If you get called into work on your day off you should get overtime pay.
I would agree with that i used to get calls from management and im in scotland watching football on a saturday lol not much they can do if your not in the country

Was hungry earlier but didnt feel like cooking so i made me a PB&J sandwich with strawberry jelly. PB&J is not a sandwich I made on a constant basis growing up or even now and i kinda see why. It just tastes like peanut butter and a giant glob of sugar. I rarely ever taste any fruit flavor whether it be strawberry, grape or apple jelly. Literally just peanut butter and sugar.

Its not terrible obviously but i don't think i really like the sandwich that much if im being honest

Agreed, the ironic part is that pure Peanut butter o marmalade sandwiches taste better than together

Spoilers for Devil May Cry 5 - I actually love that V is the human half of Vergil and not a separate character. While interesting, if V was his own character, then him being Vergil's human half would not work. Especially since his familiars are not only just callbacks, but memories/nightmares from the first game. Griffon, Shadow, and Nightmare all fit. If V were his own character, it would be harder to explain or justify why he has DMC1 bosses and a mini boss as his familiars. Plus, you get some more character development and reveal just seeing and listening the human half of Vergil.

My only problem is that they don't bring back Phantom in some fashion, and the "dream" version of him dies in a prequel manga. I know it would have been hard for Itsuno and his team, but they could have tried something or drop a reference in a cut-scene/flashback. Even a lore note would have been preferable.

I'd say Konami's best brawlers are Violent Storm and Methamorphic Force (as long as you are playing the Japanese version). Yes, they are both better than TMNT Arcade and Turtles in Time (both versions). Violent Storm has all of these cool moves you can do and only need two buttons and a joystick. Every character plays completely differently, there are two different types of grabs you can perform, you can kick enemies while they're on the ground like in most of Konami's brawlers, universal dashing and off-the-wall-jump kicks, and a kick ass soundtrack. The game has the slapstick of the Crime Fighters series and TMNT that just works. The only flaw with the game is slightly low enemy variety, but the AI ain't stupid and have their own unique moves and block animations. In addition, Violent Storm is the best Final Fight sequel ever made.

Metamoprhic Force is X-Men and TMNT combined with Altered Beast. I have nothing else to add.

Seriously though, what is with the gaming industry's obsession with claiming these games or genres are "dead"? It doesn't matter if it's gamers, the professional critics/independent, or those from the publishing and developing side themselves. Though the critics tend to be the worst with it. Out of everyone, they love to claim the most that beat'em ups or brawlers are dead. They are running the same racket since the early to mid 2000s. While it's true that there weren't that many brawlers coming out in the late 2000s, they were still plenty in the indie market/xbla/psn that weren't trying to be like Devil May Cry or God of War.

It seems like most of these genres or games aren't dead, as these people like to claim, and it's more so they can't be bothered to play these type of games, hate or dislike these type of games, or indifferent towards them. But if it's a genre they like or have a positive bias towards, then they'll go to the Moon to defend it or them. The same logic can apply to certain developers or game makers with these attitudes.

"Single player is dead. Puzzle games are dead. Platformers are dead. 3D platformers are dead. Call of Duty is dead. Resident Evil is dead. The survival horror genre is dead. Hard games are dead. Arcade racing games are dead. No one plays old games anymore." It's all the same grift, because people like that are either insecure about the industry they are in, need to make all the money in the world, or just want to sound like they know everything come off of some wise intellectual.

I still remember that bull crap video from Clean Price Gaming when he said before God of War 4, the 3D hack n slash was "dying and running on fumes" and that they all need RPG elements to survive. I immediately called bullshit on it. And he had literally next to no and service level evidence to back it up. It's just that's how it happened apparently. Only for the Indie market to show them how full of crap CP is. With 2D style brawlers making a major resurgence in the late 2010s to early 2020s. Not to mention, still plenty of other stylish action games coming out after God of War 4. Devil May Cry 5 included and being the front runner. After that video, I stayed clear of him. Something was always off about him and fake. Glad I never subscribed or watched too many videos of him.

Prey's (2017) problem wasn't that it was too good, but so much as that nothing sticks out about it. The title could be summed up as 2017: The Game. All this reboot did is be another System Shock 2. We already had plenty of those by that point. Before and afterward. Nothing sticks out with the enemy design other than mostly black tentacle blobs. Say whatever you will about Bioshock and Dead Space, but they at least had something that sticks out. Bioshock is underwater and has the Big Daddies. Dead Space it's all about the necromorphs, the strategic dismemberment, and the Ishimura. The Sprawl in the sequel. Even Evil Within 2 has unique monster designs, a combination of RE and SH style horror, memorable characters, and a protagonist with personality, and a simple yet memorable motivation.

