped with Ivy by people that love yuri).

Its also contributed to this new version of harley quinn I hate
I also preferred when Joker was also a clown. If you remove that aspect then you miss the Joker completely.

This hurts to be honest. Especially when some could be potentially great.

60 FPS is comfortable for action games requiring precise inputs (like fighting games) but if it's a turn based RPG it's not like I'd complain.

I think some PC players got to a point where if a game at 59.9 FPS they'd get upset.

On the other hand if a game is 60 FPS but the remaster at 30 I'd still find it annoying.

frame count is important since the game will be design around how fast the action and information will be displayed to the player. it also affects responsiveness and reaction time alongside planning and adjusting tactics. fighting games, action, adventure, shooters and platforming games require near instant inputs from the player in many instances.
turn based games, not so much. i rather the gameplay was quick and load times quicker. the one major flaw of mega man x: command mission is the insanely long load times for battles. the battles themselves are quick, and they end quick, but they feel like they take forever to load.
pc players complain about everything while proclaiming that pc gaming is superior to console gaming. leave them be and let them wallow in their self made pits of despair and anguish.
going from 60 to 30fps would have a drastic effect on the gameplay. if i remember correctly, totalbiscuit had a video showing off removing the frame cap for a racing game. it was set at 30 and he showed of 60 and 120 fps. he crashed nearly instantly at 120 fps. it was hilarious.

i've compare the two. you absolutely need a big ass, massive tv to get the most out of 1080. 720 is hd, 1080 and above is for showing off.

Nah framerate is 100% noticeable. If someone asks me to tell the difference between a game running at 900p or 1080p I will kinda notice (720p vs 1080p is pretty noticeable esp side by side), but a game running at a stable 60fps vs an unstable 50ish is night and day everytime. Maybe it won't ruin my experience, but I will absolutely notice. I enjoy plenty of games that barely-if-ever hit 30fps on PS3 and I still routinely seek out and play old 5th generation games, a generation notorious for having unstable framerates on OG hardware for most 3D software.

Still remember the 7th and early 8th generations where people tried to say wild stuff like 30 vs 60 wasn't noticeable. There were also the odd few ducks who would swear that the human eye could barely see 60fps. Odd times to be sure.

Up to about 90/120fps you can really notice a difference between the big thresholds (30/60/90/120). Some can also see a bit of a difference between 120 and 144, but beyond that its entirely snake oil for the vast majority of users. 60fps is really all that's necessary though, even if my years of playing certain games at 120/144fps has me wishing all games were optimized for such performance.

Little boys having crushes on old women is cute, we've all been there, and wendy being way tougher than him so he looks up to her is cute too; but she's so boring she's got no flaws
Also again even if Dipper was a teen that bitch had 5 boyfriends at 15 he shouldve run away lol

I feel like the same goes for reverse (little girls crushing on older guys) but a lot of the time it gets creepy because it’s more likely the relationship will come to fruition.

For Wendy I think this was part of her flaw, she can be insensitive to those she’s in relationships with; She could be immature at times, often leaving her task to get into trouble. She did come off as generic cool girl at points, but at the same time Dipper is the mc , scenes are set to his perspective. I was in high school not that long ago, I didn’t get any but a lot of people were flip flopping in relationships. Just seemed to be the thing people did at that age.

Anime and as a greater whole TV in general isn't really enjoyable anymore. No I don't want to dedicate every waking second to binge watching your long ass show that isn't interesting or pushing any boundaries. All of these hyper serious blockbuster type shows just bore the hell out of me. I miss when these longer type shows still had some level of charm in how it was written as well as being serious. Take the scene from The Sopranos when Tony is talking to the fish at the market for example. I won't get too deep since I don't want to spoil (it's still one of the greatest mafia shows) but it basically shows how deep seeded Tony's distrust of people around him is and how it's affecting his mental state. It's goofy as hell but pushes that idea really well. On the Anime side, It's just annoying lately how we get like 1 or 2 decent shows and the rest is just "I Never Imagined Getting Run Over Would Bless Me With A Life With a 14-Year Old Baddie" I miss shit like GITS and Inuyasha and stuff like that that had strange tropes but weren't crazy weird about it. I'm not opposed to fan-service, sometimes it can enhance a show's plot kinda like how Kill La Kill did it. But when it's stuff like some of these new shows that only focus on that, I just can't see how anyone can get into it.

I also want to mention that even if we get decent shows in the realm of Anime, A lot of them just don't interest me. Like I should watch Solo Leveling, I hear it's pretty awesome, but the plot just sounds dumb. Even that Dandadan show seems cool but the plot about homie's nutsack just turns me off of it. I don't know. Once I get the feeling to eventually finish Durarara I might check these out, but I have a hard time these days sitting through a show.

