forefront that they hold the original and the fans in active contempt
People keep saying that, but that's usually not the case for most of these modern adaptions. There is no "contempt" a majority of the time. It's either imagined or certain fans are upset that they didn't get every single thing they wanted, and are way too possessive of something that was never theirs to begin with. Nor have ownership of. If you're talking about somebody like Uwe Bowell, you would have had a point back in the 2000s. Not every director/writer/creative that adapts these works have a hatred for the fans on the people who enjoy this stuff. Paul WS didn't hold contempt to the fandom, but he clearly just wanted to make movies with his wife, and that was it. His was just more apathy than mere contempt.
The people behind the Sonic movies are clear fans of this franchise. The same applies to the recent Mario movies, both modern Mortal Kombat films (even though I really don't like the first reboot film, because of the executive meddling), Cuphead TV show, and both Castlevania shows. I don't care what your feelings are on the shows, but none of them hold contempt for their fans. DMC Netflix doesn't either, but the director clearly needs to shut up and get off twitter. as much as I do like the show or the second season mainly he's not the savior of the franchise that he thinks he is. So far I haven't heard lip from him after season two aired. So hopefully he learned something. That's part of the problem: people in general need to stop engaging in social media ( be they creatives or actual regular people) and stop flinging each other and picking sides over the dumbest things. Something Kojima called out over twenty years ago. I judge things for how they are, and I don't try to throw myself into the drama, nor judge too much. Those are the toxic fans in fake fans tend to work this as always, on a majority of social media platforms. And then you got those that just want to start shit for the sake of it and nothing more, because they will never amount to anything in life. The only good thing from this is that grifter culture is finally collapsing in on itself, and having an identity crisis (as mentioned in the video near the end). So even the people they've been fooling and using are finally starting to realize this or break away to something more positive and constructive at least.
At the end of the day, choose what you want. But don't let these fools bother you, and just remember that hollywood is already a bankrupt industry, and the execs, don't care as so long as they get their money. So long is the actual creative team care and put their hearts into it, even if it's not their best, or if there's some change, I'll always have respect for regardless, if I like it or not, i'm sure it's held not gonna harass them for it. If I dislike it, I'll say my thoughts or rant, and then move on.
I will say video game adaptions into different media has gotten a lot better than it ever was in the 90s and 2000s. We will still get crap every now.And then, but the output has really been consistently good. I don't care what anyone else says on that.