Double Dragon IV is not a bad game. In fact, I and most other fans find the game decent fun. Coming after Neon, IV does seem disappointing. What does not help is IV seems like a fan game thrown on to official stores. The good news is that you get the game at a cheap price of $7 on digital stores. Even for less whenever there is a sale. Though if you happened to find a physical copy at a Best Buy, expect to play $30.

IV several advantages over Neon and it's older NES sequels. IV has a good amount of bonus content. Neon only has difficulty options and a gallery you unlock after beating the game. That is it. This kills the replay value, unless you like grinding for mixtapes and mithril. Gets old really fast, if you already beaten the game before on a different console or played so much of the game. The past DD games on NES have little to no replay value; especially nowadays. IV has a versus mode, unlockable characters you can play in VS. or the main campaign, and Tower mode. Tower mode is survival mode and the further you get, the more characters you can unlock.

DDIV has many accessibility options. You get customizable controls and no longer limited at two buttons, unlike the NES Trilogy (the modern ports on Switch and PS4 fix this issue). You get at least 4 3 lives and 10 5 continues. Even when you lose all of your lives and credits. You can immediately start at the last stage you died at. There is even a level select. The only flaw is the platforming, but it is nowhere near as obnoxious as the NES trilogy, nor as tedious. Otherwise, a fun game that is the best of the NES Double Dragon Trilogy. Certainly better and more of DD game than the shitty 2.5D remake of DDII on the 360. Anyone remember that disaster coming out after Neon?

Another Oneechanbara hot take: the series really needs a good rival character. Not asking for a Vergil, but just a good one. Technically, Saki filled this role in the first game, and first half of Origin. Anzu and Sayaka sort of served as evil counterparts to Aya and Saki (mainly after the first game and Origin), but fight nothing like them. In fact, they are one of the few reoccurring boss fights in the series. Ironic, because in the original game Saki was the first one resurrect them. Reiko barely counts as a rival fight, and fights nothing like Aya. Her Origin counterpart, Lei, while better characterized by comparison, still fights mainly with guns and a knife. The closest to a true rival fight was Aya and Saki themselves against Kagura and Saaya. I take that back, it is a proper rival fight.

The next closest was Misery, and she came back three times, but not much is done with her in Z2: Chaos. She pretty much becomes Nelo Angelo, except the "twist" is so obvious that even calling it a non-twist would be an insult. Though in Z2, she is called Misha instead to pathetically disguise her, even though she wears the same outfit as Misery, and goes out barefooted. The only thing different is her more haggard appearance and the iron mask. How Aya and Saki never figure it out during the first boss fight with her is beyond me. The story later states after the second battle with her, that they had suspicions, but did not dwell on it. Huh.

Hoping in the next future title, Kagura and Saaya get another proper rival from completely new villains.

Killer Instinct (2013) has the best fighting game music ever! Of all time! More fighting games need dynamic music.

Gorillaz "Humanz" is an awesome album, and those complaining about it having "too much Hip Hop" obviously haven't been listening to the band that much, following them for the wrong reasons, or not paying attention. They missed the fact that Damon has been slowly phasing out the punk rock and hard rock aesthetics, since basically at the start of "Demon Days" and "Plastic Beach". There is still soundtrack variety in those, but there's definitely a lot more R&B and Hip Hop influence in them too. I will concede that the band was kind of pushed to the background with the album in 2017, and that Damon is not in there as much. He actually still is, but he's not singing as much in that one. I'll also can see that they had too many of those little skits, or short segway intros/outros segments that only just there to make the album seem longer than it actually is. Seriously, they might as well have just been part of the full song or not at all.

At least he made it up with the three other albums that came out later. His solo album which is pretty much all him, but a lot of those songs aren't that memorable. "The Now Now" only had three memorable songs. The rest fell into the background. "Song Machine" and "The Mountain" is a more "true" return to form I guess, but there's still a lot more Hip-Hop, R&B, and Soul on both. Especially the former. I'm not complaining. but I find it funny, almost no one makes a fuss over it in the newer albums. Probably because the band is at the forefront again, and Damon is on a lot more of the albums.

Any media where the whole point is nihilism, misanthropy (goes heavy and pretentious with humans are the real monsters trope), or both loses my immediate attention. I don't care how "deep" your characters are. If your whole point is pointlessness, then what's the point? You're just another smart ass that acts like they know everything about the world, or some edge-lord try hard seeking attention and validation. This also goes double for movies, shows, or books that try to present fantasy races as better/superior than humanity with little or no justification, other than because they are "in tune with nature", the author says "Fuck you and shut up, cuz I said so!", or the fantasy race(s) are not much better than humanity, and are usually worse. Yet we're supposed to like them or find them "sympathetic", because at least they're not human!

This means you Black Lagoon (or any show that goes too deep in to black and grey), Walking Dead, Elfen Lied, Tokyo Ghoul, Rick and Morty, Shaman King (manga and the second anime adaption), Avatar (2009), and Legend of Korra.