I always think about that one episode where Tony's mom is all computer generated because her actor died. Hilarious.

It happens to every girl

It may come to fruition bc women in general go for older guys and vice versa

I didn't think about it but yeah it could be a flaw, but my problem is it was One Scene with Mable where it's treated as a half-joke
I listened to all the dvd commentaries and Hisch said they wanted to do a wendy episode but they didnt wanna break her coolness or something which is a weak excuse I say

Also I dont think dipper being the main chara excuses it cause Seuss got an episode, hell theres even one where we get a look at Robbie's life

I recommend Dandandan

yeah, some shows don't need to be insanely long. a short show is just as good as a long one. some stories benefit from being short and concise.

I don't have any hope for the king of the hill sequel, I think it's gonna suck

Omg, and you can tell it was all slowed down and sped up at places. lol

It was a shame she passed. But, if I am being truly honest. It actually helped the entire story of the show. They needed to start fleshing out more characters and making us understand why they would have motives to do the things they do etc. Instead of the constant back and fourth with Tony and his Mum, which I could see going on for another couple of seasons at least, or even more.

Or south park, thats one of the few 90s shows that hasnt lost its bite
South Park never had bite because they have always worn dentures. Their message has always been to promote conformity in the guise of rebellion. They never once stuck it to the man because they think those who oppose the man are the man. And they get away with it because younger audiences (inexperienced with the topics) won't notice this so long as the episodes have enough poop jokes (or joke, as they just repeat the same one over and over). But the writers themselves have always been old men yelling at clouds while wearing the skin of someone much younger.

This goes for all other Comedy Central shows as well.

I've always enjoyed South Park, And I like the newer stuff but it really is just the way you say these days. I miss when Matt and Trey weren't afraid of just being goofy. I think that's where South Park shines is in it's ridiculous nature. The Stick Of Truth and Fractured But Whole are I think the pinnacle of that idea. Those were written as good as they were because they were video games. Snow Day sucks though.

They always pushed the envelope on what's allowed to be joked about on tv and were never afraid of anyone, they were even the only ones who dared to directly make fun of scientology

saying "people were too young and dumb to get it's bad" is old man yelling at cloud beheaviour, I actually ended up liking it way more as an adult

RIP Issac Hayes. That man was another victim of Scientologist's bullshit. All of the stuff that has come out about his departure in the past few years makes it even more sad that he left. He didn't even want to stop voicing Chef in the first place. His son has talked a bit about it.

I loved how ched had like the magical power of summoning celebrities lol
They also never stopped pushing the envelope and being offensive which I love lol, I can't even talk about the shit they make fun of on socail media haha
I guess it's also cause they have a ton of material today now that viewers can be even more sensitive than the 90s

Family guy post season 3 isn't bad
Yeah the animation sucks and I liked the way it looked before much better, but it still makes me laugh unlike most modern shows, and the acting's really good

I agree, aside her being from a lumber-jack family she has little to nothing making her original. I wish she was more on the tomboy side but that's it. There were other redhead character before in cartoons so even that isn't original.

I don't know if it's controversial but somehow if the genders were reversed (while the younger would still be the one crushing on the older) people online would've debated on the problematic nature of that relationship even if it was strictly a one-way crush while the other would only see them as a friend.

Pacifica is really that interesting as an alternative choice btw?

Personally I still dislike edginess for the sake of appearing more mature (when in fact it's not mature at all). South Park had some interesting plot points but I feel that they're being provocative for the sake of it.

This summarises perfectly this concept

If you wanna talk about the joker movie idk if its a hot take but I guess normies like it

Someday I'll watch Taxi Drivers.

But I feel that Joker is basically a remake of Falling Down.

She's also in a complete Stockholm syndrome (of course her relationship with him is toxic but that's the entire point of the character). Arkham managed to modernise her original design instead of that punk looking girl with a bad chewing bubblegum that I don't like that much...

It's probably me but the idea of turning her lesbian with Ivy is like saying that lesbian women are just abused straight women when Poison Ivy isn't really that nice of a person either (yes, even if she's a victim).

it insists upon itself
I don't understand what this means.

I don't understand what this means.
it's from a scene in family guy where the griffins lock themselves up in a safe room when some intruders break in. the water sprinklers turn on and they are nearly about to drown when peter says that he doesn't like a movie. i don't remember which one, but he says "it insists upon itself" as his reason why.

Bad wording, I was meaning more of to point towards the same point of commentaries. What I ment by Dipper being the mc, is him influences how the show frames Wendy, not wanting to break the fantasy (best example is not seeing parents as fully fleshed out people till older). It would have been real nice to have an episode to humanize her more, maybe after the underground bunker episode, that could make a good turning point.
