Hot takes

After playing these games from back to back, I still say Dobule Dragon Revive is better than Rushing Beat X, but both are good games. RBX is more so decent, and has some kinks to work out, but how juggling and combo cancelling work, is freaking immaculate. That is something it does have a bit mover Revive. So far, these are two most fun modern 3D brawlers to have come out and sets them apart from a lot of the pixel brawlers out now. RBX does have a better art style than Revive, but Revive's I don't find bad. A little under cooked in some areas, but not bad.

RBX is the best in the Rushing Beat franchise and is the most replayable.

You know, the second SpongeBob movie isn't that bad.

I mean, it doesn't even compare to the first one (obviously), but at least it's kinda fun, and it doesn't have a lot of the weird problems the later seasons (and I guess movies but I haven't seen the later ones) have
A lot of the jokes aren't forced and are quite funny, and strangely enough the Plankton and SpongeBob partnership is somewhat well written.
and honestly Antonio Banderas as the villain is kinda hilarious lol

But maybe is my bias talking, as I used to watch the movie a lot of times with my brother when he was little, and that was always a fun time.

They just made the worst marketing for this movie, spoiling the end battle (I almost believed the movie was in full 3D)...

Anyone using Cuckman as an insult to Niel Druckman or his works are lazy and unoriginal hacks who are just parroting even more non-creative hacks and try-hard losers-schemers with not an original bone in their body. I am coming to the defense of the fucker, and I do hate his writing and attitude, but just call the guy pompous asshole/dumb ass dickwad and move on.

MEGAN 2.0 is the better of the two films, and is a better Terminator film/adaption than any of the films or "spin-offs" after T2.

I used to say "Drunkman" sometimes, I like to get more creative.

Elon Musk should buy up western game studios, take them private, and fire all the BlueSky users as the ultimate internet troll maneuver. He should join forces with MBS to make new Neo Geo hardware to take on Playstation and help squeeze the industry with more AI driven development.

Nah, I'd prefer games not be fucked up by some nerd larper who can't even put a basic Elden Ring build together.

(I know your original post was likely a joke, but this is a hot take's thread, meaning that everyone will take you seriously here.)

Having dabbled in the gamedev sphere for a while has taught me how easy some things are to implement and how lazy most devs are, so I like to think that my takes aren't your usual "reddit lunatic" nonsense and that they're coming from a place of awareness and knowledge.

Every game should allow you to pause and skip cutscenes on demand, a speed up and skip for animations (like in Disgaea where you can skip/speed them up by holding R2 before/during the battle or set them up in the settings) and the standard pause (looking at you Edgy Souls).

Devs should spend more time working on controls, the list of games that could be improved with just a couple more lines of code is too damn long.

Gacha content in Monster Hunter has to stop, drops are already enough, qurio crafting was the worst mechanic ever put into the series (yes worse than underwater hunting). Also hire programmers, I clocked all the issues Wilds had the moment I booted the game, if some loser gamedev wannabe can do that imagine what could actual devs could do.

The name Resident Evil has always remained relevant to the mainline series. Not every game took place in a home or residential area, but there was always a place where evil resides. So it is metaphorically true.
  • RE1 takes place in the Spencer Mansion where evil resides.
  • RE2(R) & RE3(R) has you briefly pass by some residential areas, but evil resides in the entire city due to Umbrella's influence. The heart of the evil being in the underground lab underneath the police station.
  • Code Veronica has the Umbrella prison camp and the Ashford Mansion.
  • RE4/RE4R has the village, the castle, and the center of the evil being the island where all the plagas research was mainly conducted.
  • RE5 has the shanty town, village, and ancient ruins where the T-Virus originates from.
  • RE6 is the evil residing within the US government itself with Neo-Umbrella.
  • RE7 is the gothic mansion.
  • RE8 is RE4 nearly shot for shot, except we learn of where Oswald Spencer's evil and obsession for immortality originated from.
  • RE9 has a ton of evil that went down at Gideon's hospital, and Leon returns to where the nightmare/evil started in the middle of Racoon City.

While I think most weren't done on purpose and that Resident Evil was mostly a way to circumvent copyright laws (like Dragon Warrior, Starwing/Lylat Wars and other franchises with a different western name) I still think that Biohazard has a cooler sound to it.

It's one of the rare cases where they've kept the westernised name despite the copyright no longer applying (as Dragon Warrior VIII nor Starwing Adventure existed). Maybe Yakuza is another example but they've named it Like a Dragon recently.

The whole there are "too many sympathetic villains" in fiction was always of roose by rage baiters and grifters. You ever notice how the people who did this would only pick the two examples, almost every single time and never cite their sources from anywhere else? There are plenty of villains who are just bad for the sake of bad or are not sympathetic, y'all just don't bother to talk about them, or the intentionally unsympathetic villains don't have much going for them otherwise, to be interesting to talk about. This was a trend I really noticed around 2021 and 2022. Now even before that, you had some anime reviewers saying similar things, but they weren't trying to rage bait; usually. It was still an odd or dumb take and the sound of sniffing ones own farts. It doesn't come up as much now, but you still have some people pulling this bull when making the "review" or "analysis" on youtube on whatever media they are discussing or is hot at the moment.

I prefer Riri Williams over Tony Stark. I don't hate Iron Man nor Stark himself, but I really like how she's a completely different contrast to Tony. I know she had some rough writing at the start, but it's no different from how most comic book characters started. Meant to Fly is her best story, and I recommend everyone should read it at least once. It does have some issues and one twist that wasn't needed, but a good story overall.

Redline, Promare, Kill La Kill, and Space Dandy are the best anime of the 2010s.

TMNT (2014) and Out of the Shadows are good movies and better than Secret of the Ooze, III, and TMNT (2007).

