I'm sorry but the whole thing about the three letters organisations aren't a bit over-exaggerated by conspiracies?

Paranoia is a real condition.

There are lots of official reports that have been declassified decades after the fact following congressional hearings, requests for information etc. These are public and can be accessed by anybody, and they're plenty enough to shatter whatever delusions you have about what Governments and secret services wouldn't do, as are the various leaks from whistleblowers that have been confirmed through the years. There are also tons of books and documentaries and newspaper reports about these topics by legitimate researchers that only rely on serious sources. Of course there are also people making things up on the Internet, but that's a separate matter. We are going to see some crazy things with AI improving too.

Imagine not knowing Mossad-CIA and their exploits, like MK-Ultra, Sleeper Agents, CP Rackets (Epstein-Barr, et al.)

I would say more about current events, but I truly want to respect the rules, and stay friends with fellow retro gamers. Politics spoil the fun.

MK-Ultra, Sleeper Agents.
MK-Ultra was kinda a hoax to make the Soviets believe that the USA had new forms of weapons.

Remember that the Cold War was also an Information War.

I think that The Matrix (and The Terminator to a lower extent) really made people a bit too crazy about conspiracies around (and missed the point of these movies).

Salmon is the only consistently tasty fish.

100% accurate.

The range of Tuna is unbelievable, from salty/smelly not so good canned tuna you must mix with Mayo to delicious Sashimi Tuna that tastes like gentle butter with nothing more...

I have only tasted good SwordFish (Marlin), but I have only had it about 5 times, and always in beaches or good restaurants in the midlands, so I wonder whether it is culled more.. but never had bad Marlin.

I'm just not much of a fish (or any seafood really) person, in general haha, but salmon always works wonders for me.
I do like some tuna though.

I hate to say it considering both of them are my favorite Nintendo Consoles

Both the Wii and NDS had way too much shovelware, and all the games that are reccomended by everyone and their moms are the only ones that are made with a semblance of love and care

There hasn't been a good Legend of Zelda game in 20 years and the last good one wasn't even made by Nintendo.
Which one you referring to? the Capcom Ages games? or the Phillips CD-i games?

Enix's only good franchise was dragon quest while squaresoft had way more good games (if not franchises)
What other franchises besides DQ did Enix have before the merger?

Speaking of fighting games, I have no idea how this is viewed in the FGC, but I really don't like how they're ALL crossing over with each other nowadays. Ryu's in Smash Brothers, Mai Shiranui's in Street Fighter, Punchbrain McGillicuddy's in Goonblasters 112. It really makes each IP less distinct – now there's not so much a variety of different fighting games as there is this big amorphous blob of fighting game culture that all the characters and worlds co-exist in. (At least in mainstream big-name fighting games.)

Do people like this? What if you only want to play Street Fighter characters in Street Fighter? It all seems a little goofy to me. The fighting game genre just seems to be getting more and more incestuous as time goes on. I like fighting games, but I can't imagine for a second getting into the modern AAA ones.
My Hot Take:
Punchbrain McGillicuddy is a ripoff of E. Honda and Goonblasters 112 is the worst in the series.

they made both console and computer games. here's some wikipedia links
Yes I know Enix made a lot of games, I've played most of them. I'm asking what Franchises they owned before SquareEnix

you'd see them in those links. i don't actually know, i never heard of them until the merger, so dragon quest is the only one that i know of before they fused with squaresoft.

The lists you kindly shared are of individual games, not franchises, but fair enough; perhaps I wasn't being specific enough.

i tried looking that up; i only got results for the games and franchises that square enix has. nothing about what enix themselves had.

Thank for trying. The original poster was saying that DQ was Enix's best franchise. The point I was trying to make was that Dragon Quest was Enix's only real franchise, outside a couple sequels.

you're welcome.
yeah, dragon quest does come off like it's their only franchise. for a while, i thought that was the only game series that they made.

I think RetroArch has it's place and is very useful for just being the centre of your emulation, but I've always disliked how it's annoying it is to change settings per emulator, and I've always preferred using standalone emulators to be able to tweak everything to my liking. But that's just me, I wanna hear your opinions about how I'm wrong and stupid
Totally agree. RA's UX is hot garbage.

Oh my...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus_(video_game)

Jesus[1] is a graphic adventure game developed and published by Enix. It was first released in 1987 on the PC-8801, FM-77AV, X1, and the MSX2 and was later ported to the Famicom in 1989 as Jesus: Kyōfu no Bio Monster[2] (Jesus: Bio Monster of Terror). A sequel, Jesus II, was released on the PC-8801, PC-9801, and X68000 in 1991.

The game's name refers to a space station called J.E.S.U.S., named after the central Christian figure Jesus. The ship is shaped like a double-edged sword a la Book of Revelation. Its inhabitants go on to fight a mysterious demonic alien from Halley's Comet.

I am intrigued. ::thinking
