With ILL and Hellraiser Revival coming out, I'm thinking about the black sheep of current gen, the Xbox Series S. Is it a good console to play in this gen?

What I mean is do developers actually put effort on their games for the Xbox Series S, or is it a slideshow machine?

I'm thinking for now about the games Cyberpunk 2077, Robocop, Alone in the Dark, Still Wakes The Deep and Warhammer Space Marine 2 on the machine.

Also if I have another Xbox console, like a 360, does putting a Series as primary messes with the other consoles online licenses and playing offline?

I don't have it so it's hard to judge
But i heard latest WWE game works like shit on it, with constant lags and freezes, and so is Alan Wake 2 than again AW2 works terrible on all platforms
overall it seems to get the least amount of attentions now

If you're happy with the price it’s at right now and there are games you want to play on it, just go for it. It may not exceed your expectations, but it should do tje job, and you probably won't regret it.

This is what I found.

it depends what you mean by "good point"
if you don't mind digital games, and don't care about having ther best graphics and such, then it's fine.
I have a Switch 2, personally. it's portable, and plays all the newer stuff I want. And the file sizes are substantially smaller than ther PC versions of the same games (which matters to me)

I don't have it,I have a series X but a friend has a series S.The difference is that you get less resolution only up to 1440p and 30 fps or 60 fps and 1080p for quality and performance modes.

Game version quality depends on the effort that company puts in making the port for example I know RE4 remake has a weird graphics problem in series S involving ray tracing you can't turn off (you only can turn it on or off in series X for some weird reason) and textures that doesn't load properly because of this,Capcom knows this bug and never fixed it and this cases depends on the game and third party developers.

For the price is a capable machine just you need to know is for gaming on a budget,is better than Xbox one and is better than a ps4 yes probably but compromises are only digital games,500 gb sdd internal which is fast but reduced storage.
Pros are game pass, the possibility of using emulators legally using dev mode, backwards compatibility with Xbox,360 and entire Xbox one library along with new gen games and yes you can use other Xbox in the meantime without any problems.
I won't pay more that 200-250 € or $ because I won't consider it worth it considering the cons and pros but if its an okay price is probably worth it.

me personally i wouldnt go with digital only
not sure if the next gen xbox is good but windows 10/11 is a nightmare
ps5 is too
id just skip this current gen unless you plan on buying one of the current gen consoles and only playing physical games imo

Yeah, that's what I'm worried about.

Thanks! Joke's on them. I'm keeping my 360 offline forever!

I've found it as 160€ (same on dollars) and for that price and to buy and install a few games looks a good proposition, but the performance is probably not the best.

it seems they already fixed that problem I mentioned in that game after 3 years of people reporting it so don't worry in that specific case.

I mean for 160 and if it was like my only choice for a new console I'll take it,of course series x and ps5 are better and more stable in performance, doesn't mean Series S is trash or anything the problem is developers sometimes don't want to put effort in optimizing their games for this console, they want the job easy so the problem is on them not on the console, not everyone can afford the other ones because instead of getting cheaper they are getting more and more expensive over time.

In my opinion all these attacks and insults on the media over series s is because they hate the extra effort and they hate budget consoles, they want you to spend a lot of money on the top models, the industry hates Series S solely for this reason along with gamers that stayed with their old PS4's.

The thing is that I don't see much use in having a PS5, Xbox Series X or a beefy gaming PC. There aren't that many games I wanna play from current gen. So spending 500+ bones on to play 5 or so games feels wasteful to me.

The slight against the Series S and PS4 is from people that have the current gen premium console models. They want developers to push the most out of the hardware and see the Series S and the PS4 as draging down the potential of the games coming out.