This is probably not much of a hot take anymore, but anyone that complains about Panty and Stocking having the same problems as Family Guy are full of it. Odds are they did not want to like the show to begin with, and only disliked it, because too many people hyped the show up. P&S does have its problems, has pop culture references (not to the crazy extent of FG) that became dated, and has plenty of random humor. The only difference is P&S is at least honest about its raunchy, low brow humor. FG tries to have it both ways in its later seasons. Also, I can still laugh for a good reasons in P&S. I can't say the same for FG. Another trivia, the former team at Gainax (now at their own studio, Trigger) were shit faced drunk and high at their Chistmas party. In order to come up with such absurd show, I don't know why people acted that surprised or were upset. The after credit ending still sucked, and should be avoided and ignored.

Next to Naru and Kagome, Anna Kyoyama is the third worst love interest in anime history. We have another entitled biatch in an anime/manga where abuse is okay as long as it's female on male. Fuck that. I always despised her. What's worse is that she's a bigger moocher than Minnie the Moocher. You want to be Shaman Queen, yet work your boyfriend to death so he can reach his both of yours your dream. But, while you are capable of fighting and etc., you rather not train as much. Why don't you do it yourself you lazy bitch? I don't care about your sad childhood! Cry me a fucking river! There's plenty of other shounen characters and protagonists to tell you to get off your ass, and do it yourself.

Out of all the old shows on Cartoon Network: Billy and Mandy is one of the shows to age the worst. It does not help that some or all of the writers love Mandy too much. And we're supposed to like her or see her win, because she's a big jerk ass that is "smarter and powerful" than anyone else. It's the writers saying fuck you! Mandy only loses some of the times, but that became less and less as the show went on. Also, she is another self-entitled misanthropic douche bag, so she wins no points for me.

Dexter's Lab I can't watch anymore because Dee Dee nearly ruins each episode for me. Ed, Edd, n Eddy is too frustrating to rewatch. I can watch the movie, but that is my threshold. Fuck off Kevin, and fuck off Sara!

We need more characters like her in anime. None of that tsundere, "HENTAI NO BAKA!!", bullshit.

The Crow shits on nearly all comic book movies. Not just the 90s, but those from the 2000s and 2010s too. This movie had a huge influence in not just comic movies, but other movies, and WCW (Sting's gimmick became the Crow for the rest 90s). The Crow gave influence to Blade (1998), Dark City, The Matrix, and Underworld (fucking garbage!). Either in looks, atmosphere, costume design, and music.

The Crow itself, not only got influences from Batman (1989). There's Heroic Bloodshed (The shootout at Top Dollars club and the final action scene in the Church), film-noir, and music videos. The movie may have dark moments, but there are plenty of light moments or those with humanity. The coloring in this movies proves that just because your dark, does not mean you can't have color. You can be dark, but not insecure about it, and not just have dull metal gray or dog-shit brown. The humor flows in naturally and does not have any of the MCU style humor, no Deadpool, nor constant lampshading, thank Christ! Sets it apart from everyone else and stick out positively. The action scenes are on point, and you get see more of Brandon Lee's athleticism one last time. The acting is great all across the board and no one misses a beat. Brandon is a treasure, and I still miss him.

Before I quit watching Rick and Morty, of the latter's parents, I consider Beth the worst before character development set in. Jerry had his problems, but I always found Beth the worst, because she was either the more toxic of the two (yet we're supposed to sympathize/see her in the complete right with her most of the time), or went way out there to please daddy and act like him. To the detriment of her own children. Yes, it is shown as unhealthy, but it really does not get properly called out on it, until midway and late in to Season 3. I will give the show credit for developing these two along with other characters in Season 4 & 5, but I had lost interests. I briefly returned to watch Season 5 of certain episodes for some loose ends, but that was it.

Also, I noticed that animated shows from 2010s sometimes had this weird habit of making mother characters were supposed to like or see as sympathetic are unlikeable and garbage characters.

This is less of a hot take and more of a thought, but I find it funny that the Castlevania TV series has better water/ice bending and fire bending, than nearly anything Legend of Korra could come up with. And I'm not talking about the blood and gore either. All the more funny is that Sypha is mage and not martial artist or Kung Fu expert of some kind. That is not a knock against her. Plus, the fight scenes are so well animated.

Isaac Florentine is one of the best action directors a our generation, and I do not want Hollywood swooping him up. He's not an expert storyteller, but he knows how to keep it simple and straight to the point. Florentine has done well successfully, and I would never want him to get worse quality work, but if he wants to move up I don't blame him. But I prefer he stay in the straight to DVD or streaming market. That way his vision won't ever be compromised or barely messed with by studio interference.

