As the title says, this ended up being a game I hated after finishing. So let's waste no time getting into this game. Starting with the story the game has. The story is an idiot plot where Kirby gets upset because someone stole his cake and kirby and blamed it on Dedede despite the fact that Dedede has stolen food at all since the first game, since that was a thing he only did in the first kirby game. The idiocy continues when fucking Meta Knight just comes out of nowhere at the end of the Daroach boss fight and just steals the treasure chest that Daroach has and just fucks off and refuses to explain anything and just dips out to world 7 secret sea. After beating Meta Knight, Daroach steals the important treasure that Meta Knight had which was revealed to be the the lamest final boss of all kirby games being that Dark Nebula, the easiest final boss of all kirby games where you really don't have to try very hard to beat it you just beat it then win. There isn't even a second phase to this piece of shit excuse of a final boss it's just one phase and that's it. Also side note it's pretty fucking stupid that the squeaks, Daroach's gang still steals treasure while their boss is very clearly not himself just thought I've mentioned that because I find it to be stupid. But anyways here's my biggest beef against this game below.

The game brought that the annoying thing from Kirby & the amazing mirror where if you get hit you just your ability and have to go on a wild goose chase to get it back. Moving on from that the game bubble storage which is a neat idea but then the game introduced treasure chests which take up room in your storage which there's about three per level, it gets real annoying when your inventory is full and there's a health item nearby and you can't grab and use it because your inventory is full making you miss that health item or even a copy ability since both of those items are in a bubble which you have store those things then tap the bottom screen of the DS to use. Another thing that just annoyed me about this game is that you can't go back to collect treasure you missed either because of your inventory being only able to hold up to 5 items. While on the topic of treasure chests in the levels, the most annoying thing about those things is when you die you lose the squeak treasure chest you had in your inventory forcing you to just restart the level entirely.

This game has another layer of annoyance that being pick a path gimmick the game likes to use which is just agony because you can't turn back in this game, the worst example of this is Secret Sea Secret Stage where the treasures are hidden behind this bullshit garbage pick a door shit.

This game also has some bosses I just hate such as the Mecha-Kracko boss where the cloud platforms are unstable and can disappear which can give you little to no room to fight against it unless you use the tornado ability to make the first phase easy, then comes the second phase where the tornado ability is liable to get you killed because the platforms at the end are gone. With the expectation of Daroach/Dark Daroach, I straight up don't like most of the boss fights in this example with the final boss being a special tier of shitty boss fights because of it being feeling so underwhelming that it's shit.

Honestly I just happy when the credits roll which I was just, "thank fuck, this game is over now I don't have bother playing this miserable experience and can just move on." Oh yeah as for how I'd ranked this game well E+ tier (A ranked I think is terrible) to D tier (If I'm feeling like I want to be nice) but yeah that's it I just got off from playing this game and hated it and wanted to share my frustrations with this game because it really tried my patience, that's about it then. I'm probably doing to do is Sonic colors DS next up for my review because I've taken quite a liking to that game and I've been working on that for some time but that aside that's about it then, see ya.

It sure is a game that exists. Going back to linear stages rather than taking another stab at an open-ended map certainly doesn't do it any favors either (in my opinion at least, Amazing Mirrors map had a lot of room for improvement, which feels kinda wasted since it was the only game to try that idea). Fortunately Super Star Ultra came out after this, which is one of the best Kirby games, so that's something at least.

It makes me wonder how Flagship managed to make good 2D Zelda games but made subpar Kirby games.

The ability star chasing because you got hit once is from Adventure/Nightmare in Dreamland but at least in that game you could easily get a new ability.

This game is a spiritual successor to Nightmare in Dreamland while forgetting the improvements brought by Superstar... Which thankfully got a remake on the same console (thus rendering it obsolete).

On the other hand I don't hate it because it requires the game to be actually bad and seeing the sea of shovelware the DS had I think kids that got this game still got lucky.

The Amazing Mirror is not that bad tho, it's not amazing, but I like it

Still dying on the hill that its the worst mainline game in the series. Squeak Squad tries to combine the play styles of both GBA games and fails at them both. The new abilities are cool, but they are also not practical at all. Especially Ghost, a huge disappointment of an ability after all the shit you had to do to get it. The ability fusion mechanic? Barebones, limited to only 3 elements to 3 abilities. The music is 50/50 as well. Even original music doesn't really do anything interesting. I think it's only the Squeak Squad theme, Digging Through the Clouds, Hero of Dreamland, and the final boss theme I cared about. Speaking of Star Allies, that was one hell of a glowup for Stormy Cloud which is kinda boring as is, but great when its fused to something else.
The Squeak Squad deserved a better game.

At least it kind of proves that the Kirby series is great enough that its weakest entry isn't horrible considering too many franchises had very low lows...

I think Mario is another series that doesn't have truly bad games when it comes to mainline (only mediocre spinoffs at worst).

Used to play it (It came with a rom pack preinstalled in my TWL menu cracked DSi), it's... adequate, not as memorable as Star Ultra or Canvas Curse, but still a Kirby Game, is the Super Mario Land 1 of Kirby, mid yes, a mid i love to meh

Glad we all agree it might be the blandest Kirby game without any real identity.
I was REALLY disappointed when my parents got this for me back in the day. No memorable stages, mostly forgettable music, the fusion mechanic is half-baked (when you compare it to like 3 or 64)... yup.
Amazing Mirror & Canvas Curse are great games so I guess topping those was gonna be hard!
