Hot takes

I'm thinking straight enough.

I want a ton of them to be put out of work. Specifically the ones who felt comfortable enough to be calling for more violence, death threats, praising assassinations on social media not too long ago.
Individuals perhaps, as they put themselves out there that way, but the entire studio? I also don't know to what you're referring, so

every mainline pokemon game since black and white has proven N right more and more.

BW2: Ghetsis tortures kyurem and uses it as a weapon. actually everything team plasma does in that game.

X&Y: on the bad guy team we got pokehitler and his fashion nazis, on the good guy side had the main "rival" not only not being able to refute his claims of pokemon being used by humans causing more harm than good, but ends up partially agreeing with his insane genocide plan!

ORAS: it expands on rse storyline showing and how the humans throw the environment out of balance and cause permeant climate change, granted it is thru the lens of just adding more biodiversity to the region (and mechanically a way to catch pokemon outside the hoenn dex) but we all know what climate change does irl

SMUSUM: Lusamine's expirements with type: null/silvally and desire to take the ultra beasts out of their natural habitats all for her own selfish desires. also the game show pokemon and humans living in harmony without the trainer relationship before a leauge comes in showing that pokemon dont need to battle. (also mega evolution lore, as dubiously canon as the dex entries are)

LGPE: Being that this is pokemon go the mainline game, you are encouraged to catch multiple of the same species and trade them for candy, which reduces the pokemon from individuals to just head of cattle which is opposed to the themes of the series

Cut and Shill: Cara Liss and Chairman Roses recklessness

Legends Arceus: VOLO, enough said. but i will say more. the game also lowkey encourages the player to constantly switch out pokeon without forming bonds with any of them, using them as tools to fulfill a job rather than treating them like indivduals

Scarlet and Violet: the whole time travel mess and creation of the artificial paradox pokemon to again invade and disrupt the pokemons environment just to fulfill the selfish whims of Arven's Parents

the games following Black and white not only renforce N's ideology by having villains that show different ways of humans exploiting them but also on a meta level gamefreak encouraging competative battling more and more over the years reduces the uniqueness of each pokemon in that if you want to battle you only sue the statistically best pokemon with max IVs and have good movepools and abilities (competative battling itself is fine irl, it is just a game with fictional virtual creatures irl) but in the universe that just creates a eugenics oriented mindset,
"Do you understand why you lost? You have forgotten to treat your Pokémon with trust and love!" But I'm yet to see how the games have made any attempt to mechanically reflect on that. Aside from some shallow bonding mechanics.
(I imagine the move "Return" doesn't get much casual or competitive use. "False Swipe" is actually the true mark of my most bonded Pokemon, because I essentially rely on this move for the entire post-game.)
yeah that's right this has actually also been a rant on why IVs are bad and should be removed from the game
I think with the active battle system now implemented-- while not getting into the number-crunching specifics-- I think there's a lot of changes that could be made to integrate passive traits more effectively.

Banjo Tooie is better than Banjo Kazooie

I dislike pizza.

I dislike chocolate.

Anyone who smokes, drinks alcohol and using illegal drugs can suck my dick. You endanger or at least bother others for stupid shit.

Stop paying for Nintendo, what the fuck is wrong with you? This is not a matter of "don't pay for them if you dislike them, don't tell me what to do" thing. You basically support a legal global terror organization sues people randomly even when whatever they did is nowhere related to Nintendo. Just Nintendon't let them exist lol.

Fuck PC Master Race inferior race. They reduced gaming into just a mindless 144 FPS and HZ 4K resolution "realistic graphics" gaming. Enjoy your realistic walking simulator "interactive story programs" now you dip shit. Take your 50K RTX GPU and shove it up your ass. They even ended what RPG means and they just make games walking simulator + pew pew action from time to time + unnecessary dialogue option that has no affect + an inventory management Tetris minigame or you gather tons of unnecessary items just for an illusion of stupid sense of "RPG".

Fuck "I want exclusives on a console" race too.

Fuck sheep customers who defend video game companies releasing a game that is unplayable for years. "But developing games are complex and hard", just suck my dick you submassive piece of horse and bullshit combined lol.

Fuck defenders of any form of payment companies ask despite you already bought the full game as in DLC and microtransactions and shit. Just fuck you and your mindless love for capitalism.