People being like "games nowadays are like tik tok for short span time zoomers" yet forgot that arcade games were also made for shorter game sessions and that Roguelites and other run based games were a core game design that was popular because of people busy with work so they couldn't play for hours in a row. Being able to do a pause between levels used to be a luxury but I don't see the need to do a marathon with your games unless you're a speedrunner or is in a tournament.

Games allowing you to stop whenever you need to do something urgently are not a problem and aren't intrinsically linked to a shorter timespan.

Games that cannot allow to pause (because even in the menus the real time is going on) are just punishing the player for no reasons.

Games that don't allow pausing during cutscenes immediately came to mind. Pressing start to pause, only for it to skip the cutscene... horrible.

And it's jarring to have to then pause when the gameplay resumes and watch the missed cutscene on Youtube. Ugh.

Agreed. I dislike when cutscenes are unskippable but not being able to pause them is as bad if not almost worse.

Giving players more control shouldn't be too hard...

If it wasn't for the damage not registering and the walking animation having a lag compared to the NES games I would've agreed.

I noticed the people who say this tend to be gamers around my age or are older who act like foolish old men. Acting as if this was never the case for them back then. Trying to make themselves as some grand exception that's better than everyone else. It's just another nostalgia goggles case of people smelling their own farts.

Most games don't do this nowadays and allow you to pause the cutscenes, but the ones that did or do tend to not bother me much. Especially if i'm already invested in the gameplay loop, and I am on a new game plus run.

I also think that people tend to ignore context and how it was different back then.

Many platformers were Try, Die & Retry with level design and patterns memorisation so the game would resist a bit because they were fundamentally short. When it's the afternoon of a weekend and you have finished your homework you have more time to spend on replaying the first few levels of a game than an adult with professional and familial duties.

I actually find Hard Reset a better game than Shadow Warrior 1 & 2. Especially if we're talking about the Redux version on 8th generation consoles.

Sylivia Christel I never liked as a character, even in the first No More Heroes. She's not supposed to be exactly likeable, but the game somewhat treats as being "better" than the assassins she conned. When in reality she's actually technically worse than some of them, or not much better than most. The second game does make this more clear, but I hated even more when she gunned down Ryuji like some pathetic thug. I saw nothing, but red in my eyes, and wanted nothing more than for her to die or be the final boss so I could take some pleasure in killing her. Though I already knew that was never going to happen. TSA and No More Heroes III especially, gave her a nice attitude adjustment. I actually like her in III especially, but that's about it.

She's manipulating Travis indeed.

Holly Summers best girl tho

I don't hate The Incredibles 2, but I don't care for it much either. What we have is another case of Ghostbusters 2sequel reset. That said, certain YouTube critics and those on the online sphere went way too hard on their hatred. The first movie is still the best obviously, but I really have no need to watch the sequel again.

I don't have a major hatred for Signs, but I don't give a rat's ass about it either. The twist is still stupid, but I don't harp over it too much. The movie is just a sad and boring bore, that and twist gob smacks ya back to boomerang stupidity. Also, I would still take that movie over 99% of reality TV. At least there's some stuff I can point and laugh at. Reality TV gets nothing more than my scorn, hatred, and complete apathy.

This is one of the few times I will defend CG blood, because the movie fucking earned it! They're going for a gory 90s anime/manga aesthetic, so it more than works. This movie deserved a sequel. The good news is that Ninja Assassin's ending is open-ended, so it can work either as a stand alone, or have a potential sequel.

Hateful 8 was the last Tarantino movie I ever saw, and I actually can't stand most of his works nowadays. Been that way for a long while now. I pretty much sold all DVDs I had available of his filmography.

It's perfectly fine to get bored of something you have played/watched/read/listened lots of times
Exactly. Why I try to mix it up or try something new, when I know, I've had my fill.

Reaction fics aren't the worst types of fan fiction in the world, but it's easy to see what happens when you make them too large, and ambitious or too crowded. It's why so many of them go on finish either. Because the author got bored, got scared or life happens, and unfortunately, they had to stop writing for whatever reason. And go on for a however long hiatus. Most of these fan fictions go unfinished for whatever reason, or because so people riding these stop being fans of whatever they've liked at some point.

I played the recent hack of Wily Wars, honestly it's the best way to experience it.

Ok you have a Shadow Warrior fan here, and...yeah Hard Reset is great, and in the topic of shadow warrior my list goes like this:
-OG 1999
-Shadow Warrior 3 (Japanese Doom Eternal basically, but it's fun and campy so i liked it)
-1 & 2

Honestly i hated Travis for how much he simps for her, like, dude, there's better out there, but well, every time Sylivia comes up i just go "o boy the local witch is here", even Destroyman had a better style every time he came up, hell just looking at him in 3 made me want a spinoff to play as him, dude looks SICK!
