Mega Man Megathread

Everyone says the Gunvolt games are good and worth playing. I get this distinct feeling that suggests otherwise.

Well, Bass is nowhere to be seen in the MMX series, so it's safe to guess that eventually he ended up being decommissioned by Wily. His capabilities were later surpassed by his more advanced bootleg, Zero.

He probably dismantled him to recycle parts to  make Zero. :loldog

That wouldn't be too unlikely considering the similarities that Absolute Zero's design has to Bass's.

Actually, Bass "took care" of Dr. Wily and went to live in the woods with Treble. My uncle who works at Capcom said so, therefore it's canon. ::winkfelix

I just finished the first 26 episodes of MegaMan NT Warrior, which are considered the "First Area" of the anime, so I'll quickly write down my thoughts in no particular order.

- Lan and MegaMan's friends are being useful! Wow!!!
- I like the environmental designs of the internet locations, especially the sky.
- I love the original WWW members so much, and now I'm sad only Mr. Match made reappearances.
- I love Count Zap's American-accented Japanese.
- I'm really not a fan of the "Roll Becomes an Evil Dominatrix" plot point for reasons that should be obvious when looking at her.
- Not to sound like a weeb, but I'm glad that STE-Subs retained the honorifics and Eastern name order.
- Holy shit, that finale was amazing.
- I love how they conveyed Chaud's realization that he cares about ProtoMan as more than just digital data without spelling it out outright. That's some good writing, yo.
- I love Chaud's theme track. It's so jazzy.
- I may or may not have teared up a little over MegaMan's deletion and Lan's grief over it. Just a little, though.

I can't wait for Bass' debut in the Second Area.

Peak Wily stage music.
Seriously, the MMII fanbois anoy me. The second game was great and has great music, but every other game has great OST too. This Willy Stage music was even pretty unique. Feels like Willy is making warcrimes and Megaman is going to have lots of PTSD. Very scary vibe, so cool.

But yeah... Megaman III best Megaman *Runs away :loldog

Mega Man 2 is honestly my second least favorite out of the numbered classic series entries. 7 meanwhile is my second favorite.

its so fun and cute hehe return ASAP

You know, I actually forgot about that game! About a year ago I finally gave Mega Man a real chance since I never owned any of them as a kid except X for the SNES. Once I wrapped my head around it and adjusted to the play style I ended up loving it so much that I continued to play them in order from the 1st NES one on up and Dive was something I was looking at that, no matter what anyone else thought about it, I thought looked really cool and wanted to play! And I loved the hacks of Mega Man 1-6 where you could be Roll instead and being able to play with all the different characters looked like fun. Anyway, I totally forgot about it after I moved on down my back log and then you made this post and reminded me about it. I really need to get that game and play it! Until then though (unfortunately) I can't really talk about it with any real substance because I've never played it. Everything I say would remain hollow until I could experience it and create my own understanding out of everything it offered. But hopefully I can get a hold of it and play it sooner rather than later and if a reasonably short enough amount of time goes by I'll try to remember to respond and express my feelings about it. What do you think about it? Is is fun? What did it make you feel? Tell us what you love about it! I'd love to know more!

I want to talk about it.

It's a great concept: turning a gacha into an offline game and bundling nearly all the content it offered over the years under a single payment. That said, MMX Dive clearly suffers from being a mobile-first game, with a clunky and convoluted user interface that feels all over the place when played on PC or console.

Not gonna lie—my younger self had a huge crush on Iris. Being able to play as her and put her in a bikini would've sent teenage me absolutely spiraling. I remember how hard it was to find reference images of her for my drawings back in the early 2000s. Funny enough, nowadays, I couldn’t care less.

In my view, MMX Dive is an interesting piece of Mega Man history—similar to how Mighty No. 9 is: flawed but notable. I’d recommend picking it up only if it’s on sale... or, honestly, just pirate it.

The gameplay is fun, but it’s undeniably a downgrade from what made Mega Man great. From aesthetics to controls, everything feels like a weaker version of what came before. It’s "fun-ish," but has that familiar modern taste: a watered-down rendition of something that used to be amazing. Sometimes it feels like the decline of Mega Man mirrors broader cultural and economic decay—yet another small sign of recession.

I just can’t wait for Mega Man X Corrupted.

I still have it and fiddled it with a lot of mods that I forgot what they were, aside the usual collaboration restore mods. Will find my notepad list and see what I installed ::lol

Wanna play it to sometime. It's the one with Vergil right? And a ton of characters.
I'd ask if the gameplay gets old but maybe the huge roster balances it out.

I'd be lying if I said that including Harpuia and Leviathan but ignoring the other two didn't chap my cheeks ::mad

YA'LL OUT HERE ADDING GATE LIKE THERE WAS MORE THAN TWO PEOPLE THAT LIKED X6 ::200mad