Fuck defenders of whatever is wrong in gaming. "Don't play it if you dislike it" my ass, there is nothing to play unless you are brain dead. They target only brain-dead people as their audience.

Welcome to my Fuck Talk, motherfucker!!!! lolol
I'll smoke to that

it was bright and colorful. it's the same reason that people hated wind waker. people hated bright colors in the early to mid 2000's.
there are some annoying parts to the game, but they are doable as long as you are patient.
Wind Waker was one of the earliest games to use cell-shading (along with Viewtiful Joe), which people found polarizing at the time. I thought it looked nice, what I didn't like was how downright easy Wind Waker was..

The Castlevania 64 games are actually really good.
Final Fantasy 5,7,9 and the dissidia PSP games are the only good ones.
GTA's open worlds are boring as hell.
Uncharted and the last of us was never good.
The New assassin's Creed formula is way better then the old one same for the new Zelda games.
Modern action games take way to much inspiration from dark souls, i played stellar blade the other day and it just felt like a easier dark souls. Not that dark souls is bad, elden ring though...yeah not a big fan.

Personally, I never understood the sort of odd mindset a large part of the internet has where the legacy of a well known developer is immediately "tarnished" if they dared to work or be part of a bad game. Especially since with loads of the horror stories we've heard about game development show that you can get an a very competent and ambitious team, loads of time/money, and loads of examples of what could go wrong from previous game dev disasters, yet a game could easily still turn up bad. Whether it's due to outside factors or even thanks to big time executives or head honchos whose names are basically unknown to most people cause the internet only really cares about specific people with enough repetition.

Some developer could've have directed the worst game of the previous year, and all I would care about is if the game they're making/releasing now was good or not. Unless that game dev was a legit terrible person (and I mean a really terrible person), I have no reason to immediately dismiss the game cause some mid tier Youtuber thought their past game was "teh worse gaem ever!1!" or something.

games that started as early access should not win any awards or be nominated for goty

People that like Souls-like games are masochists and have made difficulty = unbalanced gameplay to devs much to my dismay. Oh, and Rogue-like is a synonym for "I'm too uncreative to come up with decent map and item placement design so I have to rely on randomization".

I wonder what it was that they were expecting? I know some of that tech demo later helped shape what would be Mario Galaxy, but I feel like people would not have been ready for Galaxy at the time of the GC.
Also that Super Mario 128 looked a lot like Pikmin so it would've been probably too similar. And "Mario 64 2" was probably planned for the N64DD (like how UraZelda aka Master Quest was).

Unskippable cutscenes, a whole game built around similar levels or stages, needing to reload stages to grab multiple shines. It was tedious, not challenging.
It's literally the same thing for Mario 64 and Galaxy though. Cutscenes in Mario games aren't that long either. Mario 64 had the advantage of having relatively small levels and Galaxy had a more linear tracking for specific stars. Mario 64 had only text boxes but you had to mash the button as well but thankfully they were scarce.

I do agree that Mario 64 and Sunshine's re-releases should've tweaked it a bit (like the 100-coins and 8 red coins stars being the same type of non-exit stars).

Wind Waker was one of the earliest games to use cell-shading (along with Viewtiful Joe), which people found polarizing at the time. I thought it looked nice, what I didn't like was how downright easy Wind Waker was..
*ahem* Jet Set Radio *cough*

Zelda games were never that hard I'd argue, yes even if OoT and ALTTP were quite challenging some times the Zelda franchise has only ever been challenging on the NES. WW and TP were easier because of the more refined controls for the players, giving him more options (like attacking while moving among other things).

Only BotW in the first few hours went back to being hard.

Oh yeah, I totally forget about Jet Set Radio! I think it's because I was reaching for 20+ year old Gamecube-specific memories, at the moment..

But I'm not even talking about it needing to be old-school "Nintendo-hard," but don't hold my hand.. The difference with ALttP & OoT is that there was at least the chance of actually getting lost in their dungeons. Wind Waker's dungeons, on the other hand, were as linear as they get, and it broke the immersion for me..
This was amplified, for me anyways, because I had to skip OoT (no N64), but preordered Wind Waker in order to get OoT: Master Quest with it. Imagine going from A Link to the Past, to Wind Waker, and then Ocarina of Time & Master Quest... "One of these things is not like the others!"
Here's an old "hot take." I dumped on OoT when it originally came out, because about 90% of the new, 3D adaptations of older IPs, at the time, were basically insta-aged garbage. But wow... I have never been so pleasantly WRONG in my entire life! OoT is/was one of the few games that I liked more & more every single time I played it! That is, until a burglary happened.... ::hellmo

I think fallout 4 was not bad, personally I liked it better than NV!::blush

lolol

Yeah tell me about it. As if they didn't play a better game before. I appreciate the concept they came up with but it wasn't properly implemented in the game.