Most of the Phase 2 films in the MCU are not good and I dislike heavily. The only great one is Winter Soldier.

Loud House is one of the worst shows from the 2010s. A lot of Lincoln's sisters are unlikable, oblivious to his suffering, or just straight up jackasses. Especially Lynn Loud Jr. I know they attempted to fix this for the third season, but too little too late for me.

Regular Show is not that good. How it got that popular is beyond me, but considering you don't see people talk much about it anymore....

Suyin Beifong is the worst written character in the entire Avatar: Last Airbender franchise.

I find nothing special about Breaking Bad.

Attack on Titan is over hyped. I could not stay invested after the first season.

James Cameron's Avatar (2009) is not good. Princess Mononoke did it way better. Hell, FernGully I find better than Avatar (2009).

Bakugo, Endevor, and Mineta are the worst and weakest elements of My Hero Academia. We're either supposed to like, admire, find them sympathetic, or funny. All of them are neither of those. They're all unsympathetic jerks and nothing the show does can get me to like them or admire them. Fuck Mineta the most of all! Dude should be put on the sex offenders list! Jerk characters or villains who become less jerks or good guys can be done right. Though lately, with anime especially, writers are getting this wrong and fucking up. To see examples done the right way, check out Yu Yu Hakusho or Kill La Kill.

The Matrix did not need any sequels, though I do love the Animatrix.

A lot of horror films from the early-late 2000s are crap and have not aged well.

The live-action DOA movie is actually a decent adaption of the games. It's got Kevin Nash in it, so that's a plus.

You said before we better stay out of politics and just give hot takes about media or food but honestly this.....take of yours is worse than anything political i seen here , HOW IS REGULAR SHOW NOT THAT GOOD? the premise is simple yet grabs you like no other

The idea of doing something so mundane and it turns into some apocalyptic nonsense crap the second something goes wrong is pretty fun to watch! It's a pretty fun TV show idk why you think it's not that great

Some parts were fun, but it got repetitive for me, real fast, and I really don't like Morticai and Rigby. Especially in the first two seasons. I heard they got better, but I was more or less done at that point and moved on. The show at least bothers have an actual ending, but I never saw the finale. Didn't work for me, and I found better shows.

Thank you Colins for pointing this out. This is why I don't bother with youtube reviewers much anymore, aside from a very few that have been around long enough or know what they're actually doing and know how to do criticism. I'm especially against people who either praise or hate the thing but never elaborate or just give blank and vague statements which don't mean anything nor describe anything.

I actually liked Dawn of the Nugget (Chicken Run's long awaited sequel) it lacks the isolated horror of the first one and it is your standard "Offspring rebels against "Mean" dad and learns they were just worried for their safety", but the spy plot is rich, MS Tweedy is still the same chicken murderer of the first one and overall the action and comedy balances the tension without breaking it fully

When i found out the reception was mixed, i got legit surprised

Mordecai's obsession towards Margaret kind irked me.

God of War 4 does this subtly
Was reading this and while unrelated to the topic at hand, SPEAKING OF GOW 4 AND RAGNAROK.

I understand that the formula of the old GOW games may have been getting stale for some players and a switch up needed to be made. BUT, while 4 and Ragnarok add a level of narrative substance that just wasnt present in the old games, I also feel like a bit of the soul was taken out of the series at the same time. I think the conversation about the visual homoginization of first party sony games since "TLOU1" has been brought up enough times already so while I that is part of my critique, my major one is, i just don't find either of those games as entertaining to play as GOW 3

Also, on a completely separate note, thinking of the God of war series got me to think of another series, Castlevania.

I am happy konami is finally doing something with the franchise again but not to be a negative Nancy, while the news of the new game was fantastic , I would really like another 3D Castlevania experience. There has been so many Castlevania inspired games that came out because of konami's unwillingness to drop a new game for like 15 years, That I would argue a new 3D Castlevania would make a bigger impact than a 2D one.

Like yeah I missed the franchise but bloodstained was there to hold me over in my time of need if im being completely honest. I would like a lords of shadows 3 or maybe even a modern version of what was being made in the PS2 era

Exactly. It went on for way too long, and Mordecai came off as creepy.

That's fine by me. I would take GoWIII over either TLOUS games, but I don't like III much. Mainly from character and story perspective. The gameplay is good, but I don't find it enjoyable GoWII or even the PSP games. Plus, I do prefer Devil May Cry over nearly every GoW title. Except DMC2 of course. Boring as fuck.

The closest you're ever going to get to Lords of Shadow 3 is pretty much Darksiders III. From a gameplay perspective anyway and a whip being your main weapon. I am just happy Konami is putting out a new Castlevania game out with actual effort and dves that care. Haunted Castle Revisited is an excellent remake too.

Romance often ruins the pace of a show imo.

Unless it's a romcom or romance focused series they are often useless if not dragging out the story.

Romantic comedies in general do nothing for me and I dislike them. Especially if we're talking about romantic comedies from hollywood during the 2000s. Anime romantic comedies can be somewhat better than these, but I rarely go after those either. Other than Tenchi OVA 1-2, Tenchi Universe, Golden Boy, and Kaguya, i really don't care for much else.

I barely know about Korra sorry. For me it's mostly about Avatar The Last Airbender.

I did like Hi-Score Girl but mostly because it featured retro arcade games.

Mike and Bryan at least kept the romance simple and to the point without interfering with the actual plot in ATLA. Korra close the other hand is much worse in the romance makes her even more of an unlikable character, because those first two seasons.

Yeah, getting in an affair with a guy already dating another woman is such a good idea, nd we're supposed to like her for it./sarcasm

russell brand was in a lot of rom coms as a womaniser woman stealing type character. He used to work for MTV in the UK and interview people at festivals completely off his nut on camera.
