Mega Man Megathread

Every time the MM thread gets bumped there’s a small feeling of dread over whichever bizarre conversation could be taking place.
oh nvm this this freaking awesome
Holy freaking man I’m almost crying reading this. I always believed in my goat akira. This man has more love for Megaman in his pinky then Capcom has in their 40 years history making games.
Actually, Bass "took care" of Dr. Wily and went to live in the woods with Treble. My uncle who works at Capcom said so, therefore it's canon. ::winkfelix
Damn what a coincidence my uncle said the same thing.

I just finished the first 26 episodes of MegaMan NT Warrior, which are considered the "First Area" of the anime, so I'll quickly write down my thoughts in no particular order.
Wholesome. I’m happy you enjoyed it so much. It’s a big piece of my love for Megaman.
- Lan and MegaMan's friends are being useful! Wow!!!
Yeah. The filler in this does a great job of showing how reliable his friends are.
- I like the environmental designs of the internet locations, especially the sky.
- I love the original WWW members so much, and now I'm sad only Mr. Match made reappearances.
I’m curious what this means, is it in relation to the games? Well If so then rest assured as W3 members are staples in the show.
- I love Count Zap's American-accented Japanese.
He is so adorable.
- I'm really not a fan of the "Roll Becomes an Evil Dominatrix" plot point for reasons that should be obvious when looking at her.
I successfully delete that episode from my conscience. A shame i remember it exists each time I rewatch the show which is a lot. Oh, at least fanartists never referenced this ep. In fact the art is usually really wholesome.
- Not to sound like a weeb, but I'm glad that STE-Subs retained the honorifics and Eastern name order.
This is literally me every time. I want this starndized so bad, if only so I’d stop suffering an aneurysm each time I replay a Yakuza game. (Not to get too off topic but this one even worse cuz you can at least excuse NT for being vaguely international but Yakuza is so ingrained in JP culture that I cringe so bad when reading the Americanized subs)
- Holy shit, that finale was amazing.
- I love how they conveyed Chaud's realization that he cares about ProtoMan as more than just digital data without spelling it out outright. That's some good writing, yo.
- I love Chaud's theme track. It's so jazzy.
I love him so much. I once had a transmasc acquaintance who really identified with the char which was wholesome.
- I may or may not have teared up a little over MegaMan's deletion and Lan's grief over it. Just a little, though.
I may have teared super badly.
I can't wait for Bass' debut in the Second Area.

Ok what tf is this comment section.
Everyone and their gramma telling their life stories.
It sounds more like a therapy session.

There was no new megaman game from capcom so I'm in this megaman thread instead. Seriously where is it capcom!?

Capcom got too lazy so it's fans' jobs to make the new Megaman games now.

Too bad most of them are terrible at that.
Not everyone's built for the job.
It's all subjective, a matter of personal preference. Some hit the mark, and others fail to achieve the greatness their creation was inspired by. Still, there's many worth playing, and every player will have a different experience with each one.

8BDM is pretty peak though.
It's good, but it's got nothing on Megaman X Online Deathmatch.
That game was amazing back when it had servers up, even though the community is absolute garbage.

I began playing MegaMan Star Force: Dragon yesterday. So far, so good.

I remember playing MegaMan Battle Network maybe 10 years ago, but I don't remember how far I've gotten. I never touched the Star Force games, because I assumed that Battle Network and Star Force were part of the same series and therefore should play BN first.

What sparked my interest in Star Force now is that I was chatting about Tokusatsu and someone mentioned that MegaMan from Star Force is practically a Tokusatsu-type hero since he transforms and all. I got to more digging and found out that (1) Star Force technically takes place 200 years after Battle Network, so the story of BN maybe isn't that relevant and (2) fans didn't enjoy Star Force that much due to a combination of fatigue from BN and also that they felt that Star Force mechanics were watered down. So if anything, if I'm going to get into MegaMan, maybe it is best if I start from the "watered down" mechanics of Star Force and then go back to the more complex Battle Network later.

If I ever finish those, maybe then I'll re-try the platforming games, maybe starting with Zero and then ZX. I tried a few of the NES games once and I was so bad at it, I gave up immediately ::nervous-prinny

Just say Mega Man 9 and 10. They're, like, the only Mega Man games on the Wii, not counting Virtual Console rereleases.

Just thinking about those two pisses me off to no end.

I liked Mega Man 9 & 10. What didn't you like about them? Or did you already mention it previously in this thread?

Didn't ask, don't care.
Megaman 7 was underrated in every way, and still is.

If you don't want people giving their opinions in response to yours, stop posting on a forum.

Um, basically everything?
If it's because they play like Mega Man 2 then I wholeheartedly agree. But to me they're at least a better Mega Man 2.

Mega Man 7 and 8 are where it's at with the art style. Real shame there's only Mega Man Soccer in 7's art style

I stated my opinion and you responded as if it was directed toward you. I'd say it in your AMA thread if I wanted your negative take on something I value.

Soccer is not the same art style as 7.