The first 2 hours of the game is just a walking simulator, and when shit happens it's just a boring "hide and seek" game. Sometimes the game is too unfair like the alien constantly and randomly warps under your ass and then it kills the point of the game for me and also my ass lol. Sometimes aliens never leave your ass despite you hide for hours. I'm good at stealth thanks to me Metal Gear and Thief experiences but they didn't do the shit right. In the end it doesn't feel like the movies at all anyway. And then they give you a gun that cannot kill aliens. Oh another adaptation that they completely ignored how the original is SMH.

Not that I care how they ruin Alien video games but I really liked the one on PS1 called Alien Resurrection. This is da one I would call a "real Alien game experience".
It's funny how every time someone gushes about that thing they somehow manage to leave that stuff out along with the terrible sign posting, jank combat, stuff lifted wholesale from the movies, and "puzzles" where you have to disable cameras and the switch to disable the camera is directly under the camera.

Ocarina of time was the beginning of the downfall of Zelda. When I finally played it on 3ds I found the game incredibly easy and boring. When I beat it all I could remember was "that's it?"...

Zelda was better as a 2d series.

Square soft(Enix) has sucked since the PS2

I think Fallout 76 is enjoyable and I had fun with the hundred hours or so that I played.

I was recently watching a video from Yovideogames about the top 10 Playstation one games. I was taken aback by the stance Maximilian Dood had on the old Ps1 platformers essentially being worse than what the Nintendo 64 had to offer.

Which brings me to my "Hot Take" (im not sure it is one) I genuinely feel that barring Banjo Kazooie and Mario 64, the other platformers on the system are OK-forgettable. In fact i would go as far as to say sony had the better platformers in both the 5th and especially the 6th generation, as the gamecube had the weakest line up of exclusive platformers for any nintendo console not named the virtual boy

I was gonna make a thread about this. But I wasn't sure because I think it would just lead to arguing too much. Might not be a hot take. Depends on your thoughts.

I've noticed in some communities that there's a growing number of people who insist that women don't play "real" games. They like Candy Crush/mobile slop, Animal Crossing, The Sims ect... and that "real" games should be made for men. Not women. Whatever that means. I take this to mean they all need big booba sexy momma type characters. As long as she's not the MC (unless there are a lot of cleavage and panty shots). She can't use big weapons like swords or guns because "That's unrealistic". Even in games with magic and dragons and aliens. Apparently a woman wielding a comically huge sword, wearing heavy armor or using an enormous firearm is not realistic because she couldn't be able to lift it.

Despite some of the issues with AssCreed Shadows I noticed a lot of people didn't like that there was a female ninja. As if kunoichi haven't been a popular type of character in games and anime for decades. Same with Ghost of Yotei. Like we haven't seen that type of female character before. I haven't played either game. I don't have the hardware anyway. But all this character driven misogyny seems like a sad hill to die on. What's wrong with these guys? Some of the female characters they say are ugly aren't even ugly. Legions of bald space marine jacked jock stereotypes with so-so faces=fine. Woman that doesn't look like a triple filtered super model=Affront to all that is Holy! Burn the witch!

I'm sorry. Default male Shepherd is not even remotely attractive to me. I think he has a goofy face. But I'm not gonna fry a whole game because I don't like what the main guy looks like. I'm not that shallow.

I don't think these guys know what games women actually like which would be whatever games they enjoy playing. Whether that be The Sims or Big Boobie Action Game #458.

His take was right though. PS1 had Crash & Spyro, and a bunch of mid tier or OK stuff.

N64 had 3D platformers locked down. Rayman 2 was better, Mario, Banjo 1 and 2 games, Conker, Donkey Kong 64, Bomberman Hero, Rocket Robot on Wheels.

2D stuff is a different argument. Mischief Makers and Yoshi Story, lose ground to Tomba or Klonoa.

Both were good at 3D platformers you could throw in front of kids to keep them happy. Nintendo still stood above anybody in that arena though. Playstation beat them at almost everything else.
